Hi all, First time in this section so I'm not sure if this has been discussed before. Sorry if it has. I'm re-reading the books and am currently reading book 2 'The Great Hunt'. Rand's afraid to channel because he thinks he is going to go mad or hurt someone. I'm up to the point where they have entered Stedding Tsofu. They all feel the change and Rand knows he can't channel here. My question is, and I don't know if they explain it in later books, if Rand dosen't want to channel why doesn't he just stay in the stedding?

The dangly moons and stars in cadsuanes hairs... These are angreal, used for things like wells and detecting a mans channeling, right? It seems the RJ likes to drop one sentence clues throughout this whole thing.. There's a meeting in The Fires of heaven.. Some of the forsaken, Graendal, Lanfear, Sammy and Ravine. when lanfear steps out, her dark hair is done up with silver crescents and stars... She ends up falling into the foxland doorframe. And then comes back disguised as cadsuane??????????????

Okay I've read through it at least a couple dozen times and I still don't quite understand how Rand did it. I understand that he linked with Nynaeve and attatched the clean female source (saidar? saidin? I can never remember which is which) to... something, but I don't understand the reason. Why was he at Shadar Logoth? Why did he only use the female source? Or did he use the male source as well? What the sam heck was that huge black ball? I'm assuming it's supposed to be the taint, since when it imploded the taint was gone, but why was it there? I need some serious help understanding this... ??? :-\

Hello All I decided this morning, over a chicken biscuit and the ridiculously named "Pure Life" Nestle water, that I am going to re-read the Wheel of Time. I think this makes it four times all the way through with the odd chapter or even entire book thrown in from time to time. However, I do have a question for all you--who has read the books in reverse order? I don't know if the idea is simply insane or just . . . idiotic, but I think I'm going to try it. Given the perennial mysteries that the books contain, I think that perhaps I might find some answers if I start at the last point that anything occurred and work my way to some conclusions by going backward . .…

Another thing i've picked up in CoS is a viewing that Min has, that perhaps Rand has mis-interpreted. After he finally comes out of his seclusion and they have their little heart-to-heart, one of the things she says is that she hasnt told him all her viewings. She tells him that she has seen him, and another man and they merge, one dies, one lives. Rand takes this to be him and LTT (and strangely thinks to himself "but i've always know i'm going to die) but could it be the whole body-swap thing she's seeing? I'm afraid i'm not familiar where the body-swap theory came from but could it be something to do with this? Even if it is, I think this is anot…

It was a Black obviously, but who? and why? If the BA wanted to know about Min, they could have snatched her at any time while presenting the rumor that she snuck out.

After the last book is published in paperback, I do hope that some kind of compilation of notes and the audio recordings that RJ made before he passed will come out for the public. That would be fascinating to look at in some context. Dear Mrs. Harriet's editor's notes and some commentary by Sanderson as well would be EXCELLENT. This would make a great companion to a comprehensive collectors edition of the series. I mean, not to be too commercially-minded, but this would sell. In the meanwhile... In the age we live in, it wouldn't be too outlandish to have some kind of film documentary to follow Mr. Sanderson on his journey to complete the most epic of epics. In…

I've always been a bit intrigued at Perrin's ability to read the pattern in his wolf dream. Its almost a combination of Min's power combined with that of a Dreamwalker's ability to read the "future." Anyway, the most interesting one for me can be found in TSR at the beginning of the scene when he is hunting Slayer/Isam in the Wolf Dream and finally about to wound him. A series of black windows open up and he sees..... "Mat vanished, and it was Rand. Perrin thought it was Rand. He wore rags and a rough cloak, and a bandage covered his eyes." I've always wondered what he was referring to here....i'm rereading the series for the first time in many many years,…

I know there's a alternative thread regarding what will happen now in terms of AMOL & TOR (Who Should Finish MOTL?) however this is more to do with the particular writers that were discussed in that other thread. In particular a certain Mr Goodkind. Strangely I'd seen the Tribute to Robert Jordan several times but I only just realised today that RJ had passed away, my he rest in peace. I've been noticing today a generally good humored light heated bashing of anyone who suggests that Goodkind should have a stab at finishing AMOL. Now I've been on these boards long enough to know that RJ and in turn most of you loyal fans care little for Mr Goodkind although I wouldn't …

I first started searching the ranks of Tairen High Lords for dark friend treachery after the first time I re-read the Great Hunt. In the prologue from the pov of Bors we are shown that their is a High Ranking dark friend among the upper nobility of Tear: He caught sight, under the edge of one dark robe, of the silver-worked boots of a High Lord of Tear. I propose the man under that cloak at that gathering at Shayol Ghul was Weiramon. While almost to a man the High Lords are capricious, and disloyal only one is also an almost constant thorn in Rand's side. At Cairhien Weiramon is such an abrasive presence that He is sent back to Tear to command the invasion arm…

Everything becomes dark and all of a sudden Perrin finds himself in towers or something. He sees 2 men walking to each other and the start talking and arguing. Ba'alzamon appears again and the 2 men are scared of him. Ba'alzamon does something with fire all the 3 of them are gone... Who are these two men? Isam and Luc? Is this the birth of Slayer?

I was watching Kingdom of Heaven last night and I think that Giannina Facio (who had a very small role as Saladin's sister and a very large role as Ridley Scott's squeeze during filming, later his wife) would make a perfect Queen Tylin. Oh, and DJ Qualls as Padan Fain.

I'm curious as to what happened to Rand's eyes when Semirhage ambushed him in Knife of Dreams. The black flecks reminded me of the saa in Moridin's eyes that was supposedly the result of using the True Power, but Rand never did use the True Power. And why was his vision so distorted after the battle? It seemed to be something different than the double-vision that he suffered at the end of A Crown of Swords, more like he was seeing through water...

I just read a theory that Sylvase might be Moghedien in disguise, and Jaq being her darkfriend pet torturer. Not that I buy into that theory, but do you guys think there could be more to her than meets the eye? Only 'proof' we have is that Jaq is good at (likes to) torturing people, that Sylvase became High Seat of her House after Nasin died from a seizure.

Just wondering about Chaos today, and these four names came to me as creating at one time or another issues for major people in the books. I left out the Chosen, these four people were some major thorns in the side of the Light. I know there are alot more Friends of the dark out there, but the 3 Friends lissted above are major Friends. Sevanna might as well as been working for The Great Lord. But she was not a Friend of the Dark. So, who do you feel created the biggest waves for Chaos. My pick is for Sevvanna, yes she was a dupe of Sammel, but at the same time she was the force that pretty much broke the Shaido.

I just thought the similarities were very overbearing for anyone taking a deeper look into it. Some of the similarities between the Catholic Church vs Aes Sedai I noticed: 1) Single sex order 2) Members are seen as more educated and wise than laymen. Often they are asked for advice when the possibility arises. Both tend to speak in riddles. 3) Members are deeply respected where they are presented it is considered grave manners to be rude to Priests/Aes Sedai. 4) The Amyrlin is called "mother", whereas the Pope is called "father." 5) Amyrlin is elected by a council of high ranking Aes Sedai. Not much unlike the Pope being elected by the Cardinal…

Greetings everyone from a new member to the site. A friend and I have put together a rudimentary role playing game and as such we wanted to create maps for use with our game. This led me on a frantic search of the internet for an Old Tongue font that I could use when I create them. After a few hours of searching, the only thing I found was an adobe PDF document on this site calling the Old Tongue script by the name Domeran. As I was unable to find a true type font for it, I borrowed the domeran.pdf file that was found here and used it to create an OldTongue.ttf. In keeping with what I believe, and considering I found it here, I figure this would be where I wi…

Seems like only yesterday …. I have photos of family around me in my office. They are a gentle reminder that we work to have a life, not the other way around. In CoS when Rand gets slashed with Fain's dagger they bring him back to the palace. When he wakes up he hears Min yelling "you'll kill him. I won't let you kill him!", and she had been crying. Even Alanna was worried, and tried to sooth Rand's fear as he is waking up. What was that all about? Who was going to kill him? Last I looked they were just watching him rest hoping Flinn's work would help heal him.

On a hindsight, one thing I've found rather unusual is why Aes Sedai learn to fight other Aes Sedai. What I mean is slicing weaves. I can understand learning to make lightning and shields from air to protect and defend from normal assailants, but why learn to slice weaves? For an absolute society that claimed authority over channelling women, sitting in the top tier of the power hierarchy and lives in denial of the Black Ajah (and hence enemy wielders of Saidar), it seems strange that AS would know how to slice weaves. The very notion of learning such a thing seems to imply the acknowledgement of the presence dark friend channellers.

I'm trying to find a copy of Path of Daggers on CD for my father for a Christmas gift, but can't seem to locate it. Has this one ever been put out on CD? If so, does anyone know where I might be able to get a copy of it? If not, does anyone know where I can download a copy of it for him? He listens to the books in the CD player driving to and from work, and I'd hate for him to miss a whole book simply because we can't find it on CD for him. Can any of you help me out? I would really appreciate it (and so would my father). Thanks! Tammy F.

So we've all discussed the main characters and their appearances many times over, but what about the Forsaken? Some of them i just cannot put a face to, maybe you can. What I have (and you're all going to jump on Rahvin immediately) is; Rahvin - young Burt Reynolds Semi - Grace Jones Mesaana - Geena Davis (although this completely goes against the descriptions of Danelle!) Lanfear - Angelina Jolie crossed with Kelly Brook The rest of them I just cannot put a solid face to, what do you have?

After watching a show on the History channel about Pigs/Hogs, a thought occured to me... The one thing the Two Rivers was missing, was a Butcher. It seems to me, that a Butcher is a Primary aspect of that type of society... They specilized in cutting the meat, perserving it, and either toke a cut of the meat for them selves, or 'sold it back' to the people for a price. They often required special tools, that your basic farmer didn't necissarilly have... The two rivers, Had To Have Had, some kind of livestock, how else would they fead everyone? And I'm sure Everyone didn't own 20 head of cattle! I don't recall there being any mention of a butcher in the two rivers, only …

Hi all, I do not know if this was discussed before but during my current reread of wheel of time, I am at KOD, an idea poped in my head... Rand has got LTT in his head... LTT says the he has a man in his head (Rand)... Mat has memories of past heroes... Heroes are being reborn... Forsaken are being reborn... The wheel keeps on turning... People see the past of the futur in different ways... Egwene with her dreams... Min with her viewing... Now could it be possible that there is only one battle against the shadow? Could both Rand and LTT live their own lives concurrently at the same time and will be facing the DO at the same time bu…

I've been reading up on Verin at encyclopaedia-wort.org and have come across the fact that when Rand channelled at the portal stone to take them all to Toman Head, 4 months were lost. Do we know what happened to the rest of them in this 4 months? or did EVERYONE in the story effectively lose 4 months? What events happened elsewhere during that 4 months? I wonder in my very cynical way whether Verin wanted Rand to channel, knew somehow that 4 months would be lost and wanted that to happen for him / them / someone to avoid a particular event, or else fast-forward to another event... If they went back through the same portal stone, would they regain that tim…
