So I just finished A Crown of Swords for the first time. Great book, but wtf is with the ending? Like all the endings for most of the WoT books, the book is all plot development, plot development, plot development, plot development, OMG CLIMACTIC BATTLE, epilogue. The endings always just come out of nowhere, like everyone is like, mmk well I just woke up, what should I do? Oh, I know! Let's go kill one of the Forsaken! >_< Anyone else noticing this, or am I just about to get flamed mercilessly? Oh, and please, no spoilers for later books. I just finished ACoS and am about to start the next one.

  4. Has anyone else considered this possibility? Somehow to me she seems a little too compliant with Elayne, a bit too eager to get close to her and gain her trust. In other words concerning Elayne's cause Dyelin seems a little too good to be true. Seems as though the Shadow could be using her to get close to Elayne in a similar way that it used Aran'gar/Halima to get close to Egwene. Moreover, I have noticed a trend in WOT where whenever a potentally good character is going to turn out to be trouble he/she is initally disliked by one of the major good characters: Rand didn't like Taim Rand didn't like Dashiva Perrin didn't like Aram when they met is EotW Moiraine …

Rereading TGH i got to the part where they find Nidao and Changu skinned alive. But Rand enters a place and its almost like a repetitive dream. Paper back 184 is where it starts. I think he was shielded at one point from the lady Uno sees in the windows... Whom i think we learn later was Lanfear. Not sure on that though. But what happened in that farm, was it a trick with the power? A bubble of evil? Or something else completely? Also was he shielded? It says "

If a Channeler tried to weave a Shield on a non-channeler(thinking he was a Channeler), what would happen? Would the Channeler realize the target's inability to channel? If so, what's the point of complex tests?

OK, so we get a reference to the Ring of Tamyrlin in the Prologue to EotW - Ishy says LTT wore the Ring of Tamyrlin: Commentary on the Ring of Tamyrlin states that it was worn by the first person who channeled - possibly it was the first angreal/sa'angreal/ter'angreal. Do we know anything else about it? Is it ever mentioned again in the text of the 11 published books? Has RJ said anything else about it? Do we ever get a description of what it looks like? Thanks all! Dave

Well, for a long time we've been wondering who Demandred's secret identity is. I began to think about the person I'd least suspect and .... Sorry I just can't do this with a strait face anymore. For those of you who are wondering, No I am NOT serious. This has all be an elaborate excuse to use the term "Dyelindred." I mean doesn't that word have a nice ring to it, "Dyelindred?" But hey, made ya look!!!

Im here with a small problem. Was sitting around, doing nothing, going over my wot library, ect, ect, and a little thing popped out at me. for those who hate bringing up the little details, im sorry. Most of the stuff im refering to is tSR nd tDR if anyone wants to double check on it. In the chapter before Moirane attempts to attack belal in tDR she asks loial what he knows about him. He talks about the netweaver, his jealousy of Lews Therin, ect, AND how belal helped raze the hall of servants. in tSR in the ter'angeal of the past he sees, in the hall of servants, AFTER the sealing of the bore and the forsaken, the women aes sedai talking... ect ect. I've been thinking over the last few days that there are probably more shadowspawn than we have seen. like in EotW, Moraine says there is a pack of worms on their trail. I'm curious what these worms are but also what other types of shadowspawn we haven't seen before. And i can't help but think those things will problably be in the last batlle with the trollocs and myrddraal.

  13. I'm curious, just how will the maidens react when Rand finally shows up in Carhien to speak to them again? Last time he was there a bunch of em died, but then he's not exactly let them come find him since. Which means he's impinging (spelling?) on their honour. Last time they beat the tar out of him and threatened him with switches.

  14. I don't know where this came from, but a thought occurred to me: I think in one place it was said that the Aes Sedai had to waive their hands, or some sort of gesture, even though it wasn't really linked to the Power (something was said that you could figure out who had taught whom by the way they wave their hands). Given that, wouldn't it be slightly easier to keep an Aes Sedai from channeling by breaking her arms and wrists? I know, easier said than done, but could it be?

  16. I know I have some which remind me of WoT... What have you done - Within Temptation--> This one sounds to me like an (almost)perfect duet between Rand and Lanfear 8) Frozen - Within Temptation (note: They have two songs called Frozen, the one I mean is the slow one :D ) This one reminds me so much of scene when Faile is taken Gai'Shan by the Shaido. (when she has to run trough the snow). Through her eyes - Dream Theater --> when Rand tries to revive that little girl in the Stone of Tear. What's your opinion????

Over the past 13 years that I've been reading WOT I have always pictured the Borderlanders as Asian. From what I've gathered talking to other WOT fans I am not alone in my conclusion the most Borderlanders are Asians. Interestingly, however, my metal image of Lan has always been as a white guy. For many years I thought nothing of this, but recently it occured to me that Lan is a Borderlander and thus it only makes sense that he should be Asian as well. Just a few random thoughts I thought I'd share.

Just wondering what everyone's take is on the Tolkien book that is going to be released next month. Children of Hurin was never completed by Tolkien himself. Tolkien's son put the notes together and used them to finish the book. The book is scheduled to be released on April 17th.

Three Days Grace made a song titled Animal I Have become, and each time i hear it i wonder to my self, "Does it apply more to Rand? to Perrin? Or some character who i can't think of? Here's a link to the video/song I don't know if it will work but it has a cool head bobbing cat :),if not then just Ninja it (www.ninja.com) and find it... http://odeo.com/audio/1907500/view

Reputedly Javindhra is Elaida's pet. A sitter of the Red, and supposedly one of her staunchest supporters. Certainly she makes the appropriate gestures... forcing Tsutama to command her into not revealing the plan to bond Asha'man, and yet twice during the scene in Kod she displays pleasure at Elaida's misfortune... one, she sounds satisfied when saying that Dumai's Wells and the events at the Black Tower will come out, and she smiles when Tsutama commands her reguarding Elaida, though she tries to hide it. So what is she up to. Here we have one of Elaida's only remaining followers displaying pleasure at her inevitable downfall. It strikes me that its possible that Ja…

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but there seems to be a lot of foreshadowing in EotW and the other early books. In EotW's prologue Mat, Rand and, Perrin are working (a.k.a. sitting around) with some friends in the Two Rivers and there's a lot of foreshadowing in it. Rand says "I'd like to be a king." (pg. XXV) and later becomes king of Illian. Mat says " I'll recue an Aes Sedai and she'll reward me." (pg.XXV) and he's going to rescue Moiraine in aMoL. Then, later in EotW, Rand has a dream about Ba'alzamon where Ishy comes up behind Rand while he's looking in a mirror and Rand watches their faces merge until his face beomes Ba'alzamon's. Is it just me or d…

I've been wondering this for a while, and maybe one of you can figure this out: okay, in the Eye of the World, Nynaeve is the first one to bring up his golden eyes, but Egwene had been with him the longest. When, exactly, did they change, and why didn't she bring it up? She was the Wisdom's apprentice, after all.

ok since in the three oaths the Aes Sedai take it says that they can only kill someone with the OP if they are about to die or if their target is a blackfriend. If some Aes Sedai tried to attack everyone in the White Tower wouldn't they kill everyone of the Black Ajah?

RJ defines wilders as people who begin to channel without outside help. so by that definition sholdn't Moiraine be a wilder? Because she first started channeling in the sun palace before going the the Tower. On a simaliar note what about Liandrin? Who taught herself compusion also before going to the Tower. What are your thoughts?

One thing I find interesting. RJ has portrayed it as being one of the most stable and expansive empires of humans in Randland (Well except for the very recent instability, which can hardly be used as an example since all of Randland is highly instable there is not one nation that can claim to be unnaffected by chaos and war at the moment). What we do know is that before the Seanchan started chaining their women who can channel it was highly instable with constant wars. Women who could channel plotted and manipulated against other women who could channel, sometimes alone, sometimes forming groups, etc.. However with the chaining and subordination of th…
