Hi, I'm not 100% sure how succinct i'll make all of this, I've got a fair few thoughts whirling round in my head and I want to try and share them, and maybe tie them up at the end. Last night I finished WH, and I read some interesting passages. Not least the very few that follow the Forsaken. When Rand is in Far Madding, he has just killed Rochaid, agreed with Kisman that they would flee the Guards, Kisman has been killed by Fain (we later know it to be Fain) and Rand has returned to the inn. We have a very rare (so far in the books) Isam/Luc POV. Isam is in T'A'R, he changes to Luc, and steps out into the real world, into a bedchamber in an inn. He kills two sh…

Any of you ever have a sound track in their head when thinking about the WOT. Not sure of how many Queensryche fans there are here but I always think of 2 songs from thier "Warning" album" : Take hold of the flame and Road to madness. Peace

Who is Demandred? We know from RJ that we haven't met him yet, but that doesn't mean we've not heard of him or who he is posing as though. Someone posted awhile ago that they thought that King Roedran of Murandy is actually Demandred, I would have to agree. Demandred is, I think, the biggest wildcard when it comes to AMoL, where he is and what he's up to we don't know. I think Murandy would be a good place for him to be though, for these reasons: 1) It's only recently been unified. 2) Due to Murandy's position if Demandred was in charge there it would explain the "an invisible man with a knife to his(Rand's) throat" dream of Egwene's. At the Cleansing he says he is…

OK - Again - This contains discussion about Brandon's other works so if you have not read them - I advise to GET OUT!!! I read Elantris first and while I enjoyed it, I was not all that impressed. Don't get me wrong but it just did not "Grab" me like WoT and ASoIaF. Truthfully, after reading Elantris I was a more than a little worried about how well he will do on WoT. Then I got the free Mistborn e-Book from TOR and went ahead and read it. I found it to be a vast improvement over Elantris. Mistborn 2 was equally impressive. Don't get me wrong, I am still a little worried about style and depth of detail that RJ had…

THere has been some discussion on whether Tarna is Black and I think I may have busted her in a lie. At the beginning of aCoS, Elaida tells Alviarin that Tarna's report on Salidar indicated "100 Rebel Aes Sedai ready to break" which might have been a good guess, but with reagards to the rebel army, Tarna says "two or three thousand men at most" off by roughly a factor of 5 at that time, since their numbers, as reported by Vanin, are in the range of 12-15 thousand. It makes me wonder, suspicious bastard that I am, is Tarna deliberately misleading Elaida with this report in an effort to bring her down? She is made Keeper after her return to the Tower a…

I confess that when I first read the Eye of the World, I thought is was boring, but when I read more of it, it was so interesting that I bought almost all the books except the last book. ;D Before I read this series, I had no book to read but I found this book in a library and found it interesting. Its a miracle RJ wrote this series cause its FANTASTIC :P

I have just recently purchased the FULL WoT audio book collection to date (geeze that was expensive). When i was burn the countless CD's to my itunes I realised that i wanted some cool cover art. Now i'm not the biggest fan of Sweet's cover art because of it's inconsistency but it has to be said it's a hell of alot better than the UK book covers which are boring to say the least. As i proceeded to place the cover art into itunes i just looked awful with that garish text and "best seller" slogans. So i set out on my epic quest to find some decent quality pictures of Sweet's art. Now it wasn't short or easy but i've managed to find nearly all the art for the books…

I tried the search and couldn't find this subject, if it's there, I would appreciate the info. I'm rereading (listening) to TGH and in the chapter where Fain escapes and Verin is reading the writings left in the cell, she says something like We don't know much about the prophecies from the dark side. Other than the one she finds there, are there any more? She tells Egwene one about Ishmael and the Dark One, but I think that came from the Kar cycle or from another Aes Sedai. Any ideas about dark Prophecies?

It finally dawned on me the other day why I am so skeptical about whether or not WOT characters work for the devil. Ingtar. Before the revealation that he was a darkfriend, I was totally fooled. Right up until his final charge I still waited for RJ to say "just kidding". His character just did not fit with what I envisioned as darkfriend behavior. It instilled in me the feeling that I could misread ANY of the characters. In Rand's shoes, I would have entrusted Ingtar with my life without question. And, if Ingtar's boss told him to cut Rand's throat he would have done it in a heartbeat. So, when I upset some DMer's in the past by suggesting that some "unquestionabl…

Excuse me if this post already has a presence. . .I am new. I feel this is a great subject considering recent events. Perhaps we can all share our perspectives. Frankly, there's only a few directors who could possibly have the balls to even ponder touching a series like TWOT. . .Peter Jackson & George Lucas are the quick two that come to mind for obvious reasons. . . I don't want to venture into who plays who, but rather what will become of Mr. Jordan's writing style when it is picked apart by a film director concerned with not making a 6 hour+ movie? I feel that is the critical point here. I have reviewed the galleries and enjoyed them throughly, but I tend to s…

It would be great theater if one of the major good guys and one of the major bad guys changed sides before the fateful end. If that were to be the case, which major member (or mid-level major) of the Light, and which major member of the Dark would be most likely? I keep looking at Perrin, since he is so enmeshed with a family that I dislike enough that they seem to be dark friends, and would probably drive me crazy if I had married into them. For the Dark, it's tough - it wold have to be like Asmodean, someone who is convinced of self-interest or probable defeat, and just wants to win. Graendel? Taim doesn't count - and I think he was just really ticked off that he d…

I thought this deserved its own thread rather than continue hijacking the other one. To this point, no one has made an Angreal and I'm pretty sure this is why. A woman is required to make a male attuned angreal and vice versa. None of the Chosen, after two years of freedom, have made their own Angreal. One would assume that as least one of the 13 would have at least a rudimentary knowledge of how to do so. Lanfear was an OP researcher after all. To say she wouldn't have a clue how to do this is beyond belief. Aginor was a scientist, all right biologist, but you would think he'd at least have a general idea in the same way most physicists have at least…

When did the 3rd Age begin? Was it at the breaking, or is the Ae of Legends part of the Third Age? I know Mr. Jordan had appendecies and calendars in some of his books, but I mostly rely on the audio books because of my poor vision and these don't include those all the time. I know there is a calendar based on AB (after the breaking) and I think there is a New Era calendar too, but I'm not sure when the third age actually starts. My believe is the Age of Legends was the 2nd Age and it ended when the War of Power did, and the third age began with the breaking. What are your thoughts? It would also be interesting as a side note, to know whether Mr. Jordan mapped o…

I am currently on another re-read and Nynaeve has just this moment Healed Logain. As Nynaeve is panicking and putting every once of Saidar she can channel into a shield, Logain says to her that he once saw a man who he thought would be more dangerous than himself. He explains that he saw someone when he was captured and just brought to Caemlyn, it is obvious he is referring to Rand. He said he saw a glow around Rand when Rand was watching from atop the wall. Now I didnt have time to post a quote so I got the page number. Lord of Chaos, To Heal Again, page 602. So, Logain saw a glow around Rand. As far as I can remember the only other person who has visions si…

This topic is pure speculation. If you have not read book 9 yet, I suggest you skip this until you have. Assuming people can still use the power in the 4th age, and assuming Saidin and Saidar are still around in their third age form, what happens to the things which were done with saidin prior to the cleansing of the taint? Rand, and a few Aes Sedai, for example, were healed with the power prior to the taint being cleansed. Is there a chance, then, that the taint will still be around for them? Also, many men used the power prior to its cleansing so the taint would still be in them. Might they not still go mad? The bowl of the winds drew on saidin to fix the weather…

I recall reading here that the Choedan Kal was not used in the sealing of the bore because they keys were lost when the area they were stored in was overrun by darkfriends or some such. I am reading Fire of Heaven and came across the part where Rand thinks (with LTTs memories or whatever) that it was too bad the Choedan Kal was not finished until after the bore was sealed. If anyone has the quote from the book, it would be greatly appreciated. So which is accurate? I would think the quote from the book? or do I just have my stories mixed up?

I have been reading Brandon Sanderson's blog for the past couple months. I really hope that before he starts writing book number 12 he gets past the "I can't believe I'm going to do this fan boy stage". Do you all agree?

To all the supporters of the taimandred theory, my heart goes out to you. i was once a supporter of this theory and have devoted two re-reads in search of evidence both for and against. Now however, the biggest piece of supporting evidence is about to be blown to pieces: Opinion - Taim referred to Rands followers as "so-called Aiel" supports the notion that he's from the age of legends, as only Forsaken have referred to them in that manner. Fact - Aiel means dedicated in the old tongue. Fact - Taim was contextually speaking of who Rand could count on to watch his back as a pitch for recruitment trips for the Black Tower when he made the comment. Is it n…

Just read an interesting theory at theoryland on the similarities between Rand and Jesus Christ. The theory was written a while ago and is filed under the misc. theory section. http://www.theoryland.com/theories.php?func=5&rec=58&theo=956 Essentially it runs as follows: Rand has similarities to JC. 1. Wound in his side - Roman spear wound / Wound from Falme. 2. Wounds on hands - Nails / Herons (No mention of other crucifiction wounds) -- I'd add the Crown of Swords and Crown of Thorns as a possible link here - Both crowns that pierce the skin of the wearer ... maybe. -- The author then goes on to quote a few lines from the books: "... But…

Is it just me or dose Moraine's abilitys get alot stronger between Eye Of Thw World and The Fires Of Heaven? In the first book she seems quite weak always complaining about what she can't do. Yet by book 5 she seems alot stronger I mean she can do BaleFire. And though in the first book she comments that few sisters can do much in the way of healing yet later we find an entire Ajah revolving around the ability. Are these just editoral mistakes or is there more behind it that I'm just not getting? Perhaps I'm Just being dense but it dose seem quite the contradiction. [glow=green,1,500]Darth_Andrea[/glow]

Just had to share this with people who appreciate it. There is a guy in my office, I'm looking at him right now, who is the absolute personification of the appearance Rand took on when he went into one of the palaces with Min. I can't remember exactly when it was, but it was in book 9 or after because i havent got to it yet this re-read. He traveled there, and he took on the appearance of a small, plain man in an oversized coat with lank, greasy hair and a severe parting. That man is in my office. I think he thinks i'm a loon, i keep staring at him...

... is the second oath. But i see a problem with this. Elayne is going to re-create the 'angreal she discovers, which Aviendha reads. Please bear with me if she has already done so, I'm only just starting book 9. But surely some of these 'angreal she would be making with full intention of the Green or other AS / other channelers / maybe even Rand and the Asha'man using them to fight at TG. Even making something to enable them to draw more power in order to defeat their enemies most likely goes against the oath. If she was to take the Oath, would she have to convince herself that they were for other purposes, in order to be able to make them? Could this be con…

When I first started looking at this, I wondered if Fel could still be alive, but the passage seems clear that Idrien is convinced that the remains belong to Fel. It's not 100%, though. In any case, the fact is that Rand's two "teachers" were eliminated within a fairly short time. Could it be that they were done by the same entity? The most convincing arguments for Asmodean's killer seem to be for Graendal, which would make her the prime suspect for Fel as well. The question becomes, then, where was Fel leading Rand that it needed to be stopped, or was it just to eliminate an ally? The reason that I was looking for evidence that Fel was still alive was because I tho…

I've said in this post 'at the moment' - for me, 'at the moment' is the middle of book 9, just after Rand and Nynaeve have gone off to cleanse the source. Please feel free to enlighten me if I'm speaking about things which have happened since. So after Tarmon Gaidon, what happens to the world? So many rulers have been either taken by the Seanchan, overrun by Whitecloaks or Masema, killed or otherwise incapacitated. Currently Rand 'runs' most of Randland, but his in-tray must be getting pretty full. So what happens after TG? Either Rand will be dead or I would imagine just about ready to hand over power; I don’t think he ever intends to continue running the…
