What if you were to bring someone to the world of dreams, could they do anything and then take it back out. So like Rand's hand, couldn't he go to Tel'aran'rhiod, couldnt he just think his hand back, then step out with his hand back. Could cause much trouble, but also be a big help. Also if they could do this, what would happen if you came into the Tel and someone else like a Wise One was there, you grabbed them and took them through a gateway to the real world? Would it split their minds? Kill them?

Hey folks, two points of interest. Given the revelation of Moridin/Ish. as the "Third Man" with Rand and LTT, there is another potential explanation for Rand's recent eye problems... they are connected in some way... Moridin has the saa... could this be in some way linked to Rand's recently noticed eye problems in KoD? Second, while this theory (http://www.wotmania.com/theorypostdbtheory.asp?ID=716&Category=Archetype) probably takes things waaay too far, it is interesting to note that LTT begins to make his first appearance after Rand's first trip in T'A'R, and that after his lengthy and violent excursion there in TFoH, and the rather revealing incident w…

Hey there guys, I am starting to re-read through the Wheel of Time series (or at least tEotW right now), and was wondering if anyone else would be interested in reading through it in a "re-read" project of sorts. What inspired me was finding an OLD re-read of The Wheel of Time on another WoT forum, but it never made it past the first few chapters. Also, I was inspired by seing how they had done one for A Song of Ice and Fire's new book, A Feast for Crows, at http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php?showforum=15 If anyone would be interested, I would start over at the beginning of the book and go through it again from the start. Also, if anyone would be interested in…

Alright, everyone's thrown out their threads on who would play the characters in a movie. Where would the lands be set in reality, under the impression that the movie doesn't have to be in one country like LOTR? Sorry Zealanders. Shayol Ghul- Craters of the Moon National Monument, Idaho (with a computer Shayol Ghul) Spine of the World- Himalayas or Sierra Nevadas Caralain Grass- perhaps the Russian steppe the Aiel Waste- Great Basin Desert, Nevada Tar Valon would be completely computerized. Mayene- Everglades National Park, Florida the Blight- Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming..... near the steam vents. Blasted and sparsely tree l…

Ok so I am trying to get my younger sister to start reading WoT. She has just turned 16 and I think it is time for her to start reading WoT. So should I have her read NS and tell her it probably wont make to much sense until later on or should I have her start with tEotW and tell her she wont understand the prologue until part way through it? Thanks for you input.

<Spoiler Alert--do not read if you haven't finished book 4> Lately I have been thinking more about Siuan and her being deposed. It has really been bothering me seeing as how Siuan had already announced to the Hall that the Dragon had been reborn and an Aes Sedai was attached to him. Why exactly was she deposed? I could see how the Red would jump on any small excuse to do it, but how could Elaida convince anyone else to go along with it? What could Elaida possibly have said? Even if she knew and could prove everything (which she couldn't) about how Siuan had been secertly supporting Moiraine's search for and guidance of Rand, what happened that wo…

How's that going to work? Seriously, there's got to be some pretty weird plot twists. He's gone on record as wanting to get rid of them, but he's their royalty. Do you think this will affect his marriage? lol Plus, what service does Tuon think he's going to provide the Empire? J

Im rerereading the series and when Rand has captured Asmo and is forcing him to be his teacher he asks him : What are the chances of me winning TG? And Asmo says that without the TWO ter´angreal that allow acces to the Choeden Kal (or however ya fecking spell it)he has no chance whatsoever... We know that Matty boy is gonna get Moiraine out of Finnworld but since she went through the doorway doesnt she have the chance to have 3 things she wants? My guess is that one of those things is an acces ter´angreal (although i dont think this has to do with saving the world its just something on the sideline). But this theory has 2 faults : 1-Moiraine (as far a…

I started reading the WoT series in the summer of 1993. Some students from my school had chartered a bus to go to World Youth Day in Denver Co. As we left to return home I knew I had a 20 hour bus ride ahead of me so I went to a "Walden's" to find a book to read on the bus. We were in a hurry so I ended up picking EOtW at random. Best random choice I ever made.

"One the dragon for rememberance lost. Twice the dragon for the price he must pay." We all know that the prophecies demand the Dragon's blood. But what is the price? I think the price he must pay is the price for men's pride. Lews Therin's pride in the Age of Legends made him turn a blind eye to the female servants of all. The result was the breaking of the world. The Aes Sedai of the White Tower's ability to make thrones dance are the source of thier pride. Their pride has also left them woefully ignorant of a great many things. The Chosen's pride have caused the world pain. Just study their history and you can see it. And what of Rand Al'Thor. He has enough prid…

OK I am re-reading the books right now, and I am on book seven. I have been looking for hints about who Slayer *is* He has to be someone else kind of important right? I feel like I might have just forgotten who he is if it was said in the later books so it is a little embarassing to be asking this. So, my idea: He keeps being described as looking like Lan. I don't have the books with me to look this up, but there was a baby, like Lan's cousin or something who was assumed to be eaten by trollocs when his mother, the betraying former queen (?) of Malkier fled with him as Malkier fell. This baby WOULD be the age of Slayer, and would look a hell of a lot like Lan. Just…

I'm re-reading the series, and I seem to have read past this bit or something. I've looked through the EncyclopediaWOT, and I can't find a reference. Would someone be so kind as to give me a book & chapter reference for when Sheriam and Carlinya swear fealty to Egwene? Thanks very much.

I believe in losing his hand, Rand will not be able to preform the sword forms like he used to. Because of his now inability to fight with steel, he will have to concentrate on his channeling, thus making him a much more skilled channeler. In this, he discovers new things and ways to make himself a death dealer. Therefore preparing him for his greatest feat, to challenge the DO himself.

Ok, first ill premise this by saying that yes, i know, the books will never go to the Land of the Madmen--RJ said so, and there ain't enough time. Now, some things strike me as interesting about the rumours of the Land of the Madmen, as well as some of Ishamael's actions. THE LAND OF THE MADMEN 1. No ones actually been there. Look carefully at what is said about it in the Guide... The sea Folk say that both men and women channel and are insane and the like, but it also said that they do not go there. This to me has the sound of a social truth... i.e. at one stage the Sea Folk DID explore that place, and found those things and were forced to flee... likely quic…

In TSR (p279), Moiraine states that she and Thom will see one another again. We all now have ideas about how this is going to happen. My thought, is that she promises to tell Thom the names of the Red Ajah who gentled Owyn. Do you believe that this thread will be continued in the final book, and if so, will Thom take steps to take revenge against the unnamed Aes Sedai? Finally, will one of them be Elaida? Chris

Hello everyone, I'm having serious trouble reading WoT, and I was just curious if some of you have encountered the same issue as me, and, if yes, know of a way around it. Basically, the enormity of the series and the multitude of sub-plots make it very difficult for me to keep up with who's doing what, what they look like, etc. By the end of Book 11, we've been introduced to over a thousand secondary characters, often with no way of telling at the moment of introduction whether they will be important later on in the books. The Wise Ones and the Aes Sedai are particularly problematic in this regard - Robert Jordan has this unfortunate tendency of simply firing off …

A quote from NS, many characters say (or think) this... I just thought about it... something isn't right here. That the Creator bound the Dark One at the moment of creation - that's fine with me. But the Forsaken also? Did the Forsaken exist before the creation? How else could they be bound "at the moment of creation"? No, more likely it's the characters who have got it wrong - the DO was bound from the moment of creation, but the Forsaken were not Forsaken until after the Bore was made. They were sealed in when LTT and Co. patched the Bore - not in the creation. Maybe that's part of the sealing-problem. The DO's prison was never intended to hold more t…

I am not sure if this has been brought up or not. If so, I apologize. As far as we (or I) know, the Red Ajah's purpose is to catch any male channelers, bring them to WT (or skip this step), and gentle them. It's been their sole purpose since the breaking, since people in Randland afraid that the male channelers would go crazy and cause destruction. Now, Rand has pardoned all the male channeler. On top of that, he has cleansed Saidin. As far as the story goes (at least current interpertation), the Saidin is not tainted anymore, and male channeler will no longer go crazy. So, since male channeler won't cause problem anymore, at least those that are "tamed" b…
