Ive been rerreading LOC and had a few questions came up. 1. Why does Rand keep inspecting the Saladean horses? I assume its part of Rands Sammael plan, but I dont get how doing this helps in that. 2. In Shadar Logoth Elder Haman says Rand can provide better protection than him, this seemed to have some meaning, and Rand was curious but dismissed it. Any ideas whats meant here? Is it just that Rand can channel? 3. Whats Demandred doing in Camelyn? He makes a gateway from the Lion throne Room after watching Elayne there. 4. What Slayer doing in Tar Valon? At least the TAR version? Egwene sees him I think right after the Aes Sedai are pulled into the ni…

We rarely find out what Rand is up to untill shortly before he does it (though we sometimes recieve multiple clues). Beginning with his sudden decision to go to Rhuidean, and most recently with The Cleansing, Rand has shown he has a plan, hes just not letting on. My thought is, does he have a secret plan to reimprison the DO, or is he just winging it? Also, on a side note sort of, what were the three questions he asked in the ter'angreal in Tear? Didn't one of them pertain to victory at TG?

Okay, as promised in the "I don't think Be'lal was meeting Ravhin" thread, here is the long awaited connect the dots between Be'lal, Demandred, Sammael, and Taim. First lets talk about the similarities and rivalries among the above mentioned forsaken, (excluding Taim for the time being.) Be'lal, Sammael, and Demandred all share the distinction of being generals under LTT in the war of power, all three, for reasons of their own went over to the shadow. All three were acclaimed as important generals, all hated LTT personally, and none of them got along with the others. It has been mentioned in other theories, the beliefe that Demandred did not try and take…

Hello all. Have finished KoD a week or so ago after taking a 4 yr break from WoT, have lurked a bit on the forum and have come up with a nice theory. -------------------------------------------- Serving the Great Lord is morally OK? Or how I learned to stop worrying and love Ishamael. This is a rather long theory so let us break it up into several parts, which we will consider separately. 1) What is the Wheel of Time? a) it doesn't exist b) it is finite c) it is infinite 2) Can the DO break free in principle? a) yes b) no 3) What will happen if he does? a) destruction of the Wheel and total oblivion b) 'Dark Ages' where the w…

Sorry if this has been addressed beofore, but how accurate are Min's viewings. She says that when she is sure, what she saw will definitely happen. But can someone die before their part in a viewing happens? For example, if Alivia jumps off a cliff, she would be dead before she helps Rand die. I always thought that made sense, but I was confused when Elayne was sure she was invincible until her babies were born, just because Min said they would be healthy. Am I wrong, or is Elayne?

A thought just came to me, however this hinges on one particular fact that i THINK i read somewhere, but need clarification; were the Forsaken Aes Sedai in their time? I'm sure I read that they were (although i know that they each had their own 'profession). If this is true, I wonder... It takes 13 Aes Sedai, as we have seen, to shield and hold a man who can channel (Rand). But nothing says the sex of these Aes Sedai. There are 13 Forsaken. Is it possible that this could be significant? Granted some of them are dead, Rahvin is gone forever as the rules of Balefire say, but the rest... even Asmodean could quite easily come back at TG. Is there anything to s…

This is pure speculation here and feel free to flame me, i'll just ignore it. Has RJ said that Demandred hasnt been encountered yet, or is that just us assuming so? Is it possible do you think, that he's a character we are well-acquainted with, but he hasnt been revealed yet? He could be anyone, if this was the case? Hiding away, not causing harm but not aiding Rand either. He could be... Galad, or Taim even, although i think that's been disproved before, he could be one of the whitecloaks (other than Galad); Dain Bornhald would be a good one although we've had his POV already. Of the main 'races' so far however, many of them have / have had a Forsaken in t…

I'm on book 7 (for the 3rd or 4th time) and Lan has just reached Salidar, as his bond transferred to Myrelle upon Moiraine going through the ter'angreal with the green-eyed-monster (aka Lanfear). Did this stop him wanting to avenge Moiraine any more than Rand? Normally we know that Warders die avenging their Aes Sedai but did the 'bond swap' stop this? Will it keep it at bay forever and what impact will it have on Lan (I havent read the last book in print) when Moiraine reappears?

I was curious about some things because I'm really bad with these timelines. Maybe it's because I'm a waiter, the days just seem to blend into each other and suddenly I realize the month is over. Anyway...I was wondering about Semirhage's storyline this morning. When she attacks Rand, the sul'dam gets affronted when she commands her to be quiet and reveals that she's been posing as Anath. Tuon does a little flashback and reveals that Anath was sort of a surprise choice for her Truth Speaker, that someone else had been primed for the position and then suddenly Anath was there. This leads me to some questions... Since the hierarchy of the Seanchan …

I will start by saying for the record I do not think these girls are even remotely normal. :'( NO NORMAL FEMALE IN OR OUT OF HER RIGHT MIND WOULD SHARE THE GUY SHE LOVES, WITHOUT EVEN A FIGHT!!!!!!>:( A woman’s natural jealousy and possessiveness would not share a man without a fight even if the other competitor were her best friend. After that said I am sure, you would agree how abnormal these girls are. ;D I am sure you have seen best friends become enemies over a boy. If you had a guy you liked, he returned the feelings and you were together. How would you feel if someone, even your closest friend, never mind your friends friend also had a serious re…

Something just struck me and there's probably a perfectly reasonable answer for it but i think i must have missed it. Aginor and Balthamel are returned as Osan'gar and Aran'gar (I can never remember which way around) who manifest themselves as Dashiva and Halima. When Halima goes to Delana in Salidar, she announces herself as Aran'gar, and Delana knows the name instantly and knows to be terrified of her; have i missed something, or are the names Aran'gar and Osan'gar just 'known' within the Darkfriend community? Another question (I havent read book 11 yet) because its' annoying me; is Taim, or is Taim NOT a darkfriend?

Most people believe that our "age" is one of the seven ages in WoT, and the third age is in our past/future. If you've never heard this before I'm sure someone would be happy to point out all the clues in the text that support this. There is some question as to whether each soul is reborn in each age, but this is likely the case. Consider that Birgitte was reborn several times in the current WoT age, though she is not an average soul. If all this is true, who were the main and other influencial characters in our age? And, could their past lives give clue to whats going to happen in AMoL? Some ideas: Artur Hawkwing- King Arthur Lan- Lancellot Egwene- Gwenevir…

Hello everyone. I hope I'm in the right forum for this question. I'm trying to find a good discription of the tattoos that the Seekers for Truth have. The most I can find is that one is a Raven and one is a Tower. I have also been having trouble finding where the tattoos are mentioned in the books. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Okay, I've made most of these arguments in other threads, but I thought that I'd consolidate them here, so that each facet of this argument could strengthen the other. I feel that Illian will play a pivotal role in AMoL. There are several reasons why I believe this, and I will detail each of them individually below. First, Illian is where roughly half of Rand's forces are gathered. While it certainly is possible that they could be moved where ever they may be needed by use of gateways, I don't think that time will be spent in AMoL to do so. It seems likely to me that there will be a trolloc force that will attack out of the Shadow Coast, and the forces now statio…

As a result of some long held opinions, brought to the forefront of my mind by recent discussions, I have decided on a recommendation that I think Shai'tan should have given to Moridin, as part of his "Welcome Back, Transmigration 999" package. It is a memo, consisting of two words. Kill people. Moridin has the resources to create utter mayhem within the forces of the Light. He has Cyndane and Moghedien under his pretty much complete control. Through Shaidar Haran (who obviously would be cooperative if the Great Lord was on board), he has a considerable measure of dominance over the others as well, especially (for the purposes of this idea) Aran'gar, the said…

Perrin was kidnapped and Faile became obsessed with rescuing him... Rand was a woman shared by three men... Morgase was a king who had been subjugated (if that's the word) by Graendal... Aes Sedai were male with female Warders... etc. etc? Not saying it would be better or anything. Just interesting to think about. Some of the gender-role reversals already in the books, such as those among the Ogier and Sea Folk, have got me pondering.

A random thought that I felt the need to post...might be spoilers for anyone who hasnt finished the series off Most of the WoT characters stories are considerably interwoven but Elayne and Rands babies are going to be considerably confused. First off, their parents are very distant cousins. Then you have Min, who their daddy is also with. Not to mention Aviendha, who not only is with their dad and mother to their halfbrothers/sisters but is also Aunt Aviendha thanks to her being sister via adoption to Elayne. Now, if that isnt confusing enough, there is Uncle Galad. Or, more appropriately, doubly-uncle Galad. He is Rands half brother and Elaynes half brother and…

I've been plunking down 50 dollars a shot for the audiobooks and now I am about to stop. I am on book six the Lord of Chaos. (Should be Lord of stupidity) Does the series get better ? Seriously this book is just garbage, characters are plain idiotic I loved the first 5 books and they were quite enjoyable. The series has been geting worse and even book 5 was stretching it. Nothing has so far happened in this book. Is it just me or does Robert Jordan realy think that women are that stupid and men that egotistical. Egwaine being close to Rand is now working against him Elaine is just spoiled retarted child. Rand is doing nothing, Perin dispeared, Mat is a complete…

Beside bit players, how come nobody dies in WoT? The Forsaken all get born again. Mat, Rand, and Perrin get stabbed, clobbered and even hung. Yet they dont die. Just when you think it is safe to go back in the water, Moiraine will be coming back. (If Cindane did...) We've all read from beginning to end, or book 1 to 11, but not one main character has died. I've finally read the Harry Potter books 1-6 and am on 7 now. I never read them because I thought they were childrens book. They are written for young adults, right? No problem with getting rid of people. I think RJ loves his characters way too much and cant let go.

I have respect for Robert Jordan writing 'non bad guy' characters that are inherently unlikable, with real flaws and issues. He also writes from a very unique perspective for a fantasy novel - the thoughts of the characters. And those thoughts are sometimes less then interesting, but hey, not all my internal thoughts are deep and profound. One things that's particularly interesting about this is that thought and action aren't always the same thing. So you can have a character saying "I think this and will act this way, and I don't give a damn what you have to say", but when the time comes, their actions are different then their thoughts. I think that's why there…

Rumors and rumors of rumors During Dragon Conn in Atlanta last week rumors flew about that my brother/cousin was gravely ill, wasn’t eating and had in fact had “Last Rites” administered. I just got off the telephone with him and he’s surrounded by laughing friends and relatives and is about to enjoy a shrimp-based bowl of gumbo. He [...] http://www.dragonmount.com/RobertJordan/?p=89

The scenario In some freak event people discover the One Power, discover the Dark One and his prison, and most importantly discover that in fact we live in a world governed by a WoT mechanism as described in RJ's books. Don't try to think how this will come about, just imagine it happening and assume that we are absolutely certain that this is indeed the case. Our technological progress stalls to a halt and regression, technological, moral, economic - sets in, even despite the vast improvements in productivity possible from utilizing the OP. You You are an individual with substantial strength in the OP - Logain/Alivia level - and as such are a significant p…
