I think the title says it all. I am interested to hear what people think about the effect that some of the personal attacks on Brandon Sanderson and Team Jordan have had on the WoT community, especially here at Dragonmount. It seems that over the past several months many posts have gone beyond mere literary criticism and are taking shots at Brandon's integrity in finishing the series.

The Warders. How do you see them? I think it depends on time. Before our story they were practically dogs/slaves/servants but after the books they will be (mostly) workers/partners. Agree or disagree?

Is there anything Rand did or said, that made you want to slap him? I hated when he would not let the maidens of the spear fight.

In AMoL its stated thats its been 2 years since the story started. In the LoC Nyn states she hasn't seen Rand in a year +/- when being questioned by one of the AS at Salidar. They were last together at the Stone which was a year after the story started. So did the timeline change somewhere in the process? Trying to keep track of time in this series can be confusing to say the least. TEotW starts in the spring, in TDR the Stone falls in the spring/early summer so 1 year gone. Now jump ahead to LoC its been another year this seems ok to me alot has happened from TDR to LoC. But after this point time gets very hard to keep track of in WH Rand knocks up Elayne by AMoL she is …

I came on here to post this topic, and saw that there was a similar one about favorite Wheel of Time sayings. But that seems more serious, I thought it would be fun to hear everyone's favorite Wheel of Time curse (or just general exclamation). For me, it begins and ends with "Mother's milk in a cup!"

Do you guys pronounce the names and places in the books according to the glossary, or according to the way they first were "pronounced" in your head? Or some mix between? I know Birgitte, for example, is supposed to be (bur-GEET-ah), I think? But she is firmly in my head as (Ber-Geet), period. Aes Sedai, on the other hand, I was prouncing all jacked up when I first started reading, and switched to the glossary/correct pronounciation when I got to it. How about you guys? Does anyone even care? lol

Afternoon, I've just read New Spring and there were a few parts of the book that suggest Moiraine and Siuan could be / have been lovers - or it could be a complete mis-interpretation by me  Moiraine blushing when realising the AS would have known things during her testing, a comment when Moiraine and Siuan share a bed while in the tower. I can't remember the exact parts of the book, but that kind of thing. Any comments? Regards, Kris.

As I posted before when I joined the forum recently, I started the series probably about 20 years ago, then life got in the way for several years (marriage, divorce, remarriage, fatherhood, a few new jobs, etc) and I stopped somewhere around Path of Daggers. However, once I read that Brandon Sanderson had finished the series, I decided to tackle the series again, and I started off from the beginning early this year and have finally made it most of the way through A Memory of Light. I would also recommend the audiobooks if you get a chance - Michael Kramer and Kate Reading do a very good job, Kramer reading the male POVs and Reading the female POVs. I've listened t…

I'm back to work after a 6 month sabbatical so probably won’t get the chance to post here any more. I’ve been meaning to do a quick summary of what I liked and disliked about TWOT so here it is. Apologies if this has been posted in the wrong area. Please feel free to move it. Likes 1) World creation - I have never read a series with such a diverse and well thought out world. The TWOT world is massive and RJ spent a lot of time thinking and developing it 2) A light read - For the most part I have enjoyed the simple nature of TWOT prose. Both RJ and Sanderson did not bombard you with complicated sentences or vocabulary 3) Descriptive fight scenes - thoroughly enjoyed th…

A big problem I had with Rand and the DO. I may be mistaken, but my understanding was that the Pattern as made by the Creator is by its nature neither good nor evil. The Dark One wants to break this system of balance. So I couldn't understand why Rand killing the DO would create a world without free will because nobody can do evil. People doing evil is part of the pattern. That could only happen if Rand also tried to alter the pattern then? Wouldn't killing the dark one still leave a world with free will and where people could do evil? It seemed to be suggesting that the DO is the source of all evil and necessary for the Pattern to work which explicitly contradicts the no…

I love the way we see Emond's Field change from a small village into a town. With new buildings, crafts and cultures. But does anyone eles think that it happens a bit too quickly?

Good Evening, I'm a long time lurker and have re-read the series twice since my beginning as a WoT reader. Although I only began to read whilst Brandon Sanderson was finishing up with ToM. I have read so much of the manner in which RJ left his notes and concepts for Brandon Sanderson but have heard so little about the actual reaction of his death. If you were a reader then, what was the response like? Was it known that RJ was in his last day's? I'm sorry but I have seen no R.I.P or anything anywhere and I am just intrigued into the nature of the stakeholder's of WoT response to this mans untimely death. Thank you in Advance.

So, am I the only one who felt that there's a maajor difference between Taim and M'Hael? I loved Taim, but when he became M'Hael it felt like he went from Magnificent Bastard to just ordinary bastard. Perhaps in large part this is due to the fact that the personality traits that made him such a Magnificent Bastard were cheapened if they were jjust the result of him being a Darkfriend. The thing that I found so appealing about him was that here was a man with such utter swaggering self-confidence that he was able to holdthe Taint back by pure force of personality. Though they tried to replace him with Logain, Logain just doesn't have the falir that Taim does. He's an i…

Mr. Jordan frequently uses the word: heaven(s). As far as I remember he stated that there is no religion at all (needed a quote) in the world of WoT (right now). But when I talk to others and I say 'heaven' everybody refers to God. heav·en (hvn) n. 1. The sky or universe as seen from the earth; the firmament. Often used in the plural. 2. Christianity a. often Heaven The abode of God, the angels, and the souls of those who are granted salvation. b. An eternal state of communion with God; everlasting bliss. 3. Any of the places in or beyond the sky conceived of as domains of divine beings in various religions. 4. a. Heaven God: Heaven help you! b. heaven…

When Ishamael/Moridin used the True Power in (some past book I can't remember), he linked himself with Lews Therin/Rand and made him able to channel the True Power! Think about it. If your thinking "what benefit is that to Moridin?" He might have done it by accident. And Rand only uses it after that scene.

This is my first post so if this has been addressed elsewhere please forgive me. I would very much like your opinion on whether I am right on these as well as if anyone knows the origin of other names, words and phrases that Mr. Jordan used in the books. I am fascinated by the linguistic and mythological origins of the words and phrases he used in the books. I would like to compile as complete a list as possible of sources for as many things as possible. I hope ultimately to pin down in a general way the structure of the "Old Tongue" and see what linguistics origin(s) it had. I hope that many people will be as fascinated by this topic as I am but if not I would ask that y…

Apologies up front if this has already been discussed ad nauseam. I'm new to Dragonmount and have attempted to search the forums but could not find a discussion about this. My question is about something that happened in The Shadow Rising (TSR); and I have NOT read past Lord of Chaos (LoC). How/why could Siuan not sense that her warder, Alric, had been killed at the opening of the Tower coup? Again, I haven't read past LoC so please don't spoil anything. I'd ask that when/if you respond, let me know if you are just voicing theory/opinion or if there is legit evidence. Thanks!

I am hoping someone can help me out. As the plans for the final battle are shaping up the main front is in Camelyn in hope that they can win a decisive victory quickly and move to help the other fronts. I was under the impression they were sending the bulk of the forces of light there and that they only had at most 100,000 trollocs to fight. Why do they struggle do much even with Bashere inadvertently working against them? everyone else seems to have an endless horde of trollocs and dreadlords and does better. Did I miss something?

We're introduced to Suroth early, she's one of the first Seanchan we meet and one of the first confirmed darkfriends. I certainly found that on my first read through because of this, and the traumatic circumstances of that meeting it took me a long time to disassociate the Seanchan from all being darkfriends (What can I say, I was young). A couple of interesting tid-bits can be gleaned from our introduction to Suroth. Despite the entire set-up being to benefit the DO, her reaction is very much in line with being a Seanchan. But although at this stage we don't have any information on Renna being a DF or not she's willing to overlook allowing a marath damane to g…

Firstly hello. Now, I am looking for a map that shows the paths of the main characters, a visual chronology of sorts. I am aware of SevenSpokes and others, but what I am looking for is a map, not text. Thank you for your time and efforts.

I am part of the way through TOM, and I am giving up. I cannot read Sanderson any more. This was the last straw: <<<Gawyn joined him. Sleete threw the deadbolt a few times in its lock. "This door might have been forced," he said softly. "See the scrape here on the deadbolt? You can pop open this kind of lock by sliding a thin pick in and pushing it on the deadbolt, then putting pressure on the handle. It can be done very quietly.">>> Forget the needless drama. Forget the use of "deadbolt" and "pop open" ... I think we can all acknowledge that Sanderson's language leaves a lot to be desired. What set me off here was the reminder that as a…
