Yeah, um... what all is up with Birgette? If she was pulled out of TAR, then she can't be spun out again. What kind of effect will this have on the pattern and such? I'm of the opinion that when the Horn is blown, she will be able to get back in.

  2. Started by Neilius,

Don't know if this theory has been thrown in to the mix yet but it's what I have been thinking about lately. I believe Rand is killed before the last battle. I wont speculate how but thats what I think happens. As the shadow looks prepared for victory Matt, Perrin, and the rest of the major characters prepare to make there last stand. Matt somehow reaquires the Horn and blows it just as they are about to be overrun. Lews Therin comes out of the Horn with the rest of the heroes of ages and defeats the Dark One. While he is battling for there survival some Ashaman and Aes Sedia form a powerfull circle and seal the prison up. Somehow after that I think h…

If you have 3 books you have a trilogy. If you have 12, what is it called? All I could think of is a dodecology

  4. Hiya. I have seen threads about movies. I would looooove to see that happen as well. Though I would prefer a series to prevent getting the same effect as Eragon. Stuff a whole story in 90 minutes. So...... IF the story is getting filmed... What would you say? Where would it have to be shot according to you? What has definatly gotta be in, and what can be left out (little stuff) And all that sorta stuff.

We all know that Aes sedai claim that flying is a lost Talent and that ut is for some odd reason impossible to lift yourself. Well in Fires of Heaven Elayne uses air to walk across the tight rope. How is this different? Do you think that she inadvertanly discovered the secret to flying without realizing it? She is technically suspending herself in the air with air. Your thoughts.

Please dont flame me if this is the wrong section for this post, I was not sure where else to put it. For anyone who remembers the board Game Diplomacy, I have written a WOT variant for the Play-By-Email version. I am currently looking for Playtesters. The game is hosted on Diplomaticcorp.com but you can e-mail me directly on how to sign up if you are interested or have questions. There are no fees involved, just a commitment to play through. Games typically take about 6 months to play with 1-2 moves per week. You can reach me here or at Githraine@yahoo.com (Please put WOT Diplomacy in the subject) Thanks! Jason

Egwene is talking about having older Aes Sedai retire into the Kin. Won't this create a power struggle? The active Aes Sedai will expect to run things as they always have. In the past, the Kin tried to hide and did not interfer. If you introduce a bunch of "experienced" ex-Aes Sedai into the mix, I can see them wanting to meddle in White Tower business out of habit and concern. I think of it as Grandpa Walton handing over the sawmill business to John Walton then still wanting to go to work every day and put in his two cents worth. Only with the Kin, given time, they'll probably outnumber the Aes Sedai on active duty. As usual, none of this really matters because it…

I was re-reading a passage from Winter's Heart the other day and found an odd quote by Teslyn. This is when Mat sneaks into the damane kennels and offers to help her escape: "It would help if you did not dress so flamboyantly. Ten drunken Tinkers could no attract as much attention as you do." The options I find are: 1. Mat's clothing really is that 'flamboyant' (not likely, we're talking TEN drunken Tinkers!) 2. Teslyn is able to 'lie' because she obviously uses it as sarcasm and therefore consider it not lying 3. Teslyn is able to lie because she is Black Ajah 4. RJ just slipped Can Aes Sedai use sarcasm? Personally I think RJ slipped, but I just w…

Seanchan animals are overrated, and won't perform against shadowspawn as well as advertised. The big white book implies that the absense of Trollocs in Seanchan is due mainly to the introduction of these creatures from the portal stone worlds, but I find this doubtful. From what we know of these animals it doesn't seem like they'd provide that much of a trump card. The only ones to live up to their billing would be the raken, and to'raken. Their ability to scout enemy forces is certainly unparalleled among any preindustrial army. The Torm, which would seem to be most useful in actual battle (and the most numerous of any exotics we've seen) have a huge handicap. …

  13. Started by The Lost One,

This was a quote from Luckers in another thread. It made me think of a question. I remember when Nicola discovers she can see Ta'veren, the Aes Sedai she tells doesn't make a big deal about it. She says something like, "you can see ta'veren, now run along child" - like its not a big deal. And in other references, it doesn't seem that the talent for seeing a person who is ta'veren is rare. So, if there aren't that many ta'veren to see, why isn't it a BIG deal and how do they know they are able to see ta'veren? How did they determine that they were seeing ta'veren?

If only 3 things are constant in every possible/alternate world, Thr Creator, The Dark one and Tel'aran'rhiod.... Then why don't you run into your alternate self whilst Dreamwalking. I mean, it stands to reason that alternate versions of yourself would also be Dreamwalking. Just something that popped into my head last night whilst reading over the Big White Book.

What is your opinion on the comic book adaptation of New Spring? I own all the comics and I really like what they've done with the book. New Spring was not my favorite book of the series by a long shot, but their adaptation is much smoother and very well drawn. If any of you have the comics I'd love to know your opinion on the books. I would actually like to see the rest of the series as a comic book as well, since this one turned out really well. ***Edited by Alin to add another option the OP wanted to include***

I know someone did a post similar but they talked about how to access the power and im reflecting on the outcome. I believe when you use the power its like getting caght in a hurricane. For example if you were to use lightnig, and wind, tie them off, its like a lightning tornado instead of a shock and a gust of wind. And with a man it would double espiecially with fire.

Few things i've noticed: The game snakes&foxes actually talks about the Aelfinn & Eelfinn.Mat describes them as fox-like and snake-like.The song you sing before you start the game is the question they ask visitors(do you have fire,iron..) And what's with Mazrim Taim? The last thing he said in KOD is "Let the lord of chaos rule." Is he a Darkfriend? I hope i'm the first one to ask these questions.(but i'm probably the millionth)

  19. Started by Kura,

Well, I have a theory on exactly what it takes to channel, though some parts of it are at best sketchy, but most of those are unimportant to the whole anyways. Without further pause, another crackpot theory by Kura. (I seem to have a lot of those today. >_>) Well, to start what does it take to channel? Is it an ability of the soul, or the body? Personally, I think its both. Using the ever useful example of a lock and key. The larger portion, but no more important, is the soul's ability, like a lock contains most of the mechanisms. The actual power of the channeler is in the soul, along with the connection to either saidin or saidar, which shall be explained in …

We all know that the Aes Sedai are bound by the 3 oaths and I think that we are all in agreement that they of all the channeler (except damane) are the most battle ready. But with the 3 oaths I don't think that they will be able to fight the Dreadlords at all. If they are Tiam's Rebel Ashaman(which i bleive they are) they they are technically not shadow spawn and they will not be bale to strike unless struck against. What do you think?

Here is the offical information about the Choedan Kal. http://encyclopaedia-wot.org:8008/items/giant_statue.html and according to http://encyclopaedia-wot.org:8008/items/control_statue.html at the bottom of the page, Cadsuane Aes Sedai took the male access key after saidin was cleansed in Winter's Heart chapter 35. I apologise for repeating this question from a thread over in the Structered Debate links here. However, I hope to spur more answers and discussion specifically about the Choedan Kal and the surving access key. I have been unable to find any further mention of the location of the male access key for the Choedan Kal in CoT or in KoD. Does this mea…

  23. Started by Lune,

So we know that with 13 channellers and 13 Fades, you can turn another channeller to the Dark against their will. But what does it entail? Is it just some sort of permanent compulsion? Does that mean that that person will suddenly act evil and DF-ish, or is it something more like Fain's 'remaking' where they can still think but it torments them, their body doesn't quite submit to their will and drives them mad.

  24. Started by The Dragon Reborn,

Elayne has the ability to make Ter'angreal. I can't remember how much ability she has to control what she makes, but couldn't she make a new female Choedan Cal access key? A small while spent around the male one might give her an idea how to make a new female one. Seeing as it was never a sa'angreal (which she hasn't managed to make yet) but only an access key? Assuming the Nynaeve didn't wreak the giant statue along with the access key.... Also, I'm sure there is a reason that I haven't remembered, but why haven't the Forsaken made their own access keys? Or do none of them have the ability? In the AOL surely the all were taught the process...even if they weren't ver…

  26. Rand felt that it was important that he have a pact with the Sea Folk. Why? What does he know about TG that I don't? I can see them being somewhat useful for moving non-vital goods. But, with Travelling readily available, why does Rand need the Sea Folk? My impression is that most of the action will be land based, not naval. What am I missing?

So please understand, I have complete confidence, that RJ will live for many years to come. But does anyone know if he's been healthy enough to write? I mean we hear from him about once a month, but I gather from his posts that he's pretty busy just fighting for his life.... Again I mean no Disrespect to RJ, but it's a question that I'm sure we are all thinking about....

I never kept track to see if there was any kind of connection amongst the various occurrences. Now I won't be online to find the answer...DRAT!!! >:(
