I've noticed a lot of talk about Asmodean, and I wonder why the big deal, Take into consideration I just Finished Crown of Swords, so please no spoilers, but I thought that when Rand went to fight Rahvin, that Balefire brought his friends back to life. I do not recall what happened to this character. I take it that I will know in the next couple books? I do not even remember the character dying? Maerirn

  2. I am very sorry for posting this except from memory - and a very defective one at that. Please feel free to correct any errors. OK. In EotW when the AS bring him to Caymen in a cage, Logain sees Rand up on the wall, and starts laughing. Then some where in Salidar he is talking to one of the three girls and he says that he once saw someone who was going to cause much more chaos and death in the world than he (Logain) ever did. Now I initially thought that he was displaying the ability to see tavern. But now that I think back on it, it sounds more like a Min type of vision than seeing the tavern (glow). Has this been discussed before? Thoughts…

OK. So I've heard almost 400,000 people give reference at one point or another about Slayer doing something. It's been a while since I read the books, but usually I can at least remember WHEN characters are mentioned. I don't know if there is already a post on this question, and frankly I'm ashamed to ask one that I'm sure most people know the answer to. However, I just can not remember who Slayer is, and where he has played a part in the story. Can anyone give a quick summary on who Slayer is, and when he has been present in the book?

Recently rereading came to that dreadful chapter in Lord of Chaos were Alanna bonds Rand  My copy of Lord of Chaos paperback is in very bad shape because I threw it at the wall. That's definitley a sign I'm way to in to a book, but who cares! I'm frickin pissed at Alanna. She is a jerk, then in Winters Heart she claims Rand is hers. I hope she gets like exiled in book 12, because I'm pissed at her. Anyone else want to express their anger at her.

I was rereading the chapter in which Rand kills Sammael last night, and I couldn't for the life of me remember if the guy's identity that helped Rand in Shadar Logath was ever revealed. I'm on a reread right through the series and haven't read the last few books in a while, so I didn't remember this guy helping Rand. Do any of you know who that was?

Ok here is my personal theory on asmos death: The coincidence in Rands announcment about recruting male channelers and asmodeans death i think are crucial. We are pretty sure tazrim is a darkfriend, so he has to be known to some forsaken and the dark one for sure. Slayer has to be known to all forsaken and at the commands of the darkone. So lets look at events in LOC - shadar speaks with osangar and tells him he will channel when he tells him to, and that he will take orders from shadar now. It means it has a plan for osangar as he has plans for all the forsaken from now on. The plan for osangar is probably to pretend to be dashiva. But if it was planned by…

I'm curious to see what you think. Will Rand or the DO win? I've always assumed that the Light would win, but when thinking of it now, I'm not sure. It would however kind of destroy the entire series if it ends with the Shadow winning. Perhaps not destroy, but it would be kind of weird; We've had eleven books of wonderful story and build-up, and RJ has created an enire world that we like very much. So, my real question is maybe this: Would it be possible for the Shadow to win, or would it destroy the series? Would RJ drown in angry letters? Does he HAVE to make the Light win?

How is it possible for the Aiel war to be many times more devestating and destructive than it actually was in the original plot ? While I am aware that a more severe Aiel War might actually delay the birth of Rand Al Thor , is it possible for an Aiel War that was fought from the Spine of the World to Toman's head in another portal stone world , and how would such a war change the future of that portal stone world ? The war ended when Laman Damondred was killed , so the only way I can see it being dragged out is if Laman Damondred stayed in Tar Valon during the Battle of the Shining Wars , and , once the Alliance's armies have been defeated comprehnsively , som…

In the book most call BWB but I call SBB(small black book, I have the pocket version...) It says that the second most powerful male Forsaken was Aginor. In several discussions and also on the place called wotmania he is counted less dangerous than guys like Demandred or Sammael. How can this be? Which is true? At least wotmania says that Aginor has 90 in strength and Demandred 95. When he returns to life was he as strong as before? If that´s the case how did he act infront of Rand and the others? If you follow the info from SBB it would seem quite mysterious when a new guy is coming close to rivaling Rand. Or was he masking a part of his ability/strength? Which for m…

Hello there! New guy here from Sweden so sorry if I don´t know all abbreviations yet... I just wonder if anyone have a clue what might happen with Isam and Luc. If one dies will the other die also? Or maybe both have to be killed at the same time? My own theory is that Lan will kill Isam and Perrin Luc, or maybe the other way around... :-\ Is there any other thoughts? Maybe this has been discussed before. If so please guide me to that thread. :) / K

  14. Hi I'm new here, well as a poster, but I have been reading the forums for quite a while now. Anyway Lanfear was exploring the bore to try and find a power source that both men and women could channel. If you think about it the true power could count as that. Sure only the forsaken can use it, and as of Knife of Dreams I doubt anyone but mordin would dare use it, but for a time a select few men and women could use the same power source because of Lanfear digging in the bore. Thoughts?

I have one question, and the rest is discussion. What is going to stop Rand from using the male Choedan Kal in Tarmon Gai'din? It obviously can't come into play because Rand could destroy the forces of Dark in a matter of seconds with it. So aside from that, how do you see The Last Battle happening. Where? When? Why? How? Who? How many? What?

anyone else feel like Eye of the World was a slight rip off of the plotline of Lord of the Rings? The first impression I got reading the book and understanding that plotline, by itself, was a very close similarity to the plotline of Lord of the Rings--especially The Fellowship of the Rings...some small town boys get picked up by a magical person and go through various [and similar in concept] adventures, focused on a single destination. But instead of the "one ring", the point is the "Dragon Reborn" [and the eye]. And they have to destroy it, in the end, like the ring.

What title does it for you? Suppose you were shown all the books, and asked to pick one, going by their titles only, without any knowledge of whatever is inside, or without the art cover to give you a clue. Which would you pick? Personally, I think Lord of Chaos is one of the best titles R.J. ever came up with. I liked the book before even reading it, just because of that title, and the book lived up to my expectations as well. I like Crossroads of Twilight, there is a mysteriously chilling sound to it. And I liked the Dragon Reborn as well--up to the point where I realized that Rand only makes a cameo appearance in a book that should have been dedicated to him. …

I was rereading LoC, and in Chapter 6: Threads Woven of Shadow, Graendal, Sammael and Semirhage all make references to a "binding". I can't for the life of me remember what it refers to or if it's even particularly relevant to the story. What are they talking about?

In KOD the Shado Aiel are on their way back to the waste while the rest are all over because of Rand. It is said earlier in the books that Rand will take them back to what they where {not a direct quote}. So my question is this what will happen to the two groups of Aiel {Rand's and the Shado}. Who will keep the name Aiel or if they both do how will that affect the out come in the long run.

  25. I was just thinking about the infamous 'gasp moment' and it reminded me of a scene in the books that... kinda stuck a chord with me. I was just wondering if anybody else had a particular scene that, while not necessarily your favorite; left an impression on you. For me, that scene was in The Shadow Rising: Ch26 The Dedicated Regarding the Da'shain Aiel: "You Da'shain have more courage than...Ten Thousand Aiel linking arms and singing, trying to remind a madman of who they were and who he had been, trying to turn him with their bodies and a song. Jaric Mondoran killed them. He stood there, staring as though at a puzzle, killing them, and they kept closing their…

I edited this post because I didnt wanna make another thread so I decided to replace my original question with a new one, if someone was gravely injured and taken into the world of dreams and healed while in there, would they be able to heal and live as long as they remained there? I mean they would obviously be returned to their former condition when they go back into the real world but to what wounds could you survive in the World of Dreams that you couldn't otherwise survive?

  28. Started by Theandrin,

I've been thinking about this the past few weeks now, and no amount of searching has proved to have an answer. We know that Aes Sedai in the AOL were stronger and knew a lot more weaves than the current ones(or so the current Aes Sedai think anyway). My question is, how was it lost? Unfortunately I cannot quote where I read this from, but I believe I read somewhere that when the white tower was founded there were 20 Aes Sedai there to get things started. I would assume that these are Aes Sedai that survived the breaking(again I cannot quote that). So if this is the case, why were they not fully trained? I can understand that as Aes Sedai grew weaker that th…

  29. According to encylopedia-WoT, there are 1880 characters mentioned in the wheel of time books. Assuming that even 1000 of those are one or two times mentioned, and not necessary to the story line, that still leaves 880 characters. I find that I sometimes have trouble remembering who a secondary character is, especially after a weekend or so without reading. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you deal with it?
