Over the past few years there has been much speculation about which parts of the last three volumes of WOT were written by Robert Jordan, which were complete fabrications of Brandon Sanderson and which fall somewhere in between. Some people it seems have researched this topic very thoroughly. I remember once reading somewhere, I believe it was in a blog posted by RJ's cousin Wilson that shortly before RJ's death he and Harriet had had a dinner party with some of their family and close friends. Following that party they all sat by the fireside while RJ told them the rest of the story of The Wheel of Time. Later I reads somewhere later that this fireside chat had been …

Has anyone noticed how many times the evil or nasty women in WoT suffer fates worse than death? The bad guys, such as Rahvin, Aginor etc, die in battle quickly, but evil women really suffer. Here are the fates worse than death of evil or nasty women. Liandrin of the Black Ajah - after she tried to overpower an injured Moghedion, she was tightly shielded by Moggy, Compelled to not suicide and given to a fat cook as a scullery maid for punishment. Later, she's captured by the Seanchan and made da'covale to Suroth, who definitely wasn't treating her well. Galina of the BA - captured by the Shaido after Dumai's Wells. Sammael later brings an Oath Rod, which all…

The signing in Birmingham started out for the Memory Keepers with 6 of the 7 of us meeting at a local restaurant for a quick bite to maintain our strength because we knew that it was going to be a busy night. We went into the Books-a-Million around 6pm to get organized for Brandon and Harriet’s arrival. Since it was raining and there are two entrances we staked out both. As luck would have it, I stepped outside just as Brandon and Harriet were dropped off by their driver. We got to meet with Brandon and Harriet in a back room to get our books signed and do a quick Q&A session. It was an amazing experience! Jennifer and Jimmy Liang (JordanCon and DragonMount) alon…

Hey all! First time poster; long time lurker. I was hoping to tap your collective knowledge for a paper I'm writing. As part of my English 102 course, I have chosen to focus my research project on the influences, recurring themes, and origins of contemporary fantasy literature with a specific look at The Wheel of Time. The most challenging aspect of my research is finding academic material to reference. For example Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces should prove very useful; Tolkien's essay "On Fairy-Stories" as well. Do you know of anything specific to WoT? I have been reading The Wheel of Time for half my life, and now that it's finished it was the …

Hello WoT fans! Memory Keeper Bill Tracy, aka Mandamon, here (via Jaimie Sedai), reporting on the third-to-last signing for A Memory of Light that took place in Raleigh, North Carolina, on February 20th. We were lucky to have both Brandon and Harriet with us. We convened at Quail Ridge Books and Music, a fantastic independent bookstore that has been serving the Raleigh community for nearly thirty years, and is well known to locals and students at the nearby North Carolina State University. Quail Ridge Books is unique in that it acts as a meeting place for writers of all ages - both new and seasoned. They have a large space available for books signings, and it w…

Is there anyway of finding a list of all the sword moves in the book, seeing how they are performed, etc either photos or detailed description. I try to imagine them in my head. but ignorance plus repetion pretty much leads to the same moves or a very special display of finger painting. :P Anyone?

As a fan of this series of epic books, thanks to all involved. Thank you Lady McDougal, for the foresight and respect of your honored Husband to complete this series so fast after the untimely passing of a beloved aviation combat veteran. My Lady McDougal, your choice of Mr Sanders is deeply appreciated and in my honest opinion... I feel the love :-) With respect and humility, this fan understand's your loss and is humbled by your passion to respect His loving memory. Mr Sanders, all I can say is congratulations from a new (paying) fan. enjoy

Hi, I'm James, and I'm the First Among Equals for the Seattle A Memory of Light signing! The event itself was pretty huge, and we each had some pretty unique experiences, so I figure that the best way to give a run-down of the event is for each of the Memory Keepers to come in and make a post about their own experience at the event. I got to the bookstore a little before 4pm, and Eric and Jeff S. were already there chatting it up about The Wheel of Time (because what else would we talk about?). I had my friend Melody with me, who would later prove instrumental in getting things done at the event. Jeff S. had already spoken with someone at the bookstore, and they s…

Inquiring about concepts for a continuation of the wheel of time series. will it start years apst the whole character line we got to know, with new dilemma past the dark on ehimself, or maybe internal corruption of man? Since we didnt get a reunion on screen anybody want to try and make a fan fiction version of their reunion. I would try but my grammar and writing are pretty bad. Id imagine Siuan would drop all Aes Sedai serenity and start running if she saw Moiraine. (Interesting that in New Spring siuan was the more calm one in control and now it seems like its Moiraine).

Recently a thread was started to compile a list of characters' fates not specified in AMoL to ask Brandon and Harriet about. This is a thread intended for speculations on the fates of said characters. Did they live? Did they die? Where are they now? Go! Hello Fellow Wheel of Time Fans, Sorry for the delay Our team of Memory Keepers for the Vancouver book signing with Brandon Sanderson were excited for our opportunity to meet him in person and to share our love of the series with fellow fans. (Plus the swag wasn’t too bad either.) First off, I'd like to say that Brandon was a class act individual. He was humble, appreciative and gracious in meeting with us and the other fans. I was particularly impressed by his ability to answer potentially spoiling questions without making them spoilers for others. His thoughtfulness towards those that had difficulty standing or those with young children (3 or younger) was very …

I would just like to tell someone/people Reading the last page of AMoL while listening to this song was one of the most profoundly sad and beautiful moments of my life, having grown up with this epic series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hluMK_Rpj0

The Reds have always been solely responsible for hunting down and gentling male channelers. With Saidin cleansed, their purpose for the last 3 thousand years is gone. What will they do now? I believe that the Reds will be turned into the recruitment Ajah, searching for and testing potential novices.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I was wondering if there is any added value in my copy of aMoL. The book appears normal, but the book just stops at page 880. The next page if the back of the map. I do read a lot, but I have no idea what kind of market might exist for these kinds of things. Thanks for any insight. P.S. Amazon is shipping me a corrected version, and they are requesting that I send this one back. If it has any value, I may just keep them both and pay Amazon for the second copy.

I am doing my second read of the series and am currently on CrossRoads. I just got to thinking that Balwer reminds me of what Mordeth/Fain should have been. He seems like a good guy and is knowledgeable. He seems to have good intentions and that seems to be the different. Under different circumstances would he have ended up the same as Mordeth. I just thought it was an interesting connection since Mordeth started out as an advisor to the king of Aridhol.

Reporting in from blustery Toronto, Canada, where a great time was had by all. We were down by one Memory Keeper, as Paul unfortunately had to cancel last minute. However, the six remaining ones -- Rebecca, our "First Among Equals", Karen, Lisa, Praan, Alex and Alex (just to be confusing, I'm sure) were overjoyed to be able to take part and to have this opportunity. Doors to the signing at the Lillian H. Smith Library (home to The Merril Collection) opened up just after 6:00, with a fairly sizeable group of fans already waiting in line. We started the evening off with games such as trivia, word searches and crosswords until Brandon arrived and took the floor. …

Ok, so we've seen Deathgates, horizontal gateways for spying, lava gateways... What else is there? Also, RJ thought that their were limits to the effectiveness of gateways, can we think what these are?

Well. Thought I might as well make a thread about it since I talk about it enough. The Forsaken are usually criticised as being... stupid. and they certainly show their fair share of arrogance, overconfidence and narcicism throughout the series. but what would you consider the Forsaken's moments of glory? The moments where they show true skill and intelligence and grit against Rand and the forces of light. The moments that make you go. "Wow, team light may have an actual fight on their hands after all."

Same as for the favorite bad guy, this is votes only. If you want to debate a character's virtues and flaws take it to the appropriate threads. Obviously due to the unhealthy amount of characters I couldn't include all of them in the poll, so feel free to point out in the comments who you like best. Of course Logain is the only right choice to a balanced mind.

It doesn't seem as if many people know about this yet, but Harriet has donated a computer with 4000 pages of notes for The Wheel of Time to the Addlestone Library. She also donated marked up manuscripts, promo materials, and props (such as Perrin's axe, Rand's heron-marked blade, and Mat's dagger) to the library as well. The original press release can be found here: http://www.charlestoncitypaper.com/charleston/addlestone-library-debuts-wheel-of-time-collection/Content?oid=4431841 As the library goes through the process of cataloguing all of the papers (and scanning them for us to access via an online database) they are updating a blog they have cleverly called The T…

Wow. What can I say. I'm not good at being able to convey what I'm feeling, but I'd like to try. Let me start by saying that I have NOT read AMoL, just yet. I've had some health issues, and I've just been able to get back around to catching up on certain hobbies. The fact that I HAVEN'T yet read the book is where my heart is, at the moment. I just wanted to say that WoT has been some part of my life for 20+ years now. I started reading it as an early teenager. And last year, when this last installment that would finally wrap up our great story was set to finally come out, I wasn't really feeling anything but excitement. But now that It's finally here, now that the…

Been skimming through the WoT Wiki today to refresh my memory on some things and get more details in general. In the breaking article an interesting question is brought up. The breaking was caused by insane male Aes Aedai. However during the AoL there were an equal number of male/female AS and presumably after the sealing the ratio would of been pretty much the same in the abscene of any evidence that female AS were culled in greater numbers. This results in a situation where there are relatively equal numbers of sane, rational, organised women in tandem with insane, isolated, desperate, potentially unorganised men. The remaining female AS should of been able…

On January 8th, 2013, Tarmon Gai’don arrived for Wheel of Time fans in the form of A Memory of Light. Some of you have been waiting for that day for decades; others, like myself, considerably less time but with just as much anticipation. We survived the release of the final book, but the journey hasn’t ended yet. On February 18th, the book tour featuring Brandon Sanderson and Harriet McDougal made its way to Hanover, Maryland, and for many fans we got to say one final goodbye to the series that is Robert Jordan’s legacy. We even had the special privilege of getting a live demonstration from the audiobook readers, Michael Kramer and Kate Reading, turning the event into…

Whatever you do, do NOT go to the back of the book to look for the Appendix/Dictionary. It is NOT there. I was mortified to read a portion accidentally along the lines of "<character name here> said "blah blah blah", indicating that the character survived to the end of the book.
