I had one myself last night, it was somewhat awesome. It was pretty much a loose copy of the original flight from the Two Rivers. The firt part I remember was my farm being in ruins from an attack, it was night, a massive storm was in progress, Tam and I were sludging in the mud around the house, then me, my two buddies and Moiraine and Lan were on a wild flight (on our feet) up a narrow muddy track that took some time, chased by some nameless evil thing. Somewhere along the line (as is the fashion of dreams) Lan was giving me one of his valuable lessons that he does when he unbends. Anyhow, we came to Taren Ferry and bunked down for the night past it, everybody pitch…

So here i sit after having hit every bookstore in a 20 mile radius looking for KoD! I couldn't find it and now i'm stuck waiting for Fedex overnight to get me my book! So i thought i'd ask a few questions that have been bothering me for a while and hopefully get some answers? 1) Cadsuane mentions something that happened in the Black Hills that she was a part of. It seems to be important but i can't find any extra info about it anywhere. Any info out there? 2) Maybe this one is unknown to you all but it is bothering me, and has been for quite a while! What exactly was the eye of the world? From my understanding it was something tied in to Saidin. I think R…

  4. Debunking The “Two Servants Theory†Travis G. The original theory that I will be discussing, dissecting, and finally debunking (for the most part) can be found at the WOT Encyclopedia (http://www.encyclopaedia-wot.org/) under “Theories and Unanswered Questions.†While interesting and well thought out, there are blatant errors that all but those of us, who actually went back, double checked, and rehashed the actual text, would have found. Please, before you read this counter-argument, go back and analyze the original theory at the website posted above. It will make much more sense to you since I will be writing in direct relation to that document. It is…

This may have been disscussed before in fact I'm sure it has been unless everybody is just to busy wondering we killed Asmodean any I just got through reading my two faverite Chapters in Lord of Choas agian. Fire and Spirit and to Heal Again where Nyneave heals Suin and Leanna (my apoligies for any misspelling in the names I'm two lazy to get up and check them atm). Any way it sparked a thought that I've had form time two time and was wondering if anybody noticed the same thing. When Nyneave heals Logan...I don't ever remember anybody ever mentioning if Logan was weaker in the power now that hew as healed Like Suin and Leanna. I also remember the first chapter i…

I read a rumor online that Rand al'Thor is to die in book 12 MoL. Is there any truth in this? I read a report on tv where authors that write books kill of their popular characters so others can't bring them back or use them.... I am referring the author named J.K. Rowling....

this prophecy is slightly confusing to me but heres a theory Neavye*sp* has always complained about not being able to heal death I think after the last battle is won maybe she trys one last time and actually manages to bring Rand back this probably wont happen but its just a kind of krazy theory

*Rant and possible Spoiler warning* So I'm on a re-read of the series. All going well up until now. Flew through all the books - couldn't put them down. But now I've reached PoD. Six chapters - about 150 pages (excluding the prologue) - of nothing except the Seafolk, Kin and Bowl of Winds. Nothing there that couldn't have been done in 2 chapters (even the Moridin and Ghloam POV's). But now I've reached Chapter 7. A Perrin chapter. I know that this storyline goes on till KoD (FIVE BOOKS INCLUSIVE!!!) and its already driving me mad!!!!! Especially as its resolution on KoD is almost anticlimactic. Has anybody else had this trouble on a re-read?? Kn…

I just picked up a copy of New Spring last night and I was wondering when is a good time to read it. I know it's a prequel, but sometimes it's better to get to a certain point in a series before reading a prequel to it. I'm currently reading Lord of Chaos. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Will

  13. OK, I just put down book 7, having finished it for hte 3rd time, am about to start on 8 for the second, havent ever read past 9. My quistions are as follows: in book 7, near the end, a man pulls Rand from a collapsed floor in aridhol, that man, is it Lews Therin? also in book 7, did Sammael die in aridhol? (I am thinking not, but I have been wrong befor) previous quistions. :) from my best guess, Moraine is not dead, correct? (BTW, I do not remember anyhting from books 8 and 9, been a few years and I have to read twice to remember most stuff) Aran'gar and the other one, who are they?..this is one I have wondered over the last few years and still have…

  14. My theology prof came up with this theory. To tell the truth, I don't know if he was being serious, but I like it. Padan Fain becomes the new DO. He has the evil from both the DO and SL and can do some pretty wicked stuff. Ha! Wicked... The problem here is, how will the current DO be disposed of and how will PF be imprisoned.

  15. ok the copyright in my tEotW says febuary 1990 for first edition. I am reading through book 8 right now. There are hints in book 1 and 2 and 3 and so on that are not answered until the later books, and some not until book 12. so obvioulsy books 1-12 where pre-planned before book 1 was published at least the basics, but for all this small minor details to be in, well took ALOT of work. unless RJ is going through the earlier books and finding things and applying them to later books, which I doubt. anyways, my quistion. when did RJ start plotting the books out, when did he start with the final plot-chart, I just want to see an idea of how long all this to…

I have question do the prophecies of the dragon say that rand nessecarily has to do at Tarmon Gaidon or that his blood must be spilt on the rocks of Shayol Guhl ( i seem to remember this last being said) because if he only has to spill "his" blood that does not mean he has to die. We already know from Lord of Chaos that Rand has a half brother through his mother (Galad) therefore couldn't this prophecy refer to Galad's blood being spilt rather than Rand's. If I am correct the prophecy states that the blood of the dragon reborn must be spilt on the rocks of shayol guhl. But the term blood can also refer to kin, so galad could be the one to die and not rand. its just th…

Noal is Asmodean. He can use his seemingly gnarled hands well. Asmo is skilled at illusion. He seemed to know about a gholam. (And a little afraid?) Noal claims to have gone beyond the Aiel waste, which, if he were Asmodean, he could have very easily done. I could be far off, but Noal has really been tugging at my brain while I have read through the last few books. Any help?

  18. WARNING: This thread is for discussion of the entire Eye Of The World book. If you have not finnished it, please be careful as there might be spoilers below. When I first started reading Eye Of The World a while back, I was confused (there are ALOT of characters and names) and wanted a place to discuss my questions and such. However, everywhere I went had either a breakdown of the entire book series, or timelines that (even though they said they were for EOTW) included information from other books (which I accidently read something and am pretty upset that I found it out). So, I would like to make this thread for people who have ONLY read Eye Of The World. Here yo…

  20. I tried to start a chart of all thw WOT characters, but soon gave up. There are just too many and they all seem to come back just as you think it is okay to forget about them. This presents a difficulty in that the books are a lot longer read, which i dont necessarily mind but find it annoying. Does anyone have a way to keep all the characters straight? If so post it on this topic or send it to okstate91@hotmail.com

This is my first post but I have been a long time lurker and I have been following the threads about AMoL with a lot of interest. One topic that I haven't seen is what is Rand going to do to end TG? I say end, not win or fight TG because that misses the point of the whole series, there has to be an end to make a new beginning. Just as the bore was the end of the AoL, some event must happen to mark the end of the current age. I will argue that it is not the cleansing of the taint, although it is significant, it doesn't address the existence of the DO which we know, has to be removed for the world-wide consciousness before the AoL can come around again. So the real que…

  23. I would have to say Aviendha is pretty cool... Nynaeve cracks me up, Rand is usually pouting about something (or pretending to) and then comes back and kicks butt, Mat is downright cool except for the whole "inner child" thing, Egwene is awesome, and Elayne is immature and self-centered. Sorry if I offended anybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah- Moiraine is too calculating! :D Love y'all.

I was reading in the General Discussion section about other authors and series and a comment caught my eye and started me thinking on how ages play such an integral part in the series. Sirayn wrote, "Charion Series by Lois McMaster Bujold. The writing style is fresh and interesting, the characters fully drawn, and thank Christ for one book in which the hero is over thirty years old!". This ties into, IMHO, the question of the too young Sitters in the Hall of the Tower and the rebel camp. Young people are the ones who rebel in an attempt to change society, and without change society would stagnate. Older people are much more apt to defend existing laws and customs, eve…

For anyone thats interested I recieved my prize for the KoD contest yesterday. Let me tell you that I was pretty happy. I recieved a leather bound copy of A New Spring, signed first editon lettered X52 out of 52 lettered copies. That is pretty darn exciting IMO. Can't think of a better prize except for a signed first edition letter copy of the first book. I'm not bragging or anything, I just figured that most of us tried the contest and thought I would let you all know what they gave as a prize.

I had a thought reading some posts, I have actually been thinking on this for a while - may have already come up if so, sorry. I was thinking that with all the sisters and ajah's secret weaves - like blaefire (known to moiraine and some others) or mirror of mists? (the thing moiraine uses in Baerlon?) was that 'forgotten'?. Any Way with all those 'secret' weaves. How much of the forgotten knowledge is actually completely forgotten. The only weave i can think of that we have seen no evidence of occuring is flying (if it even was possible in the AoL - no mention in the guide that i can remember). So the question stands if all AS share there weaves, how much will…

I am new to this board, so I'm sure this isn't the first time tis topic was brought up. I hope we finally get to see a Wheel of Time movie. That would be awesome. I've heard the rights have been optioned, by Red Eagle, startproduction on The Eye of the World. Personally, I'd like to see the film become a theatrical release, because a lot of freedom could be given for the special effects and the CGI. The only problem, is length. Let's assume it gets released to the theaters, I expect The Eye of the World to be a hard PG-13, for intense epic battle scenes. The Eye of the World is definitely not strong enough to be rated R. But some of the later books…

I've come to the conclution that most of the predictions made in the later part of this series (from about ACoS to present) will actually accur after the conclution of AMoL. Obviously the extent of Egwene's power will not be reached in the pinical of this series, and neither will Perrin's, Matt's or any other pivital character. Not to mention the fact that we cannot possibly see all of Aviendha's or Elayne's children in the last book. All of this and too much other stuff to bother listing, has led me to wonder how much of what we are expecting to see in AMoL will actually happen. I know RJ has already said that the ending will not be perfect, but I'm just hoping …

  30. Elaida stated that she attached herself to the royal line of Andor because of her viewing that the line will be prominent in the victory over the Dark One. Do you think that she attached herself to the wrong ruler? We know that Rand is Tigraine's son, which would have made him or makes him of the royal line of Andor. Possible? Chris Sorry about all the posts. Again, not sure if these have been brought up previously.
