Questions? (It's been a long time since I read EoTW so this might be a little sketchy.) From what I gathered when someone channels it comes from within them, flows through them, and performs their bidding. In Eye of the World when Rand battles his first forsaken (Can't remember his name Grrr.) he sees this pulsing line of energy from the forsakens body streching into the distance. It is the source and it is coming directly from an outside force. Rand reaches out and taps into this energy using it to defeat the forsaken. In The Shadow Rising when Rand Battels Asmodean their is a line emitting from Asmodean's body going into the distance that is his connection to …

I been catching snippets in these threads about Rand being in moridins body or some such...where the heck did that come from? and what sort of theory is it involved in? Could someone help me understand why people think this?

We know that saidar cannot affect the Foxhead, But what I want to know is can Saidin affect it? Or more importantly can the True source affect it? If not It could be A potent weapon against the DO. It may even be used to seal him up in the Bore again.

Warning: This theory is a LOT of speculation... 1) Sammy is reborn off camera... (Yeah, I know what RJ said: "toast", but like AS, what you think RJ means doesn't always jive with what we think he means). 2) Graendal/NewSammy hatch up a plan, a plan to take control of the Black Tower. 3) They find Taim, who has just escaped from WT, and toast him. NewSammy takes Taim's place. 4) She/they toast Asmo. 5) Taim/NewSammy arrives on the scene after Asmo's death, and eventually establishes himself in the BT. Not proof ...per se... but back-up material: 1) Graendal is the leading suspect in the Asmo murder. (refer to that thread for LOTS mo…

Rand's Similarities to: To Paul Atreides Rand al'Thor is similar to Paul Atreides in Frank Herbert's Dune in that they are both men who possess powers usually wielded by women. The Aiel, who become Rand's most loyal fighting force, are similar in habit and style to the Fremen of Dune. To Tiwaz, Tyr, Zeus, and Jupiter Over the course of the story, Rand has been shown to have many similarities to Tiwaz, the prototypical deity from which was developed Tyr, Zeus and Jupiter. Tyr's hand was bitten off by the wolf Fenrisulfr. Rand recently lost his left hand fighting the Forsaken Semirhage. Rand's love for three women (Elayne Trakand, the mother of his two chil…

The polls are all done, if you haven't voted in any of them you better do so quickly. On Sunday, April 9, the finals will begin. The tenth poll question is Who is your favorite foreigner? note: Loial isnt really a foreigner to Randland, but Ogier are seperate societies, and I havent been able to place him in a poll question yet, so I made this one specifically to put him in, and some more of the Aiel which have been under represented (Aviendha). Poll 1: Who is your favorite Forsaken Poll 2: Who is your favorite Military Leader Poll 3: Who is your favorite Aes Sedai Poll 4: Who is your favorite Land Ruler Poll 5: Who is your favorite Post…

Hello everyone! I've been a long-time reader of the forums here at Dragonmount, but a rather in-frequent poster. This is my first poll, so wish me luck. Has RJ ever been asked whether or not the Dragon's soul was spun out between Rand and LTT? This got me thinking what the average span between rebirths is and whether or not it is different for the Dragon. I've seen a few theories that the Dragon is tied to the Wheel the same as the Heroes of the Horn only much more strongly. This would explain the Heroes recognition of the Dragon at Falme. I have a feeling that either way it is a long time between rebirths. Some evidence is with the other ta'veren. Mat had at leas…

  10. I wonder about this... the Wheel turns, and what once was comes back again. Everything is set in the Pattern. That's the way it's always been. But Birgette was spun out of the Pattern prematurely, wasn't she? That seems to indicate that nothing is truly permanent. But the continued cycling of the Wheel of Time depends on the same general outcomes occurring. What happens if you "break the Wheel", so to speak? If you were to destroy the Dark One, wouldn't that break the cycle? Likewise, if the Dark One defeated Rand, wouldn't that break the cycle as well? It seems to me that the reason the Wheel continues to spin is because of an eternal stalemate, neither side ever win…

I thought of this while writing my "AoL is us" post. I see the 'Third Age', as it is called by some, is really the first age of the wheel. I see it this way. The AoL was the peak of human civilisation, this is like the final(seventh?) age. So throughout the turning of the wheel, civilisation grows (tech wise and society), then falls back again. I remember reading that the 'First' age, was a time of war, and we know the AoL was a time of peace (until the War of Shadow). I believe the technology they had in the AoL (see my post mentioned above), would have been like that of the 'First Age' so maybe we are the first age (contradicting my other post i know), i…

A lot has been made about red and black in this series from Moridin's colours on Moghedian and Cyndane to the colours in Taim's "palace". So what significance, if any, is there in the fact that the Deathwatch Guard's colours are red and a green so dark everyone describes it as black, and why are the Deathwatch so touchy about everyone confusing the green and black? Could they know something we don't?

It is the Question that made me seek out other WoT fans on the net. I have not had the chance as yet to follow a debate on this. I am not even proposing a suspect as I have been suspecting everyone from Laras in the kitchen to Elaida herself. Please, please.... this is the one question above all, that I really really would love to get closer to the answer before aMoL. Any theories??

You guys are getting a special 24-48 hour sneak peek (sneak listen?) at the -FIRST EVER- Wheel of Time podcast, hosted right here on DM. It's definitely a little rough around the edges still, but we're working on it. Jayson and Carrie worked very hard to get to this point, and will need a little time getting used to the format. But overall they did a great job. Please give it a listen and submit ideas. In a day or two I will post this all over DM, tell the other websites, tell RJ, etc. The show is weekly and will be available on our website and through iTunes. http://www.dragonmount.com/Podcast/ BTW -- please leave feedback at the link above, or in th…

The are about 100,000 Aiel fighters in each clan. So, a conservative estimate is 500,000 Aiel fighters. Each of those warriors has 4 spears, that's 2,000,000 spears. Now my question is, where did the Aiel get all the wood to make that many plus surplus for when spears broke? And this isn't even considering the number arrows there are

I posted this before the End of Days, but I don't think anyone had a chance to read it. In the Stephen Lawhead series "The Song of Albion" the main character, Llew, had his hand cut off and was given a new one made out of pure silver which he used to defeat all evil. Does anyone think that Rand could also be granted a new hand? And if so could it have powers of its own? I mean come on, heroes can't be maimed. (Jake Barnes being the exception) And if you got that joke we would get along really well.
