i don't really want to compare series. i just want a soapbox to preach about how lame the sword of truth is. it is so lame. when richard rahl isn't just pulling things out of his butt to save the day in some insanely coincedental plot of a henry steven keeler bent, then the story is just a graphic description of violence that is not nearly disturbing enough, or he is using his books as a platform to spread his insane, pre-new deal ideology. terry goodkind sucks.

Just a question I'm wondering about. At the end of EotW Rand hears a voice. It comes after he kills Aginor and saves the army at Tarwins Gap, but before he fights Ishamael. Do we know what voice it is? It's in ALL CAPS, like the DO's. Anyway I know you Wot Scholars will know all about it, so help me out.

Since she likes to teach so much how come nobody stresses this idea? I mean the Danelle and Tarna theories get most prominence because of mannerisms and look or clothes but when you read about Messana it goes on and on about her teaching. Surely being the Mistress of novices would be her ideal role? Beating Egwene would be right up her ally too. Explains how she knew about Elaida's private pennance thing too.

well, SH is unboubtedly not any ordinary myrdraal. people have gone so far as to call him the super fade. in truth, yes i agree that he is special. The real dark one may have have taken a personal hand in his making or imprinted a part of himself on the mydraal. It can be seen that no can channel when they are in his vicionity, and he is prolly skilied in the use of weapons. But i wonder, the gholam cannot be killed by any form of channeling at directly at it. Does the same apply to SH, or can someone just rip up the ground underneath him or unleash balefire upon from a distance?

Just an idea: if mat's medallion works against Saidar, will it work against Saidin, and does it work against balefire? If so i think it would be really cool if, and this is really random, he lent it to Rand for the last battle. This would make Rand virtually unstoppable! What do you guys think?

Ok, I am reading LOC right now again. I just read the part where he is in Salidar and Egwene has been raised to Amyrlin. They are having the celebrations, and Mat decides that he is going to show the Aes Sedai that they aren't ruffling his feathers by going out and dancing. After he dances with Halima, he decides to walk away because she is flaunting her/him self. As he is walking away Mat notices his medalion going cold, when he looks back all he sees is Halima who looks shocked. Now we know that Halima is one of the 'Gars and is able to channel Sadin. So, I conclude that Mat's medalion protects him from sadin being channeld as well. Here is the rub. Mat had …

I don't know if this topic has been discussed already but I've decided to take my chances. Has it ever occured to you that maybe the Creator is female? Since the TWoT is a world dominated by women, this seems to make sense, doesn't it?

Can any one tell me if the Aiel have a saying along the lines of "only the grave is my call"? I can't even remember if this saying is in the Wheel of Time series but it seems like it would belong to the Aiel.

I akways wondered why the entire known world (excepting Shara) only speaks one language. There are many accents and mixings of old tongue, but essentially the people all speak the same language. There are no real significant variations, not even like a diffrentiation of a mild nature like say for us....Portugese and Catalan Spanish...Or even Italian and Spanish. They're all Latin root languages but different enough to require translation. There's next to none of that in The Wheel of Time. Is there an explanation of this someowhere like in the White Book? I've never read it, just seen excerpts. I'm pretty certain certain places in Seanchan speak different lang…

What will it be? Technological? Rand's schools, Aludra's cannons, Kin Tovere's stuff, steam engines, electric etc Mythological? Wolves speaking to men, Sniffers, Min's visions etc Another AoL? More one power users found now, men and women together again in the power, talents rediscovered... A weird blend or none of the above?

In the books through the series RJ often puts little token out that summarize up to a big picture. I am only thinking loud now: In LoC RJ writes on page 305 that Mazrim Taim calls the Aiel "so called Aiel". And also in "The crown of swords" Alviarin states that Ishamel killed her predecessor. We also know that Ishamel was not really trapped from various statements. Now summing that all up, I wonder if the 13 forsaken LTT trapped with the sealing of the bore were not really all Chosen ones!? What if Ishamel was completly free?

Ok, a question here: If Osan'gar created the trollocs and the mirrdrahal (Sp?), who made the grey men? Also, he Ogier are not human but they are not evil. Who made them? Was it the same Creator as made men?

Since Shaidar Haran's arrival, and Ishamael's reincarnation as Moridin and subsequent naming of Nae'Blis the two of them have been reining in the rest of the Forsaken to unite them for the Final Battle. When Aran'gar and Osan'gar are reincarnated in LoC, they are placed under Shaidar Haran's control. Cyndane and Moghedien are placed under a mindtrap which Moridin controls. Mesaana was 'violated' by SH and forced to obey in CoT. Semirhage is forced to obey SH in LoC, and Graendal is forced to obey Moridin and SH in tPoD. This leaves just Demandred who hasn't been placed under Moridin/SH's control. All the Forsaken are prideful, and while they will not outright go a…

I'm might be reaching but when Moraine was tested to achieve the shawl, she had the list of new-borns hidden (in a box?) on her that time. She was worried that someone would thumb through her clothes and find the list, thus her plans to find the Dragon Reborn. Did anyone get the feeling that Verin either peaked and knows, or perhaps already knew something was up involving the search? Afterall, Verin is the one who handed Moraines's clothes back to her after the test was completed. Send me to the thread name if this has already been discussed thoroughly.

howdy, im sorta new here because its been about a year or two since i last visited and i sure did miss these forums... Anyway, i have two thoughts concerning AMoL. One concerning Mat and the other Rand, although im not so sure the one with Rand will happen at all. So, we all know that Mat is supposed to "sacrifice half the light of the world" to save the other half, and alot of people have been going on about how since he thinks the Eelfinn can see through "his" eyes, he is going to get rid of one. I am absolutely certain that that is a load manure. The Eelfinn like to bargain, they always negotiate a price with the wishes they grant and if no price is set by the…

I dont know if this has been discused before but its just something i was wondering. when Moiraine pushes Lanfear through the ter'angreal doorway in TFOH Lan says we know from KOD(i think!?) that Moiraine isn't dead as Thom is on his way to rescue her (cant remember exactally how tis phrased sorry, i dont have the book infront of me.),though we think she is on first reading the series. So, did she release Lan's bond as she fell through the doorway or did falling through the doorway cut the bond they had? Because we know a warders bond can be passed on to others, as Myrelle (i think?!?) will have to pass Lan's bond onto Nyneave eventually, while the a…

Does anybody have a favourite Chapter/ Scene/Event? I have two and im struggeling to decide between them. But if i had to choose I'd say that when Nyneave heals Logain, Suian and Leane has to be my favourite moment in the wheel of time. Its partially because Nyneave proves all the aes sedai wrong with thier whole "stilling can't be healed, girl" and brings them down a notch and shocks them. partially that she's discoverd how to do something that (i think) even they couldnt do in the Age of Legends. and partially that you get to see how much channeling actually means to suian and leane and how grateful they are to be healed. My other favourite moment is wh…

So what will be the worlds (Andors mostly) response to Morgase being alive. High seats don't like her, and now her daugther is queen. Awkward. Luckily, she has forsaken the throne, and given it to her daughter but until word gets out problems could arise. Also, Gawyn will FINALLY realize that Rand didn't murder Morgase, and hopefully join with Gareth's army. (Totally beside the point but I see a Siuan-Gareth, and Egwene-Gawyn double marriage coming) Lastly, what will Morgase do now that she's no longer employed as queen?

If Trollocs and Mydraal can't go through gateways then how did Semirage send Trollocs to save rand in the Stone? Sammael's trollocs hid in the barges by the Stones docks so he had time to send them there but Semirage's were sent instantly when Sammael's were attacking. Where did Rahvin suddenly find Trollocs from in Caemlyn? Sorry if this has been discussed before (newbie)

1. The Rand Must Die To Live Thing my opinion on this is not that rand must die but that LTT must die to allow rand to live... their souls must be separated in someway during the last battle allowing rand to survive... Rand dying is to obvious!! also the idea that maybe Rand and Moridin switch bodies seems kinda lame to me... just my thought 2. Taim, Logain and The Black Tower an interesting point. I think it is inherently obvious that Taim is either a new dreadlord or a supreme darkfriend so from this and the glory presented to Logain by Min my opinion is a climatic battle of good vs evil Asha'man in which Logain triumphs to pronounce himself the M'Hael... i …

From the very first book of the series i read, i couldn't help noticing the similarities between The Wheel of Time and LOTR. I'm in no way saying its a bad thing, i'm a RJ fan myself cos i find this series so much more detailed than LOTR and the characters so real. However, from the top of my head i have a few similarities. Emond's field - Hobbiton (and the rural/farmer lifestyle which the main chars start of as) Green men- Ents (pretty much the same to me) Mountains of Dhoom- Mount Doom (hm...) Trollocs - Uruk'hai Thom Merrilin- Gandalf Shadow vs Light [well what else could it be in a fantasy novel] Is it true that most authors today in the f…
