An interesting thought I had was the exact reasons why Rand fights. As far as I can tell, he isn't fighting for anything at this moment; he is simply fighting because he has to. He is the Dragon Reborn, destined to fight the DO at TG, and because of the tendency of prophecies to fall into place around him, he continues on to fight the DO. Now, what’s wrong with this? Well I know that when someone once started hurting my cousin, I hit the guy harder than I think I could duplicate. Translation, I fought/hit harder because I had a reason to fight, my family. It seems like Caddy has about the same idea with the making him 'strong' as opposed to his current 'hard'. He is …

I just got to thinking, how Elayne reminds me a fair bit of Ce'Nedra, wife of Garion (the hero) in the Belgariad / Mallorean books by David Eddings (??)? Also (cue Terry Goodkind scorn) Birgitte seems to physically resemble Cara, Mord'Sith in the Sword of Truth series... apart from all the skin-tight leather of course, although i'm sure Birgitte would actually quite enjoy that. Perhaps that's the answer - Rand could do with his very own Belgariad. I guess Moiraine was the closest he got, but she can't instruct him in Saidin. More of a Polgara.

I'm reading CoS, and have just read the chapter 'Patterns within Patterns' where Sevanna and her Wise Ones are met by what we know to be Sammael and Graendal. After the meeting, whilst the forsaken are walking back through the woods, a 'watcher' follows them. The watcher remarks on each of the pair, describing personality traits that suggest they are known to it (the watcher). Who is the watcher? Could it be Demandred? I got the distinct feeling it was male.

I've been trying to wrap my head around these things, specially the difference between severing (lets just use that term) and being burned out. Is there a difference? During the AoL, did they have different names for the two conditions? Siuan could feel Moghedien through the a'dam, but Setalle couldn't apparently feel Joline at all. I put apparently in there, because we have Mat's POV, and he doesn't really ask if she feels anything, unlike the supergirls and Siuan, but the scene seem to hint that she feels nothing. In an earlier thread Luckers (iirc) theorized that Irgain, Ronaille and Sashalle wasn't as much severed by Rand, but crushed - more akin t…

So as I was reading, it occured to me that everyone seems to take it as established fact that angreal multiply a channler's strength by a certain number depending on the angreal. Is there a reason for this? I always thought that an angreal just added a specific amount of the power to what a channler could wield. If I'm wrong on this, please let me know!

My copy has gone walkabout. If memory serves there is a section detailing the Ajah ratios. Can anyone with a copy of The Guide handy look them up for me? Or if what I'm thinking of is in fact elsewhere can anyone point me in the right direction? I have muffins for all useful answers ;)

i dont post here alot, just read all the good theories out there but one thing struck me as odd. Alot of people think that channeling will be gone in the fourth age, why would that happend. Would Rj have gone trough all the trouble of new talents(or old) to be introduced just to have them lost again soon after. What would be the use of the discovery of making ter'angreal or the discovery of all the stashes? It would be plain useless then, something that strike me as pretty weird as they have just been introduced. Then there is elaida's foretelling, of the tower being STRONGER THEN EVER when its reunited. Would it be as strong with the power gone, for some odd r…

If you were one of the Chosen for a Day in Randland, which person would you most like to play with for a that day? *evil grin* Myself, I would choose Semirhage. And the person I would most like to have in my Hands would be that, hawk nosed Faile. I would like to send her back to Perrin a simpering fool!! All of the things she can do to make people beg for release. Disclaimer, In real life am a nice person. These are just....thoughts!! ;)

Ok I'm probably the biggest idiot on the forums for asking this, but we always hear that when someone channels, that they WEAVE the flows into somthing useful. How do you weave the OP? I'm pretty sure you dont take out a loom and start makin a rug in the middle of the battle, and the needle and thread ideal of weaving kinda seems slower. and what does a weave look like? is it like a rug in a sense? Comon guys enlighten me.

Im curious to see what some peoples viewpoints are on how Elaida's reign will end and what will become of the tower, will it crumble, will it unite under Egwene or will it combine with the Black Tower all...etc Personally I think Egwene will break the tower from the inside and expose Elaida as a bad leader and basically do to Elaida what she did to Siuan(but with alot more backing from the Ajahs), then I think she will seak combining of towers with the Black Tower (after Mr.Taim gets blown to you know were...hopefully)

Sorry if this has been discussed before But I am currently rereading Lord of Choas (LOC) and in the chapter called threads of Shadow near the begining of the book Grehndal and Sammeul are talking and they are discussing LTT. And they start talking about how Ishamel was the Philophiser and the Theoliean and that Ishy states that the cycle has been going on since the world was created and that at times The Dragon WWAStaken over to the Shadow and became they're champion. If that happened wouldn't the Dark one have won? Wouldn't he be free? Your thoughts in this.

While reading another thread I wondered if it is possible to make a person able to channel that previously didn't have the spark or the ability. Nynaeve said that something was cut or like a gap, couldn't an Aes Sedai bridge that gap in a normal person to make them able to channel? MM

So I had my Ipod on shuffle today and Disturbed "Down With the Sickness" comes on. I started thinking if Wheel of time is somehow made into a movie/tv series/whatever, how awesome it would be for "Down With the Sickness" to be playing during the Dumai Wells scene. Anyone else have some songs that they think would fit certain scenes?

Yanno reading through all these therioes and speculations about what may happen in AMOL there's one question that I'm not sure has been asked. How do you seal the Bore completely? And how can that be done when channeling at the Bore would cause serious consequences for said Aes Sedai/Asha`man. I don't have a theory since I've scratched my brow countless times trying to come up with one though I'm not sure for the rest of you nutters out there.

I have read that some people love that Perrin is the Lord of the Two Rivers. For me it was a big dissapointment. I loved the Two Rivers as the people with no lord and that they were proud of that fact. This really just ruined that whole area for me. How about you? What do you think about the Two Rivers having a lord and it being Perrin?

I've got a couple of questions, that one of which I have been thinking about for a while. 1) Who killed Asmodean? lol. But seriously. Are we certain that Osan'gar and Aran'gar are Aginor and Balthameal respectively? And not the other way around. If, so is there proof in the books, or was it a statement by RJ? 2) Now my details may be wrong on this. But when Rand used the Portal Stone to go to Falme, Verin said that it took them 3 or 4 months to get there. Now according to earlier in the book Verin left her warder behind when Moiraine 'sent' her to Rand. Now I cannot recall her warder (Tomas?) turning up. So wouldn't he have lost the bond with her during these mo…

The thing that vexes me the most is ,why did no ,all knowing aes sedai survive from the havoc made by mad men and the wars with forsaken. I was reading about the age of legends and i found a passage which reminded me about the portal stones. They could be used to travel to different dimensions and worlds... So now why didnt any aes sedai use them to rescue himself and a handfull of people to another dimension or world. Maybe they could take some artifacts or books with him to secure knowlege about the blessed ages. Why did so many terangreals ,sangreals and angreals survive but no jo'kars, the flyking cars, shocklances and other crap from the AOE survive?? Why when they…

Does anybody know of a good site that has all (or at least most) of the questions and answers that Robert Jordan has answered. I have seen numerous people post RJ's responses but I am not sure where they are from. Any help is appreciated.

I was thinking, one of the things that impressed me about these books is the fact that RJ does such a good job describing HOW male/female channel. He quite comprehensively covers what goes on when someone channels. He normally goes into great detail regarding the HOW of things in the books, except in Fain's case. We all know that Fain is one badass not to be trifled with, but we don't really HOW he does what he does. I mean we know the dagger has linked him Shadar Logoth and that he's pretty much this Mordeth character now. He seemingly can manipulate his surrounding (well that 'evil mist' thing, which is pretty dangerous and most likely a form of Mashadar) But we don't…

ACOS, chapter 20. Moridin is spying on Sammael and Graendal, and one of the things he hears is Sammael strongly implying that he has gotten a promise of becoming Nae'blis. And his thoughts about that... As we all know, later in the book Moridin helps Rand kill Sammael. The reason he gives Rand is that many plans has to be relaid if Rand dies at that point. But what if Moridins real reason is to change truth, to kill a possible threat to his own position as Nae'blis? To show the DO that he does have the strength required to stand near the DOs glory, despite being thrice defeated and once killed by Rand already? That could be an explanation why Mori…

So when you enter that door frame you get an answer to three questions, we all know that. Now, we have heard time and again that the Aes Sedai have lost the knowledge of weaves and how to make all the different types of angerals. So the question that comes up is, can the Aes Sedai enter the door and ask how to make them? I personally don't see any problem with this, but even so, why didn't the Aes Sedai in the past do this. You can say that they didn't know what was inside the door, but how did Moiraine know? We all know that she is very intelligent, but I would imagine that after the door frame was studied by Aes Sedai in the past, that someone else knew about it as…

Why does everybody refer to the Aes Sedai as being the Women who were in charge before and during the Breaking,,, they were not,,, they were convicted felons sentenced to live in Bondage under the OAT RODS as punishment for their crimes ,,, they evolved into a structure for law and order after the breaking but before the Breaking they were women , and maybe also men, who had been convicted of crimes and there punishment was to do penence under the yoke of the Oath Rods ,,, doing community service for life so to speak ...

Two things I'm wondering about... 1. How do women from Far Madding figure out that they can channel? Especially if they will never even sense the source without leaving Far Madding. I suppose some can be snapped up by Aes Sedai while they were outside Far Madding. But surely that's not the only source of Far Madding Aes Sedai? 2. Is the long-life associated with being Aes Sedai/Asha'man because of actually channeling or because they can channel? For example, women in Far Madding with the spark inborn, who never figure it out and never really touch the Source or only touch it once or twice, do they gain the longevity too?

While Aes Sedai are in Far Madding, or a steading for that matter, do the Oaths hold? I mean we all know that the Oath are directly linked to the ability to channel, so in theory it's at least possible that they don't hold. It all depends on what makes the Oaths stick I suppose. A women who is burnt out and can't even sense the Source is no longer held by the Oaths. For all intensive purposes while in Far Madding or a steading any channeler is the same as someone who has been burnt out....
