I know I have seen it before, but I don't remember seeing any answers that I liked. How did Moiraine recognize Sammael and Be'lal? And no I don't believe her to be a darkfriend.

This has probably been stated many times but I really need to get it off my chest. Rand is similer to Tyr, losing a hand and God of war buisiness. Perrin is Thor , Hammer and Perrins belt, Always wears it kinda like Thors belt of might. Mat and Odin, spear , hanging on the tree of wisdom by his spear. Mat in the first book also resembles Lokis descending to evil. Gjallahorn sounding the last battle and calling the heroes of Vallhalla to fight.

I looked for something about this in the forums but I couldn't find it so here it goes. What about the land of Shara? RJ doesn't seem like the kind of guy to make a land with no purpose but with only one book left it can't be fully explored. What kind of role, if any, do you think it will have?

I was wondering what people's thoughts were on this. If Aes Sedai are bound by that three oaths not to use the One Power as a weapon, how is it possible that Aes Sedai that have been leased and made damane can use the One Power as a weapon? Does the adam negate the three oaths?

Without doubt, this is by far the worst book in the series, my opinion. It also has been giving abysmal reviews by many reviewers, for various reasons. But can anybody find anything "good" in this book? The Bad: Every Elayne chapter was atrocious and boring. Endless and pointless description which gave me migraines. Too much blabbing when it comes to internal thoughts and dialogue. Too much pointless description. Perrin's chapters went nowhere. Rand had virtually no screen time. The list goes on and on. The Good: I can actually find some good parts to this book, though they are few and far between. 1.) The best chapter, in my opinion…

I was just re-reading The Shadow Rising and I came to the part where Mat goes into the doorframe ter-angreal and the answers to one of his questions was that part of his fate "To die and live again, and live once more a part of what was!". I was just wondering what this meant for Mat?

I have an idea on this but I don't see how the necessary circumstances could happen. From the beginning when Rand ordered Taim to train men to channel, he also ordered the men to be trained with the sword. Several times since, the books have mentioned the fact that Taim's men disdain sword training. I wonder if an artificial stedding like environment could be created at the grounds of the BT, like Far Madding. Then Rand's men would commence to run through Taim's men with the sword. Now I haven't thought this over too much so I know it may be full of holes. So please...be gentle.

First of all, Hello Everyone. I was checking out the forums and can't find where this might have already been posted so if you have a link, please share. I've read the series a couple of times then moved onto to other books. I find that there are a lot of similarities between the World of Dreams mentioned by RJ and what is described in other reading on totally different subjects such as "the Teachings of Don Juan". Things like: - You take control of the dream and guide it. - You can be hurt or serious things can happen in the dream state. - There are those that monitor this domain. - You can explore places you have never been. - You can meet people i…

I accidentally posted this in the other general forum, I realize that it's probably more relevant here. Here's the repost: Okay, this little piece of simple physics hit me like a brick wall the other day. Consider the fact that RJ is very good with obeying physical laws and general rules of common sense in his universe. In his web blogs, RJ has also specifically stated that, opening gateways across stellar distances is possible (if far beyond the knowledge of our 3rd age heroes). So my question for everyone to discuss is this: What would happen if you open a gateway into space? As far as we've been told about gateways, they're literally holes in the air w…

Has anyone else ever thought of Sheriam as a darkfriend? I was jsut rereading the series and a couple things have made me think it possible. The one that stood out the most was when Egwene and Nynaeve are in the novice quarters and a gray man tries to kill them but fails and Nynaeve stops it only to find it later with a knife in its chest and Sheriam close by. Also whenever Nynaeve asked about it Sheriam never wondered about the knife or what it was doing there.

Well, I was just wondering about this. Rand, Elayne and Avienda can all channel which means they have a lot longer lifespan that people who can't. So does Min get any kind of extended life, or does she just get the short end of the stick?

I started thinking about it when the thread about one of the Aes Sedais came up, then I just read the Noal thread - who do you think is a darkfriend in Mat's camp. It seems very, very unlikely that there is no one - well it might be Mat's luck but the DO is been looking for him so sure some one will be attached to him. Any ideas? I don't have my books here - maybe some one can put a list of the party together?

New to these boards so sorry if this has been discussed somewhere else. Has anybody thought that the eye is symbolisim for Mat giving up his visions of Rand and Perin. Imaginge the value that would be to the Snake and Fox's.

This was probably the most enjoyable WOT book I've read in a while. None of the other recent books kept me as interested as this one did. I was really pissed that Egwene got captured by the WT, but her chapters were some of the best. I like the way she's got her own little insurrection going on in the tower, and there's little Elaida can do but throw her in a cell to prolong the inevitable - but she doesnt do it. Is Elaida really stupid? Will Elaida be killed, or somehow deposed by sisters within the tower? Will Egwene somehow find a remedy to combat her tea problem, and regain her channeling abilities? Why did the Aiel take Aviendha and leave Elayne to fi…

I thought I read somewhere that RJ said that Taim is NOT Demandred....or has he said anything about Moridin not being Ishy? Did RJ say that or not? I can't find the source anymore and it makes something I noticed in KoD interesting and confusing too. Thanks

Now that the male half of the source (Saidin) is clean what will the red ajah's function be now that men who can channel no longer go insane and do vastly destructive things ? I think that several factors come into play here. There is no longer any need for their services as there are no longer any dangerous wielders of the one power. They also have been bonding themselves to these men, so that certainly skews their view. They will have a desparate need to fill a power void in the tower. Once the other Ajahs begin to perceive them as useless they will lose a masive amount of credibility and respect. They can't live with that. Here is my idea. Tell me what you think.…

I was just wondering, in the end of the Eye of The World, when Rand is being chased by Aginor, he notices a glowing cord coming from Aginor, and when he does, part of the cord breaks off to join him, and i could never understand this. i mean its obvious that this is saidin, but i dont understand how he can see it when it isnt being woven, and why only then. I always just thought that this is like how Aes Sedia see other Aes Sedia glow when they're channeling, but the cord is never mentioned when Login or any of the other Asha'man channel in front of Rand. Could it have to do with the fact that theyre using the Eye of The World?

I think a memory of light refers to the fact that Rand has actually forgotten what it means to be of the light, as have, i suspect, many others--including the Aes Sedai, the Seanchan and many other lesser groups. Of course it may also mean that by the time its done nothing but a memory of the light remains, or something else completely. What did Knife of Dreams mean? I personally think it had to do with the growing unstability of reality in Randland, and the danger inherent to that. I mean people pulled into misty ancient cities and lost, people dying of having their insides turn to bugs.... and all the other bendiness of reality. Any other ideas?

I really wanted to start a thread about the character’s names, because I keep finding echoes of characters from other books or biblical references or random words that sound like the characters names and are really funny. This is a list of all the ones I could find. Failte is Scottish for welcome I think there’s a place in Scotland called Callandor, or something that sounds a lot like it There’s a devil somewhere in the bible called Sammael If you look at that random list of letters that makes up website addresses when you’re a few pages in, then the word Rand sometimes turns up. The editor for Red eagle comics (the people who made new spring) is called La…

okay, the whorling colors in mat, perrin and rand's heads when they think of each other. my theory is that during the last battle the three will be connected telepathically in order to fight more efficiently. also, rand is LTT recycled, and mat is one of Atur hawking's generals recycled. who the hell is perrin? he is tavern ofcourse but who? is he mentioned? was LTT atur hawking and the other 2 his men? no, that's not possible, atur hawking was called with the horn. hwo the hell is perrin!

not sure if this has been mentioned but its something i noticed during my current re-read. i think it was the prologue of WH where RJ does a POV from Moridin when he is in the Tarasin Palace. He has a statue of a one-armed man with a clothe over his eyes. I didn.t recognize it my last time through but now that i have read KoD it obviously Rand which shows that what is going on now has happened every time b4. just something i though was interesting.

ok, here we have it. First the Jedi: a monolithic order dedicated to only tangetially interfering in the poltics of a universe in which they are supposed to be its defenders and servants. The Jedi are an ancient order with lots of creepy traditions, secret rules and ways of operating that piss people off. Then we have the Aes Sedai: A monolithic order dedicated to only tangetially interfering in the politics of a world in which they are by name supposed to be its servants. The Aes Sedai are a nancient order with lots of creepy traditions, secret rules nad ways of operating that piss people off. Indeed the only difference between these two groups is tha…

DONT READ IF NOT FINISHED KoD Ok so at the end of the book Rand bloody al'Thor gets his hand blown off by Semirhage. And then healed so he know has a stump. I was wondering if anyone else thought of balefire? What if he just got up and blasted her with balefire and got his hand back would that not be easier? Now since that time is passed im wondering will he get his hand back? I mean won't everything get complicated if he has no hand? I believe he will get his hand back some how I just can't think of how. Any ideas?

Ok this is a quote from RJ's blog this week: #For Tony W, the last book of the main story arc, A Memory of Light, won’t be the last Wheel of Time novel. True, I want to move on to the Infinity of Heaven books, not to mention some other books, but there are two more prequel novels to come, and maybe a set of three outrigger novels.# So we have been discussing what we will see in AMOL - lets discuss what we will not see because it will go into these. For a start I would say the Dragon's kids all of them :-) I don't think we will see any of them born - but jump a few years ahead and see how they as teenagers find out they can channel and maybe their dad wasn

I dont know if this has been discussed previously and if it has i am sorry but i had a thought. Does anyone else find shaing a husband gross? men would you really like two wives or in rands case three girlfriends. I mean its ok for the purposes of the book but i do still wonder about its necessity. i find that i dont gree with this the more i read about it. I mean i believing in spending your life with one person at one time not having to share them. But i also considered that sometimes love is strong enough to let someone be with one person but min elayne and aviendha are all so greedy and selfish that neither will reliquish there love for rand. do…
