Cell Phones. The people of rand land are so freaking dis organized it pisses me off. Sample calls: Rand rings up Tuon Rand: Hey Tuon are you planning on having a meeting with me soon? Tuon: No, it must be one of the forsaken, O btw mats here. Mat: Hey Rand! I am now the prince of ravens. So you can stop fightning the seachan now. Elayne + Morgase Morgase: Btw im not dead. Elayne: O, okay. Elayne + Perrin Elayne: You know some idiot is trying to start an uprising in the two rivers. Perrin: Thats me Elayne: Ok, NP a friend of Rand is a friend of mine. I mean really, why can't some channeler make afreaking instant messanging device. I…

I am going to get crucified for this, I just know it. I have recently returned to this site after an absence of something like two or three years. I'm liking the new design, and have been rereading the books recently, and figured I'd check out the old digs. So hello to everyone. Anyway, back when I was a young, naive member, I used to believe that there was really only one pertinent question to be asked on these forums: Who is the best fighter? I have browsed the list of topics, and to my shock and dismay, found that no current thread deals with this all-important dilemma. And so, I must bring the age-old query before this esteemed board once more. …

Okay, we know that the bore will have to be sealed before the 3rd age comes again, and I believe that RJ plans to seal the bore within the series, IE aMoL. So, if you believe as I do, then how does the bore get fixed so that 2nd agers don't drill a bore through a patch? RJ has said that he has known the endings of the books since the beggining, so I went back to the beggining to try and find some clues. At the end to the prolouge of TEotW, there are two writings from fourth age writers telling us events that occur during the time around the last battle. I will quote from the one I belive to be pertinent. Okay, it seems pretty obvious that the Prince of t…

Lets face it- there are countless, great great scenes in every single book in the WoT. I'd be interesting in hearing what some of your favorites are. Personally, I have soooo many myself- too many to count, but I was just thinking of one that I really liked and thought I'd start off with this one: Remember in The Great Hunt, where Rand was going to be meeting w/ the A.S. after Moiraine brought him to the White Tower? I really liked the part where Lan basically burst into Rand's room right before the meeting and, behind Moiraine's back, prepared Rand for the meeting, told him what to say, taught him how to salute as a Borderland Lord and basically gave him some of the …

What's up with Shara, the land beyond the Aiel waste? It's a complete mystery and seems like even Rand isn't getting involved. Is it going to end up a breading ground for Dark One Human armies? What kind of scale are we talking about here, is it like the undiscovered Americas in the 1400s? I think the only one in the books that know anything about it is Noal, but I feel like he'll be too busy helping our heros rescue Moiraine, so he's no help. Shara has always irritated me. It's in the books, so it must be significant, but did RJ just not get around to writting about it? Would he just mention it in passing in the last book? ....And then strange looking tattooed sold…

I am sorry if this has appeared on Drangomount before and I am just rehashing old news (sorry but I'm not going through all 112 pages of the Asmodean post to try and find it). However, if it hasn't then it is definitly worthy of discussion. Anyway the following is a excerpt from a chartroom discussion with Robert Jordan conducted in December of 2000 which is posted at CNN.com Question from Vercingetorix: Why do you think everyone has a hard time figuring out who killed Asmodean? Graendal killed him. Robert Jordan: I don't know why people have a hard time figuring that out. To me it seems intuitively obvious even to the most casual observer. The reason I won't t…

In book 7 or maybe 8 Egwene is at the fronzen lake meeting with the Andor nobels and is asked if she is tavene by a member of The Band of the Red hand (forgot his name and dont have book with me). Could she be or is it the pattern forceing events around her to help Rand in the Last Battle?

K, so there are 3 Ter'Angreal in Far Madding that emulate a Stedding right? I believe it was Cadsune that points out that she would love to study them, but it was impossible because she can't use the source in there. Well, she and Nynaeve both have their own "well" that lets them channel in there. Why don't they just use that to study the Ter'Angreals? Or do you think they also have a weave disrupter built in like Mat's Fox head medallion? I have been wondering that since I read the book that Rand went to Far Madding in, and thought I would ask.

GRRM's A Song of Ice and Fire series has been optioned by HBO for a dramatic TV series. They're planning to take each book and make a full 12 episodes (1 season) from it, so it'll be a multi-year show, like a Sopranos or some such. This is amazing news to me. Aside from being a huge fan of that series as well as WoT, I think this could set a precedent for future adaptations, maybe even for WoT one day. I really hope HBO does go through with this and that it pulls it off.

First, these scenes are among my favorites. Just wanted to say that. What I want to know is have we ever found out from RJ what are the three oaths the Black Ajah swears? Also, what are the popular theories? Obliviously one is that a black sister cannot reveal anything about the Black Ajah, or something like that. Also, is there a number (from RJ?) of how many Aes Sedai there are, how they are divided up into Ajahs, and how many are Black Ajah? Thanks.

I always thought it obvious they were, but was told recently there is not a chance they could be. What do you think... i mean, the way they mirror each others moods in CoT, Egwene just assumes its because they are pillow friends, which is possible i suppose, but it does put me in mind of Elayne and Birgitte. And this always seemed exactly the sort of thing Nicola would do... bonding a warder early.

This is something that's always kind of itched at the back of mind. Whenever an Aes Sedai makes lightning, RJ desribes it as coming down from a cloudless sky. But wouldn't they have to actually create a storm for the conditions for lightning to happen?, like use the weaves of air and water i guess it would be to make storm clouds thus creating the lightning? Anywho i can't quite figure it out so if anyone can clear that one up for me that would be super

I still think we need to wait a LONG time before you write. We still have a lot to do. When someone writes a story they are supposed to know just about everything about their world even if it isn't going to be in the story. Tolkien spent a good amount of his life working on the world of The Lord of the Rings. Robert Jordan knows just about everything about Randland and has extensive notes covering it. A few very minor things like climate, very minor history, and some astronomy is NOT going to cut it. We need to get VERY specific with everything. We need to get the specifics of ALL regions and all of the major-midsized cities (we don't need to worry about the villag…

Ok. You know how sometimes, to protect themselves from getting wet in the rain, aes sedai/asha'man will use that weave that makes a sort of force field around them?, well would that " force field " also protect hem from, say and arrow or the swing of a sword, any kind of blow at them besides anything with the Power? Anyone know anything about that?

What happened to Tam's heron-marked blade that Rand carried? I can't remember if it was destroyed or if it's still around in the story. I was reading a bit about Rand on Wikipedia and it got me to thinking it would be great to see Tam in action again, since we know he must be a swordmaster, and I'd like to see him get his hands back on his old blade. Who was Tam during the Aiel War? Why did he settle down, and what do we know about Kari (SP?? Rand's Birth Mother)? I'm hoping the forums will be enough to keep me from diving back into this world a third time around.

Just to make things clear at the start, Demandred is not Mazrim Taim. Mister Jordan has made that exceptionally clear. So, lets go with other theories, please. I believe he is with the Borderlander army currently working it's way through Andor. There are a few reasons for this. 1) Its a major power block without a known Forsaken and/or Darkfriend in it. We're pretty clear on who is (or was, until recently) with the others now. Seanchan - Anath Dorje, Tuon's truthspeaker, has been exposed as Semirhage. Aes Sedai (in the Tower) - Mesaana, and she's still there. Aes Sedai (the rebels)- Halima (Aran'gar/Balthamel), until Romanda FINALLY did something…

Guess you´re thinking: Wow one more who dunnit post that doesn’t add anything to what has already been said. :D I would anyways like to get your insight on mistakes I made while writing my arguments since I am clearly biased as to who did it. I´ve have more and more come to suspect Moiraine as the most intuitively obvious suspect mostly based on the following arguments. 1. Asmo knew that the other choosen and possibly the dark one knew about his alleged betrayal. 2. His last words you? No! Seem to indicate that first he was surprised to see the person in question and then he was surprised of the person’s murderous intent. Would he have been surprised of th…

I remember reading som interview with RJ where he state something along the lines of: Demandred has never posed as mazrim taim, but the remember just like aes sedai the most straight forward answer is usually the trickiest ones... Does anyone else quickly jump to the conclusion that he never POSED as taim since he IS taim, or is that pushing the statement a little to hard? Who do you think demandred poses as?

Am I correct in assuming that Darkhounds don't breed naturally? It seems likely, since: ~They can increase their numbers by eating wolves' souls ~They are nearly indestructible, thus have no need to replace themselves' ~There is apparently a known number of packs (though just how many is contested), so their overall numbers don't seem to fluctuate much Is this right?

For those who read all the books. The way it is seeming, the people's of Two River are getting more and more insistent on making Perrin their regent for Two Rivers to reawaken the dream of Manetheren. Treating Perrin like a prince, repeatedly raising the standard of Manetheren and the Wolf. Never once raising a standard of Andor. Elayne on the other hand has repeatedly stated that she is going to get rid of such allusions and not allow any rebellion. Even in Winters heart not excluding the option of using violence in a stray thought. For some province, where as we learn a royal tax collector hasn't been sighted in over a lifetime and only belongs to Andor in name.…

We know that both Nynaeve and Flinn have tried unsuccessfully to heal the wounds in Rand's side. RJ stresses men and women working together to achieve the greatest good. Would the two of them linked be able to heal Rand? Is that even possible?

I'ven't seen this anywhere (maybe I'ven't looked around enough) but I'll give it a shot anyway Mat and Perrin are both ta'vern (sp), we know, and are both very important to Rand and the Last Battle etc ect. What I was wondering is, are they of the same importance? I'll try to explain. In the fourth book, the Shadow Rising, Perrin manages to escape Rand's pull (that ta'vern (sp) pull) but it's not easy, he remarks it. In the Fires of Heaven, Mat keeps trying to get away from Rand, but always end up being drawn back to him. That's one point. The other point is the colors the three see in their heads when they think of one another. I think it is accepted that …
