Does anyone besides myself wish there were a connecting book between New Spring and TEoTW? My biggest question is how Siuan rose to the Amyrlin Seat at such a young age?

Perrin assumes in the epilogue that the boys are no longer ta'veren. On one hand, this could be the authors' way of saying "ok, story over." On the other hand, there's a new age starting, an apocalypse to recove from, and a leadership void that the pattern has to fill, that the boys seem to be in position to fill (even rand/moridin, why have a new power with no purpose for it?) Besides all that, this is PERRIN, Mr. I-just-want-to-be-a-normal-guy Perrin, making this assumption, the most reluctant of all ta'veren. Could it be wishful thinking on his part? Are the boys still ta'veren (maybe not as strongly) or not?

Every one of them has at some extend but which ones would you put at the top of the list? For me, hands down, Rand, Nynaeve and Egwene. What do YOU think?

I need to find that qoute but I don't know where to look. He said something like this: 'There was nothing important in this Age. / Nothing important happened in this Age.' But he wrote 12 books about it. Can anybody explain this to me?

Finding myself with a small period of time to waste, I decided to carry out an experiment to track RJ's progressively more and more overt preoccupation with BDSM in the series. Automatic searches for number of appearances of " naked" and "switch" for all 12 novels. This is regardless of context, so it's not entirely accurate, but it's accurate enough (I will note that "switch" is hardly ever used by RJ in the sense of switching things, but almost always in the sense of a stick to beat someone with). Here are the results for anyone interested: The Eye of the World - 2 " naked", 3 "switch" The Great Hunt - 9 " naked", 9 "switch" The Dragon Reborn - 8 " naked",…

The Shaido had 4 hundred wise ones in their clan alone, it is remarked in CoT i think by, Masuri? That they had half the white tower in one clan. As there is no reason, to think which i know of,the Shaido had more channelers than the other clans, it stands to reason the Aiel should have had a overwhelming amount of channelers at the last battle, but apart from avi, amys and some others fighting at SG we dont see them. Worse its suggested that the channelers for the light are if not outnumbered at least matched by the ones for the DO. At roughly 4000 going from the amount of shaido channelers, that should be the combined numbers of WO who could channel, exceeding any othe…

Perrin, imo, was ...underdone. He has all of the makings to be a super awesome character, he talked to wolves, he COMMANDED them I suppose. I expected him to lead an army in the last battle, visions of wolf packs overwhelming trollocks and dreadlords. Alas, was not to be, Perrin was relegated to chasing down ONE, count 'em ONE, shadow merc and even then he got his ass kicked.....o.O Time was relative to the bore the last battle, so I suppose while Perrin was healing up, Slayer just took a paw and waited for him, after all, assassinating Rand wasn't a HUGE priority, ;p

In my opinion, a confrontation between Shaidar Haran and Fain/Mordeth would have been fantastic. Then the buildup of the evil vs "anti-evil" showdown would have happened as alluded to in the series. Shaidar Haran( Avatar of the Dark One) fighting Fain/Mordeth(a force of its own). Would they destroy each other in a similar fashion as Shadar Logoth destroyed the Dark One's taint at the cleansing? Would one destroy the other? This would be better than finding the husk of Shaidar Haran at Moridin's feet, how did that happen??? If they killed each other or one triumphed, their storylines now feel like they have greater value. If Fain/Mordeth wins, then it could b…

[spoilers Warning] Hello everybody, This being my first post, I suppose it will be as good an introduction as any. My name is Mark, I'm from Poland, I'm 29. I've been reading Wheel of Time for around a year now and have just finished the last tome today. From the first part to the last I was pretty much sucked into RJ's world and kept living it half the time, the other half being the real world. I had ~40 days of break from reading around the time when Mat journeyed with Tuon and Luca's show. Can't really say why, I was probably afraid of reading it all too fast and running out of books. Admittedly, those were some of the less exciting sequences of the whole…

I have another theory. When Nynaeve discovered a "broken link" in Logain and "healed" it, restoring his power, it made me ponder another concept. What if EVERYONE has the ability to channel locked within themselves and merely needs that "broken link" mended. In Logain, he was born with that link already made, but what's to say Nynaeve couldn't find a normal every day person and delve that person and find the same link that merely needs to be connected? After all, Saidin and Saidar are both a form of living energy that is in everything. Could it truly be in everyone in the form of a channeler when "healed" properly?

I couldn't find anywhere that this has been done recently. I want to know how you guys rank the books, from best to worst, more enjoyable to least, whatever you like. Also, if the placement of a certain book stands out to you then say why. Here's mine: The Shadow Rising - The origin of the Aiel is my favorite sequence of the series. TDR had finished a few plotlines that I felt were a bit cliche in fantasy and this book is where WOT really marks out it's own territory for me. The Great Hunt - So many good sections in this book. The pace is break neck but the world building is so solid that even the introduction of a magic horn can't spoil it : ) The Fires of …

I think he was my favourite Forsaken though I never understood why he wasn't reincarnated by the dark one when he was found murdered like happened to others. Anyone have any reasons? Cheers

Fain was a central villain for much of the series. He tormented the main characters, in many ways. He was not only against the main characters, but against the Dark One as well. He was being pushed as a villain among villains, and his mediocre ending was a complete letdown. What the hell happened? Did RJ just not have time to come up with a good ending before he died? Did BJ have to make one up at the last minute?

This question has been bothering me since i read the last book. At the end when Mat is talking to Arthur Hawking he asks if when he was hung at rhuidean broke him from the horn of valere. Hawking replies that it was a time before that but both times he was reveived by Rand. What time is he talking about i reread the series and I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know??

So who killed him? I've been re-reading the series and I've just gotten past where Rand and Asmodean smash apart Rhuidean to try and obtain the Choedan-Kal. My question is this: Asmodean grilled Mat about Rand and what they had seen in Rhuidean, and went over every little detail of what they found in the square. So he obviously realises that the Choedan-Kal is in Rhuidean for at least a week or two before he Skims from al'Cair Dal. Wouldn't he have been better off just going back on his own before then? Why didn't he?

I just finished AMoL and I am a bit confused. How was Birgitte able to be reborn as a Hero of the Horn when she was ripped out of TAR by Moghedian? Or are those two events not connected? I assumed that when she was ripped from the Pattern via being forcibly ejected from TAR, she would not be reborn and thus would no longer be a Hero. Was her murder a trigger that enabled her to be reborn? Thanks for your input.

If this was covered in another post, please forgive me and enlighten at the same time. Anyway - I dont remember which one its was - aginor, or someone "made" the trollocs and the fades? But since they got locked up or killed...who is creating more? And I'm guessing they dont breed otherwise some Aiel would have done a strikeforce to destroy the breeding grounds. Don't be too serious in any reply...

Hi Everyone, this is my first post in these forums, so please forgive me if this has been hashed a thousand times already. :) The reason I'm starting this topic is because I'm dissatisfied with what I've read of other threads on this topic. Here are my thoughts: 1- Duels and battles are never completely deterministic. There is always an element of chance. The best blademaster could be killed by a farmer with a pitchfork, but that doesn't mean the farmer is a better fighter. I think it's just as important to analyze *how* a fight is won/lost, rather than stating the outcome. For example, when Rand was training against 6 swordsmen, he was defeated because the sw…

I'm honestly not sure what the French were thinking when they designed their Wheel of Time covers. Here are some that I found: Here's a cover for The Dragon Reborn. A lot of these are just random medieval pictures that have no connection to the series whatsoever. And it also seems to have an actual DRAGON on it. A 3-headed dragon. Here's a cover for "The Invasion of Darkness." I think it's part 1 of the eye of the world. Will someone please explain to me what's going on and how this has anything to do with The Wheel of Time? A cover for The Eye of the World. I think that's supposed to be a trolloc....or something. This is a cover for Part 2 of The Sh…

I would have loved a story arc involving Shara. Aside from one mere mention of the place in LoC, there has been no where in the entire series that I remember any more than a 'Lands beyond the waste, where people who go beyond walled cities and ports disappear,' line. With the series drawing to a close, I know it won't happen. Just like there won't be anything involving that Mad Man's Land or whatever it's called south of the Seafolk Isles. Would have been nice though. Shara has been one thing that has always made me wonder. Clearly, the world in The Wheel of Time that we are given is far too small. I know it's fantasy and all but I can't help but thinking there mu…
