Someone was eaten/killed by Mashadar and seconds later, a channeller as powerful as Rand balefired that Mashadar? Some of you might have guessed where this is leading...... Sammael is alive.

I'm on book 9, and we've learnt that Logain has joined the Asha'Man, and is quickly becoming the polar opposite of Taim in the fact of Toveine mentions two 'camps' in her POV; Logain, and Taim. I find this pretty understandable, men in awe of Taim would also be in awe of Logain, especially if it was known that he was gentled and healed, and is still a considerable channeller, he is likely to be something of a beacon for them, I also believe he's has a considerable charisma. So far Rand has no idea that Logain is in the Black Tower, as far as we are told, but he is beginning to understand that Taim is not his best ally. He tells Elayne, Aviendha and Nynaeve that the …

I have searched but there is soooo much LTT stuff I can't find any threads which mention this. I'm trying to figure something out, can someone enlighten me as to when LTT 'vanished' from Rand's head and when he came back? I know it was around book 6/7 but I make my mental timeline by events, and I can't remember when it was.

Hey bit of a strange theory perhaps - didn't start thiking bout it til I'd actually finished the series and now I've read it, I've picked up on more and more hints, so it'll be cool to see what you lot think. How about Thom Merrilin getting together with Moiraine (provided she survives) it would so be the perfect match - King and Queen players of the Game of Houses.

So Rand has just started to see the whirling colours and a blurry image when talking about Mat. I presume this turns into his ability to 'see' Mat when mentioning him. So far he's not mentioned Perrin but I assume it's the same. The first time I remember reading this is when Rand and Min, with Rand in disguise, go to the Palace in Caemlyn with the intention of seeing Nynaeve and Mat, but it all ends up with Rand in bed with Elayne. It happens a fair few times because Nynaeve lies and tells Rand that Mat is with Egwene, leading her army for her, so that Rand will go to Egwene, thinking he will find Mat (Women are so sneaky). I know it's not quite the same and he…

What are your thoughts on Herid's last note? "before you can rebuild you must clear the rubble" I think it's implying the bore can never be sealed while a single seal remains intact. That would explain the darkfriends looking for the seals so furtively. If they had got the seals they could break all but one, so the barrier would be weak enough for the DO to continue his/her work on widening the bore, but the final intact seal would assure that no one would be able to seal it up, at least until Shai'tan was ready to break completely free of the prison then the final seal could be broken. But what will Rand rebuild? Will he completely …

We see at a meeting of the Chosen that there are 11 chairs set out, and indicater that 11 Chosen remain. 1) Greandal 2) Moridin/Ishamael 3) Demandred 4) Mesaana 5) Semirhage 6) Cyndane/Lanfear 7) Osan'gar/Balthamel 8) Moghedien 9) Aran'gar/Aginor(Can't remember if he was still alive then?) 10) ? 11) ? Who are the remaining Chosen? The DO said Rahvin was lost outside of time and Asmodean died for his treason, and RJ said that Sammael was dead for good. Could Bel'al be one of the remaining? Yes he was balefired, but balefire only makes it harder for the DO to retrieve the spirit because he/she has a shorter timeframe in which to get the s…

So i'm reading book 9, WH. I've just read the chapter where after Elayne is poisoned, she and Nynaeve go into TAR and meet Egwene. They discuss everything that Norry told Elayne about the Borderlanders army (which we know contains 13 aes sedai) and everything else. At the end, they see a man, who has obvioulsy been eavesdropping (we also learn shortly after that Temaile was there too, behind a column and someone was in one of the ante-rooms at the back, but as yet we dont know who). He looks like an older version of Rand, with grey at his temples, and a blue wool coat. At first my thought was Janduin, but then they put such emphasis on the fact that 'this man …

I can go over everything thst point to why at length, but I will try to be brief. I am sure most if not all of those points have been hashed over and rehashed anyway. So let me just touch on a few. -Danelle was part of the original group that pulled down Suian. Not only that she brought in the "masons" to pull off the coup, along with being int he group that took Suian into custody. -Interestingly enough other than Alviarin, Danelle is the only woman from that group to escape Elaida making an example of them early on. We know that Danelle is not thought to be Black Ajah as we've seen from Alviarin's pov. Every time she sees a black sister she thinks of the…

Hi Guys, had a thought after listening to part 2 of the Asmodean-podcast: What if Lews completely took over Rand's body, Travelled to where the murder occured, took out Asmodean, Skimmed to his rooms (thereby throwing Asmo's body into the infinite nothingness beyond the platform Rand Skimmed on), and appeared again? Give me a moment here: RJ said that the killer is obvious. Who else knows more about the Forsaken than Lews? He would have studied them during the War of Power wouldn't he? And Asmo was taken by melancholy moods (that Rand saw, and thereby, Lews) and when a man's melancholy, what does he do? He drinks. Lews had motive, too: I mean, the Chosen d…

Rand learned the void from his father. Siuan in TGH asked Moiraine if he (Rand) learned it from Lan. Is the void something that all blademasters are taught? I would assume (and we know what that means) that being able to put aside all emotions and feelings to total concentration would be a need in going against a blademaster. Also, how do you become a blademaster? Is there certain things you need to do?

So, Rand and Moridin's balefires crossed. Considering the nature of Balefire and what it does, what is the effect of two different people's balefire columns touching? Does one balefire wipe the other one from the pattern which wipes the first one which wipes the other one.. and on and on, or does it do something much more sinister? I havent had a major think on this, and have to admit I may have gotten my facts wrong somehow, but is there any possibility (feel free to pull me apart) that the balefires would eat backwards, until they reached the 'firer' of the other balefire? Is there any chance that this would be significant in Rand / Moridin 'switching' or on…

Just some random thoughts I had, first one was about the Tower of Gengie (spelling?) We don't know a whole lot about it, but its still kinda cool. A doorway into the realm of the Snakes and Foxes. So is this basically a back door into their realm? Because the twisted door Ter-angreals each only take you to either the Foxes or Snakes, I assumed they were sepperate realms. But Brigette said the tower took you to both, do they live in the same realm? I guess we will find out more in the next book. Also, do you think its kinda weird that no one has ever seen the tower before, being so close to the Two Rivers, like you think it would have been stumbled apon......you kno…

Ok i know and love the trilogy, it was like a bible for fantasy series, and all writers after Tolkien have to use his ideas to some extent. Its very hard to have some new ideas about creatures (dwars, gnomes etc.) , magic and evil vs. bad. Some writers manage very well, one of them is RJ in my opinion. His world is very original and i fell in love with it. But a few things which are just to simillar piss me off. For example: -Two rivers tobacco.... - Hmm shire pipe-weed anyone? -Rand,perrin,Mat - Frodo, sam,PIPPIN(Perrin?!!),merry -Small town with with a farmer growin weed who is scared to travel and doesnt want to leave his home town (Frodo-Rand) -A wizard comes…

  20. So I am currently just embarking on another read of the books, I've just gotten into the Dragon Reborn, and upon reading the chapter that Egwene faces the trial of the Accepted. When she is in the second arch of the Ter'angreal she sees Rand pinned to the ground by a pillar of stone from a fallen ceiling, he asks her to kill him saying that its the only way to save him, that he has to focus inwardly to keep at bay the insanity that probably was the same fit that took Telamon in the prologue of tEotW, and that the darkfriends and Aes Sedai coming for him would be able to turn him to the Shadow against his will. When Egwene comes out of the Ter'angreal she asks Sheria…

At the end of TFoH, Lanfear graqbs Egwene and Aviendha and screams "which is Aviendha!" This despite the fact that she knew who both Egwene and Aviendha were. She met Egwene in the Tower and refers to her (when discussing dreams with Rand) and the little farm girl, and when disguised as Keille in the Waste refers to aviendha as "the aiel Jade" She had to know which was which. Rage induced Amnesia perhaps?

Just finished a re-re-read of the first book and I found the end more confusing than I remember it to be lol. So some questions: How did Rand get from the hilltop where he'd killed Aginor, to Tarwin's Gap? Where did the steps come from? Did Ishamael make them? Where is the room Ishamael and Rand fought in? Was Kari al Thor real? If so then how come Ishamael had her? When Rand cut Ishamael's black cord, was he severing him from the TP?

Hello All I am curious about the seals. We know they shouldn't be able to break--they are breaking, or at the least are very fragile. The thing that I have wondered about, to some great dissatisfaction, is that Lews Therin wants to break them. IN LoC, A New Arrival, pg 80, Lews Therin voice thunders up "break it break them all must break them" but also "break them and must strike quickly, must strike now." The "strike now" is what gets me. It seems to parallel the dark one's counter strike in some fashion--was that counter strike (the taint) directed at the seals? Or is it simply that LT should break the seals, let the dark one free, and "strike quickly" befo…

So I was just reading the scene where Rand first meets Siuan. Moiraine and Verin are also in the room, Lan has not been allowed to enter, he gave Rand a little coaching beforehand. Anyway, I was just wondering if they did something to him with the power. First of all, we know now(thanks to later books) that Verin is capable of compulsion to a certain degree, and that the stronger the individual the harder it is for her to compell them. Secondly, we see somewhere earlier in the book Moiraine saying that he WILL proclaim himself the Dragon if she has to force him to, or something of the sort(apologies, I'm too lazy to go back and find that part now... but I will i…

I'm reading KoD, and Rand and Min and Dobraine and Irien are in the academy, in the library (I think). Min is looking for some of Fel's books, and Rand is looking out the window down to what I think is supposed to be a steam engine that someone is building. He is thinking something about people inventing things, making new things, and LTT says something like 'We are not scholars, not you, nor I, nor the other one'. Something like that. Rand thinks 'who's the other one?'. Which I have to say was my first thought. Is this pertaining to the body swap theory, or to the one lives and one dies' theory? Is 'the other one' the man who will either live or die with Rand? Morid…

A little amusement for a Monday. -- How RJ might have revealed Asmodean's killer... I was going to make it a little longer, but then figured that people wouldn't bother. A Killer Revealed The sun shone weakly in the crimson sky over Shayol Ghul, the swollen clouds gathering overhead covered the land in a faint drizzle, metallic-smelling water saturated the parched ground. The vegetation was sparse and no living creature could be seen for miles. The steady pounding of the smiths of Thrakendar and the shrieks of their victims created a grim backdrop. Suddenly there was a bright flash of light, a thin silver line appeared in the air, widened, and then sl…

How did Haman, Corvil and Erith show up at the manor in Tear? Were they heading back to Stedding Shangtai, pissed that they Loial in the Two Rivers, 5 books ago, and just decided to stop at every manor in the hopes they came across their wayward Ogier. Is Elder Haman Ta'Veren, to just show up att he right place at the right time? Is Erith, like my ex wife, possessed of some unearthly sixth or possible seventh, sense that allows her to know where Loial is and what he is doing at all times? Or, was it Rand, as ta'veren, drawing to him what he needs, which is assistance from the Ogier, which he reluctantly gets from Elder Haman?

First of all, if you have not yet read Mistborn, you ight want to skip this thread, as there will be some spoilers. And I strongly recommend Mistborn to all fans of WOT. Now, that said, on to business. But first a small disclaimer, I have not finished Mistborn yet, so I might have misunderstood a thing or two. That said... Brandon Sanderson said about Mistborn that he wanted to write about a world where the evil antagonist won. Now, as I have understood things so far, the Lord Ruler was originally a mortal, who somehow gained divinity. This reminded me a lot about something in WOT, Cadsuanes comment about how Rand winning TG in his current state might be…
