  1. :? If the flow of time is set moving only forward then how is it possible for balefire to erase someone or something further and further back in time depending on the amount of power used to create the balefire? If time is only capable of moving one way, which has been stressed to me often because of my Olver theory, then it seems that it should not be possible for even balefire to erase some one as it does. Yeah I know threads of a pattern. But with tapestry, I have a feeling if you try to burn one thread all the others are going to go with it. Any Ideas? :D

The following paragraph is at the end of chapter 34 in ACoS: Is the mention of the Horn here important, is this possible RJ telling us that the Horn is not where it should be?

I am new to the board so forgive if this is an old posting. Has anyone else thought about the title "A Memory of Light" being linked to the finn prophecy about Mat removing half the light from the world? Does that mean the final battle will cause all channeling to stop? (or at least half of it)

  4. Haven't fully read either of these books, I've usually just skipped around and read the Mat chapters. I like Perrin, but since he went nuts over Faile, he's not worth reading too much. Rand doesn't seem to have too much interaction in these books, so are any parts worth reading? I'm not a fan of Elayne's Andor whinings, that's taken up too much book space, so unless its actually required for plot advancement, any chapters of hers worth reading? Egwene's are even longer and more boring than Elayne's, so is there a chapter worthwhile? Nyneave, I could probably just skip her totally, unless required. Elaida/non main character Aes Sedai, Seanchan, Aiel…

Not an actual radio button poll, because there's too many choices, but I'm curious as to where people stand right now. Who is your favorite Aes Sedai in the entire WoT universe? Who is your least favorite? I suppose this technically includes LTT and all the Forsaken. But not the Asha'man/Wise Ones/Windfinders.

Sorry if this has already been discussed but I'd picked up the series again (read most of the books numerous times as I usually start from the beginning when a new book comes out)and noticed one comment when Siuane and Leanne get stilled that said something to the effect of "stilling could no more be healed than a person's hand could be put back if it were cut off". I'm of the opinion that RJ doesn't just toss something like that out there for nothing and since we all know that stilling/gentling can be healed I wonder if that means at some point Rand's hand will be restored. As we recall, it was stated Semi could heal just about anything short of death and at one point …

  8. In Egwene's third trip through the rings during her test to be raised to accepted, she is the Amyrlin Seat, and while dealing with Rand and all, she is taken by the black ajah. She is described during this as seeing her self in the mirror with the characteristic agelessness of Aes Sedai, though she says that she never held the Oath Rod. Seeing as we know that the binding of the Oath's is what causes the typical agelessness, it stands to reason that the whole thing is just a figment made up from her own mind

I think it was Knife of Dreams when people kept experiencing a shimmer where their bodies seemed to pull apart and everything vibrated. I know it happend to Perrin and Company, and I think it happened to others. What was that? I have two theories, and would like to see more. Theory one: The Chodan Kal were streatched too far. Even Lanfear seemed shocked that the Keys were holding up for so long. We've seen this before with the Bowl of the Winds, and RJ confirmed the Bowl was never made to be used at that magnitude. The result then was the power was tricky to work with especially in the Ebu Dar area, I don't remember exact quotes, but I think weaves slippery s…

any idea or theories as to how Lanfear may break free of that crystal around Moridin's neck?

  11. Does it seem to anyone else, that there is an aweful lot of women being made to get naked, or at least down to their shifts, and getting either slippered, strapped or flat out whipped? This seems to happen an aweful lot in the White Tower, among the Aiel Wise Women, the Suldam with their Damane....basically in any camp where women can channel. What is up with the violent, and covert sexuality that pervades WOT? What is it about the Aes Sedai in the White Tower that seems to lean toward Female Domination as conceived in American pop culture? Am I the ONLY one who sees this?

Now, a few months ago two friends suggested WoT to me, saying that I should read the first 6 or so books, since it went downhill afterwards. I had heard of the series, so I borrowed the first 4 books from my friend. Well, today I finally finished The Shadow Rising, and I must ask: What's with all the hype? It was a decent read, but I don't understand how people can think it's an amazing series. I am told that these first 4 books were among the best of the series, so, is there something I am missing here? Let me explain my problems with the series: Writing: I enjoyed Robert Jordan's prose and lack of repition in his descriptions (Other than the skirt smoothing and …

Too many loose threads, Moraine needs to be rescued. The White tower needs to be whole. The Black Tower needs to be sorted into the good and the bad. There are three or four armys that could still join either side. The Shaido ? Are they done or do they still have a part to play in the big picture? Those are just what come to my imediate attention, I'm sure there are others that have occured to other people. It is just to soon!!

Is the thing that Cadsuane needs to teach Rand, and maybe all of the Ashamen, teaching them Laughter and Tears? Min said she will need to teach him something, she is trying to do that, so I guess it would make since. What will teach him laughter and tears? I'm thinking the birth of his children might do the trick - especially the tears part if something were to happen to either of them. So my question is two fold: 1. What is it that Min foresaw that Cadsuane will teach Rand, have we seen any hints as to what it might be? and 2. What will make Rand more human and laughing and crying? I tend to think that Moraine's rescue will help Rand stop making that …

Here are some Perrin Viewings, I don't have KoD in here so Crossroads is the latest you get. I'll do other character viewings another time, perrin was easier than say Matt or Rand. From Min: TEoTW - wolf, broken crown, trees flowering all around him. TDR - An Aiel in a cage, a Tinker with a sword, a female falcon and a female hawk on his shoulders, a darkness swirling around him. LOC - RAND and PERRIN: "When you two were together, I saw those fireflies and the darkness stronger than ever.... But with two of you in the same room, the fireflies were holding their own instead of being eaten faster than they can swarm, the way they do when you're alone. Twice he'…

This post assumes that you believe that Rand will survive the LB, fake his death, and go live with his women. The problem I have is this. Why would RJ let Elayne and Avhienda live full long channeler lives with Rand, but let Min die of old age 900 years before the other? It lacks the sense of balance and justice that RJ manages to fit into the rest of his writing, I think. I have never been able to square this in my mind, until a few minutes ago I had a thought. A thought, that prompted me to start this thread. What if Min dies a heroic death and is bound to the wheel? Maybe she already is? Wouldn't it swing the inequity in her favor if Elayne and Avhi get Rand…

  18. Hey sorry but i gotta put this, feel free to shoot it down or whatever , and i dunno if someones came up with this or not but heres my theory on who killed asmodean..i think it was Luc/Isam k here it goes, so in the 4th book Luc was hiding in the Tower of Genji cause Perrin was chasing him, which is Finnland right? so obviosuly he has some connection with the Finns if he can go there when he wants, and so maybe Luc and Isam somehow got melded together like that cause of something the Finn's did?, so when Lanfear got into Finnland throught the doorframe, she could have had one of her wishes to be to have asmodean killed because she wasnt there to watch over him teach…

You could read your $30 hardcover edition of book 12 and learn all there is to learn of the WOT, perhaps even put to rest the entire "who killed Asmo"!! or.... you could accept one million tax free dollars and never, NEVER EVER learn a darn thing about the WOT that you don't already know. I'm not talking, take the money and read the book ten years from now, or take the money and get online to get the plot spoilers. NO!! Nothing, nada, zip, zilch, NOTHING!! One million dollars and never able to satisfy your curiosity. Which would you choose?

A Refreshment of Balefire, go to second paragraph. We know that blaefire removes a thread from the pattern, the time its removed dependant on the power of the balefire. When used on items, whatever they did when they existed is undone from the period they were removed. When used of people, they are removed indefinatly and cannot be reincarnated by the Great Lord or the Wheel. So a Simple question. What if a weave of Balefire was used on a dead body strong enough to go back the period the body was still alive? Say at a moment one day before the person died normally, they were burned out. Did i say simple? I Lied! If true, then even if you died, anyone finding …

Where is everyone? it's been way too long since I read KoD, I don't remember much. I've been really anxious to see Rand, Perrin, and Matt get back together. Although, I'm not sure that will happen before the Last Battle. I would love to see everyone get together, have a beer, then bam! last battle time. Not sure it could happen, but if it does I would assume it would be in Andor during the birth of the Al'Thor babies. I remember Matt, Thom, Noal, and Olver are heading to save Morainne from the Tower of Genji (sp?) Where is that? off the Erinin river maybe? Where are Perrin, Tam, Faile, and company headed? I've been pondering for awhile on this. If someone were to make a wheel of time game, What/how/who/where/when would you like to see it at? How accurate to the story line should it be? Should it take place during the main story line? Or in the past/future? Ect... Also, a minor question. If a game were to be made about WoT, would the said game, assuming it sticks to the story line, have to contain nudity? Would not having it subtract from the closeness to the books? Or would having it, distract from it? *btw, there is a difference between, nudity, and glorified nudity.* Also, for those of you who don't know, There is a wheel of time Mod in the making for the game Ob…

Is he just a giant spirit, an invisible presence that is overpowerring. Will he take the appearence of a human avatar or monster avatar when he breaks free?

i had this crazy idea for a time, and i though maybe it was time for it to get shot down or what ever. it's that the propheses, the major one's like the kathlon(sp) cycle are actually histories of the previous third age, transcribed over and over, until they have lost much of there meaning, and become the prophesies they are today. and its possible that Loials book will be the next ones.

was rereading CoT and something about the AS struck me as odd. when alanna bonds rand (and all the other AS bond any of the asha'man) she can't use the warder bond to control him (them). however, when the asha'man bond their AS, they can compel them to obey, not try to escape, do nothing against the BT, etc. i haven't seen anything in the books to explain why this is. does anyone know (or have any guesses) why AS can't control the asha'man, but the asha'man can control the AS when bonded?
