Was it anyone else's headcannon that the official name of the True Power was siadoom? I couldn't have been the only one right?

So I'm reading the last few pages of TGS, and I can't get over how rand keeps saying that Calandor can't be used properly without him being at the will of a woman or something like that. Saying that the sword is "just another box". But where the hell did that come from? I remember Cadsuane telling him that the sword was flawed, because it didn't put any barrier between the user and the taint on siadin, whereas the choedan Karl would shield rand from touching the taint when he used it. I don't EVER remember anyone saying ANYTHING in relation to Calandor and a woman. Not to mention rand uses Calandor several times with no women involved, and the only flaw seemed to be invol…

Hello all, Couple interesting topics came to mind while reading some of the books. 1) What Ajah's do you think the Ashaman will have for the future? Just copy the Aes Sedai's Colour codes? 2) What new purpose do you think the Red Ajah will do? I personally believe that they will be a kind of Aes Sedai Police force for capturing rogue channelers for both Male and Female. I can see a type of Warder bonding for Male Ashaman "red" Ajah and Red Aes Sedai. A sort of tag team to capture Rogue Channelers. Agree to Disagree? Any thoughts?

Is there any list of such things? If not, let the compiling begin! If you know any instances of the books being mentioned or seen onscreen in any television shows, movies or songs, share them.

I have been reading some of the past discussions on Mazrim Taim and found that a lot of readers tend to think that Taim was a dark friend, right from the beginning. I personally would like to offer my thoughts, that Taim was not a darkfriend at all when he first appeared before Rand, and here are my reasons: 1. A darkfriend would not help Rand build an army of male channellers to further his power, whatever his reasons or the DO's. Unless the DO was truly stupid. 2. If Taim was a darkfriend right from the beginning, he would recruit only darkfriend channelers and solidify his BlackTower or recruit people who he could turn against Rand, instead of letting some…

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to ask this question or if it's already been asked. I searched the forums for it, but found nothing. I'm writing a piece of fanfic that I plan to adapt to a short film, and I'd like to remain true to the WoT laws of physics. If an AS ties off a weave and then dies (while the weave is tied off), does the tied off weave dissipate? Or does it stay around until another AS comes and unties it?

One thing that always got me is where did the shadowpsawn in book 4 come from. We know they can't use a gateway and it's unlikely they came that far down from the blight undetected. So I assume the ways or portal stones. We know there were at least two portal stones in the waste, but was never explained where the second one was. Problem with the ways is never heard there use to be a stedding around there. It just bothered me because both times they attacked Rand it happened fast, which means they weren't just lingering nearby or else scouts would of seen them waiting till nightfall. We know Asmo had a hand in it, but the how he got them there has always left me wond…

When Perrin first makes contact with Masema in PoD, they are still armed. What has changed from the time when Nynaeve visited the Prophet and everyone had to relinquish their weapons? Is he no longer worried about assassination?

I don't remember the name of the village that Ingtar and the party reach in TGH, but the scene where Rand walks into the home and finds the interrupted meal, he seems to get caught in a time loop. We know that Lanfear was following them, but has it ever been revealed as to what was happening? Was that a trap that Fain created, or was it something that Lanfear did to him? We know that Uno and his sharp eye spots her in a window but she traveled away either that village or another.

if RJ had come to you and said you could make 1 change to the series what would it be? For me I think instead of Semirage simply causing Chaos in Seanchan imagine if she did like Demandred did and took over. It would seem sort of fitting for a nation so use to fighting each other to see them face off at the last battle. Also would help counter the feeling I got that the Seanchan jut seemed too powerful and really would of showcased Mat' skills of trying to hold off shadowspawn/Sharran/Seanchan. Not to mention Egwene getting some revenge on the Seanchan by getting to fight some. A gate opening one side of the Aes Sedai army with Sharran's coming out then they loo…

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I often think: "Hey, that song fits me perfectly!" So, the premise of this thread is songs that best encapsulate a WoT character, like the Darth Vader theme. I'll start off with - much to everyone's surprise, I'm sure - Demandred. I chose the song "Be Prepared" sung by Jeremy Irons as Scar in The Lion King. Be Prepared - The Lion King A few of the lyrics really strike me: (Bold in particular)

If the True Power is the essence of the Dark One, does that mean that the One Power is the essence of the Creator? Does anyone else think that maybe this is why being able to channel grants longevity?

Mesaana. I know Sylvie is often thought as Lanfear, but Sylvie's behaviaur always seemed beyond Lanfear. She was more arrogant. I then thought it Graendal, as much as I would attribute everything female Graendal, she has her interest in the west. I can't believe a major theory wasn't she wasn't Mesaana. It's just her. Of course she wasn't introduced yet, but she could do it. And she ended up ruling the tower.

Im sure this topic has been posted before. It would be weird if it hadn't been. And I know there's even a SG where people choose an ajah for site purposes, but I assume that that has at least a little RP element to it. So all role playing aside, and ignoring which Ajah you liked the most from the books, if there were actually a White Tower (and assuming being in a different universe youd have the exact same personality, likes, dislikes, etc) , and of course assuming you could channel, what Ajah do you think you would actually choose? Of course I dont expect any real person so be as stereotypical and cut and dry as any of the Aes Sedai Jordan wrote, but still. This…

Was the Creator ever personified in the series? Rand was kind of his avatar at the end, but the DO had a lot more screen time through the series if mostly indirectly.

What is the explanation for the unusual behaviour of the power around Ebou Dar? I've read the books through twice and am sure there is an explanation, but currently listening to the audio books and think I might have missed the reveal. Unless my vague recollection is correct and it was Bowl of the Winds related?

Have any horse experts/lovers gone through the Wheel of Time to track horse descriptions and plot them to real life breeds? I'm very curious what Tairen breed horses would be... thoroughbreds would be my guess. Domani horses seem to also be good horses, and draft horses are mentioned by that name, I believe (Or, they were called Dhurrans) Razors are the only other breed name mentioned in WoT. And RJ clarified they're just like American Paints. I'm also curious about other horses, too... any and all knowledge welcome. Also, I believe Mandarb is a Fresian (in our RL terms), but I don't think it's ever described where he came from. I've always suspected him to be…

Let me start by saying that I’m going to try to convince you that Demandred ordered the attack. By focussing solely on Demandred, it will help keep this theory as short as is possible (which means to say, that it will be lonnngg anyway :P). To solve this puzzle, -and show you why Demandred is the culprit- we need to explain several issues that I’ll address in order of complexity. I’ll start with straightforward, simple explanations (under ‘Motive’ and ‘Means’), and I’ll finish with new, slightly more complex proof (under ‘Opportunity’ and ‘Verins subtle hint’) that I think solves all existing issues that I think other theories still struggle with. 1. Motive: 1.1. Wa…

Hello! I am trying to find a Wheel of Time set for my SO as a gift. She has a mixture of the books in almost all formats. BUT what she lacks is a display set! A matching set of all 14(+1) in either hard cover or trade paper. I have scoured amazon, chapters, etc to the best of my ability(limited though it is) so I thought the best place to go next would be here and the experts. Could anyone provide me a link or point me in the right direction... Any help appreciated!

Has anyone else noticed that although even though the Tower considered Elayne, Egwene, and Nynaeve to all be geniuses in things concerning the OP, Elayne seemed to be the least talented of the group? All three were remarkably strong and had different skills and weaknesses, but somehow she had the short end of the stick when it came to practical application. Nynaeve was the strongest, able to match Moghedien in raw strength and trying with a past Amrylin as the strongest woman to call herself Aes Sedai since the AoL, only had to be shown a weave once, and was unmatched as a Healer amongst female channelers. Egwene was an amazingly fast and dexterous weaver and was unma…

As some of you may remember in one of his many interviews before the release of AMoL Brandon Sanderson stated that he had found a way that a certain character could survive but Harriet put her foot down saying "This characters dies." Now that we know which characters did die I thought I'd create a thread for speculation on which character she was referring to. Any thoughts?

Sorry if this has been covered. I couldn't find anything on it. Was rands madness needed as a ta'veren in order for veins of gold to take place and all the good things that happen afterwards? The pattern is balance, and as Rand slides deeper into madness only bad things are happening for the most part. Is this almost like an investment in his ta'veren nature? Is the pattern "spending" all the bad things that occur due to him being ta'veren in order for him to have a store "return on investment" of good possibilities after his moment on Dragonmount? Mat and Perrin experience this to a lesser degree. Mat spends a significant amount of time being infected and almost…

Hey all!! I'm needing some assistance with a wedding ring. I'm getting married July 14th, and I had my plans for the rings fall through. So I want to make a 110% unique ring for her that is WoT themed. I wanna write on the inside "Shade of my Heart". I just want cool designs that would look good on a ring with sapphires. Thanks for the help!

Hi everyone, As we gear up for a major website upgrade (including improved forums!), I need to run some occasional tests and take the website down. I will generally try to do this in the evening, after 9 PM U.S. Pacific time, GMT -8 (the time used by the server). During this time the forums and most of the website will be inaccessible. No data will be lost. Everything is backed up on a regular basis. Thanks for your patience. If you have any urgent issues, please email help@dragonmount.com Thanks

Who do you guys think is the most badass character in the series? I would have to say Verin for myself. That woman was the epitome badassery in my own opinion.
