  1. Started by Orange Fescue,

The thread about taking Rand to TAR in the flesh to heal his hand got me thinking. Well, to be honest, I've been thinking for a while, I'm just finally seeing if anyone else agrees. Do you think Nynaeve is going to come up with a way to heal/regenerate amputated limbs or old scars? I wonder in part because one of the forsaken commented to herself in a PoV that whichever male forsaken had the large facial scar could have had it removed at any time but intended on keeping it until he beat LTT. That and I want Rand to have a "happily ever after" end to the series.

  2. If every group of channelers got together who would end up dominant if the there was no martial combat, only combat by wills? No channeling, no weapons, no slapping ;D etc... Considering previous examples and taking into account Aiel culture, I tend to favor the Aiel although my vote might, just might shift to Rand because he's crazy AND part Aiel. Your thoughts? (Please consider previous examples... like Cadsuane vs. Sorilea, Egwene as a Damane, and Moghedien as a prisoner.)

Obviously a six year old that knows his letters could read it. But at what age do the books make sense? My niece is eleven and I am just itching to lend her tEotW. She has read Philip Pullmans Dark Materials and obviously Harry Potter. But reading and understanding are two different things... Is eleven too young?

  5. Started by Despair,

It's wierd. After reading through the post regarding Rand, Mat, and Perrin remaining friends, it kind of hit me. I know this doesnt apply to many people, but to some, this kind of hits home. If you have a family of 5+ siblings, you cover every type. For instance, we have 5. The way I see it is My oldest sister: Nynaeve. Control freak. Straight A student. A totally badger. Nobody really likes her, but everybody still respects her. Next oldest brother: Rand. Had to take real control of the whole family. He meshed the older sister to the rest of us. In a way, he is the leader of our family. (Plus, he is the big earner, etc..) Next oldest brother: Mat. Th…

Hypothetically speaking, What would happen if Moiraine returned linked to Moridin and under his control? How messed up would that be? If she had an opportunity to heal Rand... Maybe even Rand killing her off in such an event, I'd like to see the DR have to do something like that in front of one of his gals. Try walking away with his sanity then. Hey, I'm just saying for the sake of saying This in no way represents what I think will happen. I doubt RJ has it in him to do this to a character.(Sorry RJ!!)

I'm a bit confused on this point actually. In TGH, Egwene attempts to remove her collar on her own and fails because the a'dam causes so much pain at the thought and attempt of removing it. But later down the line, Mat teaches one of the Windfinders to remove the a'dam and makes her practice doing it twice without any of the aforementioned side effects. What's up with that? Is it a plot hole?

Mine has to be Min. She's funny, independant and cheeky. Also, who do you think Rand needs most? Again I'd say Min. Her visions can be useful to him and she keeps his feet on the ground (kinda). My least favourite is probably Aviendha just because RJ rarely writes from her PoV so I don't feel as though I know her and her character has not been developed as much as the others.

  9. Started by The Lost One,

I am doing a re-read of The Path of Daggers and I was reading through the point where they just comeout of the gateway with the Kin and the Sea Folk and Elayne starts sorting through the stuff they found. She finds a terangreal that she says is not that powerful but with it she could hold double the amount of power that Nynaeve could. I always imagined a decent terangreal would let a channler handle about 25-50% more of the power or so, but if I am reading this correctly a less powerful terangreal will let a channel more than DOUBLE what they normally could handle? more than double....is that correct? If so, what do some of the stronger ones let a channl…

New to this but I'll give it a go. Ok, just curious to see what others think about this....how sane do we think Rand is? Before we get started, I'm not really sure myself on this one, hoping I'll be able make up my mind here. If you remember in The Dragon Reborn, when Egwene goes through the ter'angreal to become Accepted, she sees Rand buried under rubble. He tells her he is literally holding back the madness, that a slight lapse in concentration and he would lose control (assuming that what happens in there is in some way similar to what happens in reality, which I don't feel is that big a leap...). I reckon that if he's not at that point now, he's damn near it..…

The Wheel of Time Guide has a fair amount of info on the people that live beyond the Aiel Waste, but does anyone think they will ever play a role in the Wheel of Time? Or is that going to be something that RJ never goes into except for a possible short story?

Ok i have always wondered y the Ogier gardeners from Seachan never felt the longing? Surely they came from Stedding just as our native Randland Ogier, so y dont they feel the effects of the longing? Any thoughts?

If someone was da'covale and it was discovered they could become a Sul'dam, would she then be freed and have a competently new social status as a Sul'dam have a rather high place in Seanchan society, would she be denied training, or would she become a Sul'dam but still be owned property? Alo on the other side of the coin. if a noblewomen had the ability to become a Sul'dam, would she keep her title and sosical standing even if working as a full fledged Sul'dam. Tuon after all have the ability but she do not work as a Sul'dam, and I do not know if she have the title of Sul'dam either.

Who cares if some sisters are black ajah? What is there to be afraid of? What harm can they do? Are they worse than trollocs of halfmen? Just because they can channel? Because we can't tell the normal sisters from the darkfriends? The black ajah has existed for quite a while. They have to do everything clandestine which makes them inefficient. They will be far more effective when they can work in the open (TG). For the time being, their only real threat is the fact that they exist (and the occasional murder). Are you "afraid" of them? What impact will they have on TG? Will things be different if the efforts in the White Tower (witch hunt) are successfu…

Bael and Davram on a hill spying on Elayne's enemies. Bael makes a hand motion signaling for his scouting party to move out. I just saw in my head him raising his pointer finger and swirling it around like "move out/start engines(?)" from the modern us army/marines. lol

Hi I'm re-reading the series for about the 5th time but after a several year break. My intention is to drag it out so that i finish book 11 as AmoL is published and can finish the entire series as one. I'm on book 5 (Taim has just turned up) and I've read the prologue which portrays the meeting between Demandred, Mesaana, Semirhage and Greandal. I suddenly thought, where are they all? Aran'gar and Osan'gar have just been released - are these Aginor and Balthamel? So, this is what I know (or have remembered) so far myself; Aginor - Aran/Osan'gar Asmodean - Mysteriously murdered Balthamel - Aran/Osan'gar Be'lal - destroyed by Rand in the Stone of …

I dont have my books right now, but didnt Egwene have a dream about a Seanchan woman w/a sword on her back offering her help? (I think she recoiled from the dream due to her time as a damane) In KOD (I belive Chapter 36 "Under an Oak") Banner General Kadre is describing Egeanin, and he mentions the sword strapped to her back. Could Egeanin be the woman in Egwene's dream?

Well, there are some awesome quotes in WoT, ones that are good for ppl today to think about. Let's see a few. “Don’t let it eat you inside, boy,†Abell said softly. “Hate can grow till it burns everything else out of you.â€

  21. Where's the Angreal of the naked hairy woman that Egwene sees in the panarchs palace during CH 11 in TSR? The 11 BA escapees from Tear haven't mentioned it, and presumably Moghedian could have beaten Nynaeve if she had it, so who's got it? My next best quess was Lanfear, but if she found it when she went and saw the half melted Choden kal key, why did she need the one that Moraine set out for her at the docks? Was there some other forsaken associated with the Tanchio plotline that I've missed? Did RJ just forget that there was one there?

  23. Effectively 2 different questions. 1. What will happen with the Seanchan (and their massive forces ... 800,000 ? how many civilians then?) after Tarmon Gaidon? Will they continue to try to fight or ... ? 2. In a straight up fight, could Randland defend itself from the Seanchan (who seem to have numerical, channeling, and military superiority) invasion? (This assumes that Randland doesn't need to worry about the Shadow and is focusing on the Seanchan) Oh yea... Hi everyone. :)

I have just recently purchased the FULL WoT on audio book (geeze that was expensive) But it has come to me that I want the cover art for my itunes - only thing is all that text and stuff really messes up the picture and looks crowded. After scouring the internet I have managed to find Sweet's original (no text) art for all but two of the books. If anyone knows anything about Crossroads of Twilight and Knife of Dreams I know be very grateful. Thanks in advance. Fraser

  25. I have been reading the boards quite a bit and it got me thinking about the Black Ajah and their dark oaths. When do they take them? I am assuming if a darkfriend accepted is raised, she still takes the normal 3 oaths then rushes to one of her other meetings, has the 3 oaths removed and takes new ones. Or if an Aes Sedai becomes black later, they remove the 3 oaths at that time and she takes the dark oaths (or whatever we are calling them). Why is this important? I have seen many people defend sisters from being black because they took the 3 oaths. But we could have seen each and every sister take the 3 oaths in the books, only to be missing when they ran to…

  26. I read in a post somewhere that the men in randland have spent the past 3000 years sinking lower and lower in society because of the taint on saidin. Male Aes Sedai broke the world. Male channelers over the past 3000 years could not be trusted. The world has gotten used to the idea that they were a wild beast that had to be dealt with severely. The Aiel men head for the blight. Sea Folk toss their male channelers overboard? Seanchan dispose of theirs. Shara doesn't like them, either. The Reds have been gentling any they could find. Now that saidin is clean, will these practices continue? ???

Halima is Arangar? I am currently reading CoT and just finished the chapter where egwene awakens to find that an Aes Sedai and her warder were killed with Saidin. Now earlier in the same chapter (I believe it was the same chapter) Egwene got a headache right as Halima was leaving. I know i should probably have put this together before but it seems to me that halima is using saidin on her. It then dawned on me that she is the only one to heal her headaches.. this explains a few things. The escape of mogheiden(sp?) by a woman using saidin Halima causing/healing the headaches without egwene knowing (i.e women can't feel saidin channeled) The death of an Aes Sedai…

A good while back, there was a discussion on the forces of the light and the shadow matched up and, in one of the best posts I've ever seen, Luckers summed up both sides. I thought it might be worth another look for everyone here. It's looking like the major generals in play will be Mat, Inturalde, Bryne, Galgan and probably some of the Aiel Clan Chiefs. I exclude Bashere because increasingly its looking like he is going to die. Perhaps Algemar will play a key part too. ARMED FORCES Borderlanders - Including forces left in the Borderlands i'd guess 250,000. Merillile estimated the army in Andor to have 200,000 and we know they left a significant …

I know...I know... This is the serious side of DM. Please forgive me. This is necessary and for your own good or I wouldn't do it (sound familiar?). Yes, I would lie to you. But not in a malicious way. It's part of me that creeps out from time to time. I have some control sometimes. Sometimes I just can't help it. What I do is not really telling a lie. It's more like bending the truth to suit my desires. And, usually I either desire comedy/humor or deeper thought. If I can take a serious situation and add a little lightness, I might help people enjoy their discussion more. Some people don't appreciate my humor and get mad at me but that's a chance…

Just another quick fanart-related question for you... Do the maidens carve dragons into Rand's Seanchan spear before or after he goes to Cairhien in FoH? I couldn't find it before, but I may have missed it. I also checked the Encyclopedia WoT entry on the spear, but it doesn't say when it was carved. Does anyone know?
