In ACoS, why does Nynaeve start crying when she finds out (or is reminded about) slowing? She keeps asking herself how long till she has her wrinkles too :S could she actually *want* to see signs of aging?

  2. There have been some fairly comprehensive theories put on on the topic of the relationship between Egwene and the Seanchan in relation to the upcoming attack on the white tower. I spent some time tracking down every mention of the seanchan in prophecies, foretellings, and dreams, and withe the exceptions of the ones that I felt were too vauge or had obviously been fulfilled I think that it is possible to make some assumptions about how the Seanchan and the Tower will interact in AMoL. Okay to start there are the two most obvious references to how the attack and subsequent relationships will develope. Egwene had two dreams regarding the Seanchan and the White tower.…

  3. Don't get me wrong. I think that Caddy's interogation of Semi will (Potentially) provide some interesting ground for RJs artwork, but what I'd really like to see is Verin to work her "little trick" and make Semi a true convert. I just think that it could be very interesting.

Another thing I noticed. In book one, they are 18. 2 years later, they are all masters of war. Rand can wield a sword and beat every other swordmaster (except once). Mat beats up all the boys on the training field in Tar Valon with a staff. Perrin just becomes murder with the battle axe. As someone who has actually seen combat and cried and pissed myself, why do these 3 boys become Ninjas after 5 training sessions with Lan? Lan is the first person I would guarantee lives through to the end. I know Rand and Mat have the wierd force thing going on, but please explain Perrin. He is an idiot who all of a sudden can slaughter 10 veteran infantry troups with …

Hi, I've read the series several times but this time around, as its' re-read #5 i'm discovering that i'm picking up on small things that i didnt notice before, whilst i was still taking in the overall storyline. One of these things is that to travel to Salidar from outside Caemlyn where she was camped, Egwene enters Tel'aran'rhiod in the flesh... how does she do that?

A woman's purse holds many objects of feminine mystery... but none so mysterious as what lies within... Cadsuane's basket. *dundundun* So... who's brave enough to take a peep and say what lies within Legendary Aes Sedai's sewing basket?

  9. Started by Darkness Incarnated,

The Wheel of Time is a fantasy work, so some things (a lot) that would defy the imagination in our own world fall within the realm of 'normal' in the series. But there are some stuff that puzzle me, whether it's my understanding that's flawed or RJ's mistake, I would appreciate if any one clarified a few of them, or posted their own. I don't have the books with me, so bear with my descriptions if they are flawed. Here are a few that I can think of, in no particular order. --Towards the end of the EoW, when Rand battles it out with Aginor. I've seen this brought up somewhere else, I think. Aginor could have killed Rand very easily, but didn't. He could have shi…

  11. Started by Mr Hindley,

On a slightly less serious than usual note - given the God-awful artwork on some of the book covers (before they switched to just having the Wheel of Time on every one), I have an alternative suggestion. The fair Cadsuane (of this forum, not the books) has by now provided us with quite a variety of 'legs' shots, which I think most people would agree have proven quite popular. If she came up with 12 pictures in total, one for each book, I think they'd be a great improvement. Each one would have to have something relevant to the individual book, of course, but I'm sure something could be worked out... All those in favour..?

  12. Started by The Lost One,

Below is a quote from Luckers that was in another post. I had no idea Aran'gar was using compulsion on Eqwene. I just thought he was creating the headaches to interupt her dreaming and her concentration. And ensuring to be close by her side, since he or she (Halima) could cure the headaches. Does anyone know what some of the ideas he tweaked were? or any other things he compelled her to do or not to do? I can't remember things she changed her mind or did differently as a result. I will look from them in the next re-read. Was he doing anything else? Quote from Luckers: "A side point here, Egwene is a different case. Aran'gar kept her compulsion s…

  13. Chapter 37 of the Great Hunt: What Might Be. Using a Portal Stone, Rand takes Mat, Verin, and others from Stedding Tsofu to Toman Head. Sadly, things don't work out as planned, and it takes months to 'reach' Toman Head, as each person lives alternate lives. We watch as Rand continually loses to the Dark One, no matter what happens. "I have won again, Lews Therin" whispers the Dark One after each death. Honestly, this is one of my favourite chapters in the series, taken by itself. HOWEVER ... 1) How come Rand never sees a future life that parallels or even comes close to his real future? No "he goes to the Aiel Waste, unites the clans, takes over some cities…

Why is it that "normal" Ogier can't stay for long out of a Stedding, but the other Ogier(those from Seanchan) don't seem to suffer the same way? I don't think even Jordan can answer this one.

Not sure if this has been brought up, I haven't checked this forum for a long time, but I just thought of something. Aes Sedai are bonding Asha'Man and Asha'Man are bonding Aes Sedai. What if all new Asha'Man had to bond one new Aes Sedai and the same Aes Sedai had to bond the same Asha'Man? They'd both be bonded together. No one would be in control, yet it seems like they'd work rather well together. Just a thought.

In WoT, the tinkers are known by another name, the Tuatha'an, the travelling people. In Irish mythology the Tuatha De Danann are, among other things, supposed to have brought druidry and chariots to Ireland, as well as being prominent Pagan Gods. Don't know if it means anything but I thought it was interesting anyway. Here's the link to the wikipedia sight - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuatha_D%C3%A9_Danann - have a look Ithiliarn

  17. Started by DubbleChrisP,

So I was reading through the FAQ on wotmania.com for the first time today. Real fascinating stuff. Anyway, I was reading this topic, and it really made me think of how it would tie off in AMoL. Obviously RJ wouldn't add in this whole conspiracy for no reason, so my theory is this: Mat and Thom rescue Moiraine, Moiraine tells Thom who was involved in the illegal gentlings that most likely included his nephew, Owyn. Thom erupts in a righteous fury, so to speak, somehow makes it into Tar Valon, somehow assassinates Elaida, thus ending the seige and break in the Tower. Obviously that's the short-and-sweet, and I have a feeling that it'll be a bit more detailed and c…

Hey guys, for those of you with the patience to read this, I was attempting at an even handed summary of the theories surrounding Cyndane; but since i have very strong views on this i was wondering whether people could have a read through and see what they think. Also, if I've missed anything, or if anything is unclear I'd appreciate knowing that as well. The Mysteries of Cyndane Is Cyndane Lanfear? The short answer is, yes. There was some confusion over this based around Demandred’s comment that the Forsaken no longer thought Cyndane to be Lanfear based on Graendal’s assertion that Cyndane was weaker than Lanfear had been. However the similarities between …

  23. This is a bit of topic but seeing how, on the old forums at least, there was always a thread asking for recommendations on what to read while waiting for AMOL I thought I'd do a bit of shameless advertising for The Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper. I only found out about the series when I saw the trailer for the movie, I know how embarrassing for a self proclaimed fantasy buff who prides himself on being so widely read, and I just finished the series and I have to say it's a great read. I mean yes there were little things that made me say oh he's a little too perfect or she's too whiny etc. On the whole though it''s a brilliant series that doesn't fall into the traps…

  27. Probably grasping here, but I'll throw it out there anyway... Facts... Or close enough... Moiraine is in finnland (Eelfinnland to be exact). When the door to Eelfinnland was destroyed Lan's bond was transferred to Myrelle. Mat believes the Eelfinn somehow witness the lives of those they have made bargains with. Mat doesn't know the Eelfinn's price for the bargain he made with them. Mat, Thom and one other (Noal) are going to attempt to rescue Moiraine. Guesses Suppose that Moiraine is captive (or stranded) in Eelfinnland but has not been stilled. In that case the event that severed the bond was the collapse of the door between two worlds. Wi…

  30. in mins veiwing, she said that she saw the images of two men, one died and the other lived on. This could meen that the spirit of Lews Therin dies and Rand lives, but that will only in a babillion years. Most likely, Rand reseals the DO's prsion, and then as he's coming out of the PoD, Moridin confronts him and they battle it out. Rand kills Moridin. But since he healed the dark ones prison, the wound in his side may in fact burst open instead of healing. Just think of the wound being like a patch. when the patch is gone, the hole can't be resealed. Neneave is to late to save Rand, or he doesn't want to be saved, and he dies on the slopes of Shayol Ghul. The soul …
