  1. I was reading the World book where it discusses the forsaken and it mentions about the Forsaken being granted abilities beyond comprehension and being super-powered. But, TBH, past a certain point in the series they stop being quite as threatening to our main characters. Nynaeve and Rand have beaten them several times with Nynaeves actually over-powering one of them. Nynaeve I certainly wouldn't consider a demi-god (although Rand is Rand of course :)) Later on, it actually turns out that there are in fact many channelers as good or stronger than Nynaeve and some men even close to Rand. We also continue to see the main characters taken down and captured by low level mages …

  2. The truths that Rand learned in his confrontation with the Dark One, that both good and evil are required to make a person whole, and that the world without a DO would be just as bad as a world without the Light. I believe that this proves that the Creator and the Dark One are in reality the same being. They are two halves of the same whole. They are nature itself. Tranquility and Chaos......Creation and Destruction. The DarK One prison being broken is not only unaboidable, but necessary. Just like the world Rand saw while facing the DO, if evil is left out of the world for too long, people lose part of themselves, and the world loses meaning. The Darkness …

  3. This is the most hypocritical character I have ever read about. Tuon can channel, she knows that every suldam is a channeler and has seen other suldam channel. This view cannot co-exist with her old belief that all channelers are animals and inherently evil. This is like somebody who is Jewish organizing the holocaust and pretending they are German. Tuon is a horrible and contemptible person for this. Yet the text wants to portray her as a strong sympathetic POV character in the same league as Egwene and Elayne? Somebody to help present the Seanchan as sympathetic? Really wish the text would quit trying to do this every chance it can get. I am sure there were nice people…

  6. Now that the series is done, and the majority of people have finished the book I wanted to see if we could get a good collection of information on the different ages of the Wheel of time, and what the world was like during those ages. Age 1: None Age 2: Age of Legends - Quite a bit of information. World was peaceful, prosperous. Lots of great feats with the OP. Age 3: Age of Illusions - Main age of the story. No need to discuss Age 4: Glimps of possible future via Aviendha. Not much else known. Possible technology Age 5: None Age 6: None Age 7: None. One of those ages is supposed to be present day where no chaneling is present. My guess is …

Hello everyone, haven't been around in a long time and was searching the board for a thread about unanswered questions or unknown fates about the series. Does anyone know if Brandon Sanderson has mentioned this anywhere? In a Q and A or something? If you know, please direct me to it. Thanks

  8. I asked this on another forum. They reckoned I had overestimated how tall I thought they were (cept Moraine, she beautiful midget :D), I figured Elayne was 6ft and Aviendha 6 2''. Elayne is described as tall and I pretty much assumed Maidens=Amazons and Aviendha=redhead Wonder Woman. I know Rand is meant to be 6 6 like most Aiel men and I never really felt he was meant to be THAT much taller than the women. Also, we were really surprised that Birgitte is shorter than Nynaeve and more than a hand shorter than Elayne. I always assumed she was pretty tall being a warrior and having this slightly fae like quality as one of the heroes. BTW, on a side note, I love in New Sp…

  9. Started by BFG,

It's a bit of a rambling discussion this week as there are several things about the wolf dreams that interest me. First (with the help of the wot wiki) there's the wolf dreams that Perrin has. Most of which seem to have been satisfactorily answered, I've included the ones that seem strange to me. tSR 28 This seems curious because almost all the other dreams reference specific events (Eg becoming Amrylin, Rand becoming Car'a'carn, Mat choosing to go to Rhuidean. This seems more generic somehow, also Eg and Amys see Perrin, which appears to be the only time he's noticed. Maybe it's specifically referencing the Seanchan attack, when Eg meets Perrin?. tSR 53 …

Ok so i read AMOL 2 times. All the other books except for the Gatherign storm at least 50 a piece (over 20 year period). Does any one else who used to pick the books up and read them all and then once you set the last one down pick the first one right back up again. Do you feel the need to read the books any more, or are you like me who packed them away probally not to be read again for a long long time. Like a whole turning of the wheel. thoughts on this from you all would be great.

  11. I would like to post a long thread covering all the TWOT books. It will include some spoilers but will mostly be about my personal feelings/opinions on the series. I've been reading TWOT for almost two decades and I want to have a good old fashion vent. :-)

  12. Finally, I am about to start book 14: Memory of Light. What a long 20+ year journey since I found Eye of the World in a grocery store in Great Falls Montana while there for a ski trip in which I took food poisoning. I've re-read the series a lot of times, usually when each new book came out, though after Book 10, I waited for 2 books to come out before reading the entire series again. Ie- I read Book 11 and Book 12 when Book 12 came out, and I have waited until now to read Book 13 and 14. Few comments: -I am excited to read the final book in the series. This is by far my favorite series. -I really enjoyed Towers of Midnight. Its been out a couple years, but I had saved …

  13. With the Wheel spinning full circle and the main plot finished, discussion will inevitably die down. To keep the Wheel spinning, I have decided it would be a good idea to look back on various aspects of the wheel and perhaps uncover some hidden gems that we may have missed. So from now on, every Monday we will create a topic discussing an aspect of the WoT and hope to create discussion. The big characters have been recently discussed, I thought to start with an interesting, but somewhat forgotten character. Alviarin Freidhen, White Sister, Keeper of the Chronicles and Head of the Black Ajah. Perhaps fittingly, Alviarin's history remains a mystery. The earli…

  14. Every suldam has to be Seanchan and usually they always come in pairs. Since they're not recruiting locals to be suldam and the empire has been destroyed by Semihurge how come the Seanchan are able to keep harvesting all these extra damane? Especially with them suffering losses in battle. Every suldam should be irreplaceable and putting an ever lowering cap on how many damane they can have in the field.

  15. I've been doing a full series re-read following AMoL and yesterday I came to one of my favourite scenes in ToM - Nynaeve's test for AS. When I first read this I thought it was awesome: Nynaeve finally goes through a bit of character growth, Egwene apologises to her, the irrational practices of the AS and their aloofness are called down, plus there was some pretty good writing in it. However, on my second re-read of this scene I'm left with some questions about the logic of the whole thing. Firstly, Egwene tells Elayne and Egwene that she wants them to come to the Tower so that they can be made proper AS, however she seems to think that there is no need for Nynaeve …

At the end he could not draw on Saidin or True Power but he does have something else; He regarded his pipe, riding up a little incline to the side of Thakan'dar, now covered in plants. No way to light the tabac. He inspected it for a moment in the darkness, then thought of the pipe being lit. And it was. ???

There is a certain time when Rand encounters a banner with a swordsman surrounded by a number of other swordsman. The meaning behind it is that when you are surrounded by multiple enemies, it is best to pick the ones you want to fight rather than fight them all at once. PLEASE help me find where this is in the series. I believe he is talking to Bashere about it. Also I believe that maybe Cadsuane sees it (or maybe Egwene in the World of Dreams) and remarks that the banner doesn't do anything for his sanity or the fact that he needs to be hard but not brittle and so on (so it might possibly be one of the wise ones who encounters it) Ive narrowed it down to before the rogue…

This is my favorite volume so far! And I have finally reached the notorious braid-tugging and skirt smoothing! Ha ha. Maybe forewarned is forearmed, 'cause it's not bothering me (quite) as much as I was led to believe it would. But if Nynaeve keeps tuggin' that thing it's gonna fall off! Thoughts so far: 1. My favorite thread in the story is the Aes Sedai. I love all the Tar Valon stuff, the byzantine politics and intrigues, the culture and lore, the allusions to myth and history. I could seriously read a whole series just about this stuff. This is surprising, I wasn't expecting to like that portion of the story, but I love it!! So far, New Spring & TDR are m…

Apologies in advance if this isn't a proper forum, didn't see anything specifying appearances and such. So, Mr. Sanderson will be at Phoenix Comicon this coming Weekend (May 23rd-May26th). He will be having two panels, one dedicated to WoT and one more general. So figured I'd post up and see if there's any question requests for when I see him. Thank you. :) Edit: And I feel silly for not finding it. Thank you.

  23. How do you think this would have affected the series? If it were one of those alternate worlds? Would she have been a great queen? Overthrown? Grown hard but powerful like she feared? Would her and Siun still have been able to search for the Dragon? Moiraine said that even as a lord she would have done this with the resources she had; as Queen she would have had more. Or would the dark one have probably won had this occurred?

  24. Its the bit where she was getting annoyed with the Aes Sedai making out like they were her equal so she goes out of her way to make a point and humiliate them. Its a very good demonstration of her attitude towards channelers and the idea of the White Tower as a powerful body; they are animals she thinks of with contempt. But, isn't she being a little stupid relying on her slave managing to quickly collar both Aes Sedai, who are powerful enough to literally blow her to pieces by thinking it? Bearing in mind she doesn't know about the three oaths and should assume any loose damane is dangerous? Whats to stop either seizing them in air? I have to be honest the series can be …

I'm a lurker I admit, but I've been here for quite some time, even remember the topics where we thought Luckers actually was RJ. This forum has helped a ton of people to kill time and theorize in-between books, including me. I come here less and less now and it saddens me to see how inactive the community has become. No fault on anyone, it is just how things work. I just wanted to say thank you to Dragonmount and maybe I see you guys around. /Moroten

Howdy, just joined the forums nice to be here :) Now i've been reading this series coming close to almost a year now and i've almost reached the end of Crossroads of Twilight. Thus far it's becoming one of the more mediocre novels in the series (my favorites are The Great Hunt and Lord of Chaos) and something has got into my head about the series that's been making it difficult for me to be invested into the reading, was hoping if any one of you could provide some insight into my negative thoughts so that my motivation to really read through the series increases :) *PLEASE NO SPOILERS PAST THE TENTH NOVEL* right, here we go ! 27. Now that the Wheel has come full circle, and the entire story has been told; what is your final verdict on the story? For a long many of us have withheld judgement on some of the stories main points until all is revealed. Finally, with the full story revealed (or as far as it will ever be revealed) what are you thoughts on the various plot-lines we have lived - sometimes for decades. A few things to remember when thinking about this topic: - I specify that this is plot specific - quality of writing is not the topic of debate. However, there is valid crticism to be made on the plot written by both authors. Praising or criticising both RJ and Brandon's plot vi…

I believe it was in TSR, I'm almost certain it was Melaine, but definetly a wise one. The gist of it was that making a decision on emotion blinds you for the moment, but making decisions solely on reason blinds you for a lifetime...Any ideas on where in the series this quote is found or am I imagining things?
