Hello, Recent events in my life made it difficult to comprehend the last 3 books of WoT. I am rereading the Knife of Dreams and came upon this part where Logain met Rand (p. 422).. got confused with this part when Logain said: "Gangs of strongarms provide what little order there is and they extort food and coin from people they claim to protect and take whatever else they want, including women." The bond suddenly held white-hot rage, and Nynaeve growled in her throat... So is Logain bonded to Nynaeve?

Hi all, First time poster, but longtime WOT fan. I have read all the books and now I am making another strafing run through. I noticed that in the GH Chapter 6 Aes Sedai notice the prophecies written in blood on the walls of the dungeon. One of the writings was written in "angular" writing. Also, Padan Fain was surprised when he recognized who rescued him, but he seemed to know who it was. Then in TFOH the letters Rand receives in Carhien from both 'White Towers' the one from Elaida is written in "angular" writing (probably written by Alviarin Freidhen and signed by Elaida.) Do you think that it could have been Alviarin that rescued him and wro…

Ok after the last battle Mat will became Tuon's warder which will give him alonger life. With help from one power Perrin will have a long life. Then being AS make you live longer. So Perrin will rule half the bordorlands for about a 100 years. Matt will be the king of Seacan for about the same. Nyn will rule the orther half of borderlands about 300 years and elyane about the same with andor with ewgene as armlyin of the white tower for 300 years. So is this fair for the common people in these land

first the DO is too suspicious of even the forsakens to let them channel in his vicinity...(he probably hates Lanfear as much as he needs her, lanfear doesn't like anyone stronger than her) but i dont understand why he even restricted his own dark enery from the forsaken's use to only moridin....many of the forsakens may have escaped death if they had been able to use that dark enery like Semihrag for instance, or the spider.

Hi all I was wondering if anyone know or have any opinion on what different races(our world races)live in Randland? Are everyone "Europeans/Americans" or are there Asians, Arabs and Africans aswell? And in what countries do they live?

Rand goes to FM so he can take out as many Rogue Ash'amen before the Cleansing, because he knows that the Cleansing is going to be a dangerous time. So why doesn't he prepare MORE when they get to SL. He had Lan and Ariel and AS and just common sense to set up a battle plan before he started. Why not get and use their advise? First of all. Before he started why didn't he have the Warders and Ariel mark out a circle of say 100 yards radius. They could have marked trees and such by cutting notches on the inside of the bark and/or put up flags on the inside of bushes that would not be visable from outside the circle. Then he and the other channele…

During the AoL the Ways did not exist and now they are severly limited. Shadowspawn can't even use Traveling Gateways so the forces of Light have exclusive use of mass transportation. That means that the Light can move massive armies in next to no time. So they can mount massive attacks in just hours, send large groups behind enemy lines in moments and pull in forces for a needed defenses in very little time. So what gives. The armies of current Randland can be moved quickly and near immediately to protect any area that Shadowspawn is about to attack. They have NO chance. The Shadows Channelers seem to be the only mobile force and significant thre…

One thing I've noticed is that every possible issue I could think to present a theory on has already been debated to death here ::), so rather than formulate my theory on the lesser knowledge I have, I will just ask for what the common theories are in the following matters: 1) If Rand is to survive Tarmon Gaidon(sp?), how will he do so? 2) If the Bore is to be sealed as if it was never bored into, how will that be achieved?

Okay, we know that Ishy corrupted the Seanchan prophecies, but I want to know is how much did he change them? With them mentioning Perrin(the whole wolf-king thing), seems like there is at least a little truth left there , which makes me wander what else the Seanchan have/had that Randland does not. So far, I believe, no one except the Seanchan have mentioned prophecies concerning Perrin, and only Noal mentioned one concerning Mat. So, as I said before, any theories as to how badly the Seanchan prophecies are corrupted?

I have started another re-read of the series and I was confused at something that happened in The Eye of the World. When they go into Shadar Logoth for the first time and Mordeth lures Matr, Rand and Perin down to help him carry the treasure out.....at the point you think Mordeth is going to attack he screams and starts yelling about how they are all dead...and then runs away. What happened? Why didn't he get them? and why did he run away? and what did he mean about them being dead?

I'm new here, but I recently read back through the series, and wanted to see what people thought about the Broken Crown of Saldea. I searched through old threads, and a few mentioned the Broken Crown, but many of them touched on other subjects and/or were old. I apologize if a new thread was not warranted. This post will likely be lengthy, but worth the read, I hope. The Broken Crown has always bugged me, and reading back through the books reminded me of it. I decided to dig around and try to figure out what it meant. We know RJ liked to draw from myth, historical civilizations, etc, so I decided that would be a good starting point. RJ said that Saldea was based on p…

It's universally accepted the Rand is stronger than Nynaeve and in all likelihood he is. In TDR, Nynaeve is watching 10 full Aes Sedai linked through what is likely the most powerful Sa'angreal in the Tower and thinks to herself. "I couldn't handle half that much" Hubris aside, that gives us a benchmark that would put her very near the top, and she hasn’t even reached her full potential. These wer not weak chcannelers, Suian , Alviarin, Verin, Alanna, Sheriam, to name a few. Not weaklings at all. If a weak angreal doubles a channelers capacity like the wopman clothed in her own hair (and we know this from The Path of Daggers, The Breaking Storm), then a …

I know that the generally accepted theory is that Mat's luck was catalysed by the binding and removal of the SL dagger, which I don't have any real issue with, but I was thinking about the timing and came up with the following; What if Mat's luck was "imprinted" on him by the Horn of Valere as a way to safegaurd the Hornsounder until TG? The timing between blowing the Horn and being separated from the dagger are really close, and while Mat has mused that the dice starting rolling, so to speak, after he was cleansed in Tar Valon, he couldn't even stand on his own two feet by the time he got there, so if the Horn had bestowed him with his luck he wouldn't have not…

What have we seen as far as weapon-weaves from Aes Sedai. I'm just trying to get an idea of how they can stop 1-2 million trollocs with either either none or a few angreal and sa'angreal. This is just for Aes Sedai. I'm excluding other channelers

Since tEotW there are very few mentions of these cords that connect people to the power and to the dark one. The only refernece i can really find is when rand cuts asmodeon off from the dark ones security in rhuidian(sp?) but even then he doesnt actually SEE the cord like he does in the first book he just KNOWS where it is to be found. Anyone have any views on why RJ decided to stop us 'seeing' these cords in the later books. Cheers

Mine would definitely have to be Mat. Outof all of those who have come from the Two Rivers he seems to have grown up the most and he seems to despise the idea of anyone having to be subservient to anyone else. *Just tell me if I have forgotten anyone. :)

Is it possible that Taim and Semirhage will be forced to fight in Tarmon Gai'Don while wearing adam? I seem to recall that Taim said he would be at Rand's right hand at the last battle...how ironic would it be if he was but forced to be there? We all ready know that a adam was used on a Forsaken to force her to teach what she knew. Why not use them to force them to fight? Everyone is thinking Rand will be collared and forced to fight for the Dark One but it would be a real surprise to see that plan get turned around 180 degrees. TwoRivers Born :'(

I heard a very old Bonnis Tyler song on the way to the office this morning and once I stoppped chuckling, I got to thinking. (In case you haven't guessed, I'm obsessed with the Horn) We have evidence that of all the Heroes bound to the Horn, only Gaidal and the Dragon has been spun out normally. One of the Heroes, Shivan the Hunter, is referred to as the "herald of the end of Ages" Since the age is about to turn, shouldn't this soul have been spun out to herald it. The Dragon has a job to do and therefore, that soul was spun out to do it. Obviuosly the same is true for Gaidal, although I suspect his birth may have been in anticipation of Birgitte being …

Ahem. In various discussions, there has been some ... uncertainty ... as to how much inverting/reversing weaves and concealing the ability to channel actually hid someone while she was actively channeling. Allow me to quote Melare Sedai, describing what she saw and felt while Leane was turning the Southharbor chain into cuendillar. This can be found in KoD, prologue (page 91 in my hardback edition) Emphasis mine. So, when a woman is concealing her ability, and reversing her weaves, she cannot be detected at all. Not only is the glow of saidar not present, but other channelers cannot even feel that she is channeling. That means that Verin…

I have been thinking about the last fight Mat had in KoD. He engeneered the fight so that his attackers would think that he had Tuon, and yet when they arrived and saw that she was missing they did not ease up on their attack. At the beginning of KoD we saw Suroth order the attack at Semiherage's urging so it is an attack from the shadow. Later we see Moridin issue orders that Mat and Perrin are to be killed on site. We then saw an attack on each of them. My thinking is that the army Mat fought was made up mostly if not entirely of darkfriends who received orders to kill Mat on site, which would supersede their Tuon killing orders. If this is the …

What made Lan 'a man alone?' (I listen to the audiobooks so I'm going to butcher 'An Alain') In A New Spring when the Aiel (all 600 or whatever) stamp their spears and shout it then leave, was there ever a reason discussed for this? Was he too honorable to fight against? Question 2.. at the end of book 11, 6 sisters used gateways, when only 3 in the tower were supposed to know how.. Beonin, Elaida, and Egwene. (aside from Alviarin and Mesaana) Where did these other sisters learn?

OK. Shadowspawn can not use Gateways - it kills them & the Ways are partly closed - blocked by Rand's orders. So what about Portal Stones. The Forsaken are very knowledgable about things from AoL and prior so wouldn't they be able to use Portal Stones to move Shadowspawn around? I would think that it would be much better than using the Ways because Mack Shin kills so many and some many exits are now closed. Surely a forsaken would not have had the problems that Rand did. What do you think? Has this been discussed before.
