Okay fine then.... What is so important about a old gleeman? Will he save save and/or marry Moiraine? What does his past have to do with current events? Will he help with the extermination of the Red Ajah, or at least crush it beneath his foot? What happened to his son again? What is his relationship with Moiraine anyway? That good enough for y'all? And Demendred you can post all you want that I'm an idiot but I don't really care. I can give intellegent answers, I just choose not too. So :P :P

Mat has to be my favorite character in Wot. He is just so damn cool!!!!! Now I really don't think that Mat is gonna let himself be tied down with something like marriage. I'm sorry I just don't see it. Mat not carousing in taverns, pinching serving girls, GAMBLING???????It is just to weird I really don't think it's gonna happen.....

In KoD, the Aes Sedai find out that the taint has been cleansed, and it's always bothered me that there didn't seem to be much reaction to what is undeniably the greatest victory of the Light in 3,000 years. They mostly seemed concerned with the new weave to detect a man's channeling. They just don't seem to grasp exactly how important that act will prove- men no longer have to fear channeling, which means they no longer have reason to give extra weight or respect to Aes Sedai. I wonder what will happen when Elaida finds out (hopefully she'll be told by Mesaana, that would awesome).

I'm curious to know how people see the actual "sealing" of the bore. I always see people talking about how he will re-put seals on it, but, since the wheel will come around again, he can't just patch it like LTT did, he needs to heal the bore so it never happened. My personal pet theory on the sealing of the bore is that it needs to be done with "the song" or some song involving the ogier, aiel, etc. We've heard for too darned long about this song and the way of the leaf for the bore to be sealed with just some fancy new weave of the one power. And, the Ogier staying should be more significant to the final battle than just another set of axes in battle or the who…

I'm on my second read-through of the books. And my one biggest criticisim of the entire series is that the 5 origionals from Emonds Field got stupid somewhere along the way. Its been 2 years, max, since they left the two rivers, and none of them are honest, trust, or talk to each other like childhood friends. I just got through Lord of chaos again. How much simpler would the entire salidar/band of the red hand debacle have been if Egwene had simply talked to Mat as if he were anything but a dog. or Rand and Egwene. so much BS about how hes getting harder and not showing respect ect on egwene's part. less than a year ago, she was going to marry the man. None of …

I think I've raised this topic before, but I can't remember if anything came of it, so I figured I'd raise it again. My issue is, Ishamael sent Jain Farstrider to the Ogier with warnings about his intentions to destroy the Eye nearly twenty years ago. Then he saw to it that the Maidens found out, and let them escape south too. He mentions it to the lads frequently, and who's to say how many other trails he laid. So why was he so interested in luring people to the Eye? And it seems as if it were more than just Rand--I mean, Jain delivered his message twenty years ago. The Maidens... what, three years ago. Both before Ishamael knew who Rand was. And when Rand…

Are the Ogiers going to leave Randland? It seems very much like they will do the same as the elves in MiddleEarth and leave by the end of the series. The conversation about opening the Book of Translations seems to point to this. TwoRivers Born. :)

Okay, so I was on my way home from work today and I started thinking about Laman's Sin and the "Aiel War" that ensued and by the time I had worked through my logic, I can't help but find a bit of a paradox at the outcome. I'll explain: From the 'wetlanders' stand-point, the Aiel War started when they poured over the Dragonwall, sacked Cairhien and went on their little rampage and then somehow were defeated and driven back. From the Aiel stand-point, there was no war...they crossed the Dragonwall for one purpose and one purpose only: to punish King Laman for his sin as an oath-breaker. Now, to my knowledge, we do not know what Oath he broke exactly, but its prett…

  10. Just reread aCoS, where Noal appears first. This guy always intrigued me cause I couldn't figure him out. The first scene wich mentions him Noal Charin POV - He is watching a white three-story house where two Aes Sedai are staying. It is the home of a goldsmith. The two thugs Arnin and Nad are there. He has missing memories. He is the old guy Mat spotted who followed Lady Shiaine from the racetrack. He has had two long knives over thirty years. He knows there is something important that he has to remember. (from http://www.encyclopaedia-wot.org/, ACoS: Chapter 17) doesn't mention his name nor what he is doing there or how he got there. Noal doesn't introduce himself …

Hello all, I'm currently in my third re-read of the series, and something has caught my attention that I wanted to share. I'm currently about halfway through The Great Hunt, and just witnessed the scene where Ba'alzamon, (aka Ishamael) comes to Rand while in the portal stone world, and realized while reading that Ba'alzamon constantly calls Rand Lews Therin. This makes sense since Ishamael knew Lews Therin, but Ishamael went further to say that he knew all of Rand's past names and lives. This also makes sense since Ishy had 3000 years with the DO to learn all the DO knew of the Dragon, but if that's the case, then why did Ishy not continue to brag and call Rand by his …

In a KOD the Empress, (may she live for ever ha ha), dies along with her court leaveing Tuon as Empress. I know RJ was going to write a book on Mat & Tuon 5 years after last battle. But with RJ gone (may he rest in peace) will we find out what happens. It all can not be covered in AMOL unless it's 2500-3000 pages. Good luck to Brandon but RJ could not have left that many notes.

AFAIK, the survival rate for the ter'greal used to test for Accepted (the 3 arches) is 25%. Though I haven't read the prequel (yet!) I seem to recall hearing that it's a similar % for the ter'greal with columns that has the 100 tests used to raise Accepted up to Aes Sedai. 1. Is this accurate? 2. Isn't it quite stupid to effectively cull about 15/16 of your potential strength? and what's the point?

I've been re-reading the series and I'm sorry, but the characters put way to much store on Min's viewings. I think one time she is gonna be wrong and it gonna affect the entire story...... they do not even try to have a fall back plan in case on major things. Like Elayne's babies she is way to confident they are going to make it. It's to risky I'm sorry. I do not care if you could tell me what I'm thinking when it comes to my kids screw what you say especially if I'm royalty fighting for the throne............... :-[ :-[ :-[

Well i never minded her and shes a cool character and all. But aone thing has really angered me. Every time Rand has to do something dangerous she gets all stupid stubborn about wanting to go along, just like going to the meeting with DoNM(Semirhage) Rand suspected a trap, EVERYONE suspected a trap and she STILL wanted to go along, even when she knew she would just be an extra ballast on Rands leg. And see where it got him? He chose not to dive away because Min was behind him. He lost his hand and pretty much his sight, when i realised it was Min's fault i got angry and cursed her several times. Many people think she is the best female character and she truly is, bu…

I think I distantly remember Luckers posting something about a nod that GRRM made to RJ, and I either came across the same one, or a new one last night. In a Feast for Crows, one of the characters mentions how Archmaester Rigney had written that history was a wheel and that human nature was cyclical. Whether it is new or not, I thought it was pretty cool.

  18. Is it because people aren't just "reproducing" as fast as people die? I can't figure out a clear explanation. After the Breaking, the population rose and civilization was rebuilt somewhat. Then after the Trolloc Wars the population once again went down, but it later went up again. Why is it that now, after the Hundred Year war, that the number of people in Randland has dropped?

Rand (LoC) - Countless thousands of sparkling lights, like stars or fireflies, rushed into a great blackness, trying to fill it up, rushed in and were swallowed. There seemed to be more lights than she had ever seen before, but the darkness swallowed them at a greater rate, too. Rand and Perrin (LoC) - "When you two were together, I saw those fireflies and the darkness stronger than ever...But with the two of you in the same room, the fireflies were holding their own instead of being eaten faster than they can swarm, the way they do when you're alone. And there's something else I saw when you two were together. Twice he's going to have to be there, or you... If he's …

  21. OK - As you should be able to tell by the title - I am not her biggest fan, but I will try - yes really TRY! - to give her a fair view. She was always strong willed, domineering and more that a little - shall I say - unlikable, but other than that (which can be said about a lot of AS) was she really all that bad? Yes, she de-throned Suan and had her stilled but I don't see that as completely unreasonable. Even in Suan's & Moraine's POV's (I think)we heard them mention that they were walking a fine line that could result in just that happening. So it did happen - I don't so much blame Elida for that as Suan for not being in real control of the WT. …

In CoT (@ work w/no books) when Monelle is "caressing the child" for Elayne, she specifically mentions that Elayne will not be able to channel while she is in labor, but it will come immediately after they are born. Is it just me, or is there something ominous about this statement? I wonder what’s on the horizon for my least favorite wonder girl….

I just had a thought reading a few other posts, to do with prevention against the Black Ajah. Now RJ stated that sisters with the potential of being black are studied and approached cautiously (probably over the period of 5 - 10 years). But at some point a black sister would have to reveal themselves to the candidate eventually. The candidate then becomes black or dies. I was thinking of how effective a 4th oath world be against this. Such as screaming black at the top of there lungs the second they find out. (Yes the sister will kill them, but hey they were gonna die any way, or become black). While this may not capture the sister, it will certainly stop them from …

Did the Gholam kill Barthanes? I just finished TGH and it occured to me that the murder resembled Harid Fel's death. Also, the Gholam likes to tear off heads ie Tylin's murder. I originally though it was Fain or one of his Trollocs but the were already well on their way to Toman Head when Rand left the party at the Manor and Barthanes was alive then. Verin? Has this been covered and I missed it?

I just had an idea which might be completly crazy... and might have been discussed before but I have not found any references... so here goes... Moridin seem to keep helping Rand... The Dark One does not want Rand dead... Rand needs to die to live again... Could it be that the only way the Dark One can break free is by having the seals broken but more importantly to take over the Dragon's body??? That could explain a few things...

How did the Ashaman become so strong in OP so fast . It takes decades for the Aes Sedai to gain strength but the Ashaman become strong in just 1 book ?. They are formed in LOC but start facing Sammuel in the ACOS !! . Even the super girls start learning in TEOTW and it is only by TFOH that they achieve strength . It is not an isolated case with just the Ashaman though . All those male channelers , false dragons required more than one Aes Sedai to capture them and the AS suffered casualities even then . The man had no one to teach them and had no experience fighting female channelers . The Reds on the other hand are AS whose lives are dedicated to cap…

  28. I was re-reading KoD Egwene's chapters and we see her walking from class to class or AS to AS or to the Cafateria or When she leaves her first class when Katerine sends her again to the Mistress of Novices for dis-obeying the instructor and she clearly DOES NOT HAVE AN ESCORT / guards. This just does not make sense to me! The WT is BIG and has MANY, MANY hiding places and many servents corridors so why does she not just find a good place to hide until the Forkroot wore off. Then she could "Travel" back to the Rebal camp. Sure many times she had escorts - but several times like this she did not. Is this an RJ error? Has it been discussed before? …

Egwene had that dream where Gawyn essentially either accepted bonding and would presumably marry her, and another where he would spurn her. What will happen if he finds out Egwene is in the Tower, and the rebel Amyrlin besides? Moreover, what will happen when he hears about Elayne being in Andor, about to be crowned without the First Prince there to protect her and lead her armies? What will he decide: to be with Egwene, or to be with Elayne, or something in between somehow? I somehow think he'll hear about Elayne first and will go to her. Sometime either before or after that Ewgene will meet Elayne in Tel'aran'rhiod and tell her where she is and tell her a…
