  1. http://www.sevenspokes.com/images/wallpaper/map-1600-24.bmp Just found that one. I like it with the borders, and major cities are marked. Any mistakes on that one, or does anyone have a more recent one? I've seen some better ones, but they didn't have borders. I'd enjoy one that showed the Seanchan holdings, but I think that's too much to ask for.

So the 3 oaths prevents Aes Sedai from speaking a lie, but could they not shake or nod their head at questions or write it on paper?

Hey everyone. I used to come here a lot years ago. It's been a while but i'm making my return because I've been re-reading the series and been keeping maps and notations of Rand, Perrin, and Matt's movements in the Randland world. It has become a more daunting task than i expected, especially with the traveling that Rand does starting in FoH. Anyway, without further ado, here is the link to my website hosting it: http://www.ramblesnonsense.com/?page_id=8 The maps are SPOILER FREE, unless you choose to view the way point descriptions. in that case, it is incredibly spoiling. But the text is hidden unless you click on the button to expand it. So far only b…

Many Sisters, mostly Red, reference, talk about or think about the "Vileness" that occured some twenty-odd years ago. Several went into exile or penance as a consequence of the event. Is the vileness related to the death of the Amyrlin (via BA) who first heard the Foretelling that Moriane and Siuan witnessed? Any info would be appreciated.

We recently posted a "making of" feature on Michael Whelan's website for his cover illustration of A MEMORY OF LIGHT. Michael takes readers behind the scenes, describing his process with dozens of preliminary concepts, drawings and studies created for AMOL. http://www.michaelwhelan.com/into-shayol-ghul/

So I got my copy delivered at work today from Amazon while I was in training for new software we are rolling out. Of course the training ran long when all I wanted to do was get home and get to reading. Eventually that happened and I got home ate and was rolling right along when all of sudden the book jumped 60 pages or so. The iniside map page that is glued to the cover also had a minor tear inside, from what looked like to much glue building up in one spot. Luckily I live within a few miles of a mall and it was open for another 30 minutes, so off I ran to get another copy. They had two left so actually disaster basically averted, though I'll be requesting a retur…

Okay, the Pattern is difficult enough for me to wrap my head around, but what is up with Mat's luck? This isn't from an in-universe standpoint, I understand it perfectly fine, this is from a story structure standpoint. It just feels like such a covenient thing for a character to have. How are the villains meant to fight someone with superhuman luck? I get that his luck reverses and becomes bad at certain points, but that's not controlled by the actions of Mat or his opponents, it's a trait that's completely at the whim of the author, and I'm not so sure that's a good idea. If there's one thing that irks me in stories, it's a plot made of contrivances. Where the only reaso…

  12. Does anybody know if there is any intention to update The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time? This book is a great source for background information on all the stuff within Randland and the series as a whole. It came out around the time of Path of Daggers so it should hold information up tile then, but that still leaves 6 books and the Prequel that are not included. It would be nice to have this in addition to any additional background info Robert Jordan may have had to explain topics that perhaps couldn't have been released at that time.

Question..... How long do you think it's going to take them to figure out that for a women to be healed completely from stilling, it has to be healed by a man? Example: Nynaeve couldn't fully heal Siuan or Leane, but completely healed Logain. I think it'll happen this way because the way that the male and female half push and pull each other. Mistress Anan was an Aes Sedai, I think she will be healed by an Asha'man but won't go back to being an Aes Sedai. I also think that since she is married and has children, she will probably conform to Egwene's version of the Kin.

I am searching for a quote of rand, sometime after he is captured by Aes Sedai but before his dragonmount epiphany, where he says something like "I won't be put in a box again" or "I won't be boxed again". Sorry for the vagueness, but does anyone know it? Is there a better way to search than google?

Thank you to Lara, one of my fellow Memory Keepers, for writing this post! Book Signing Lexington, KY with Brandon Sanderson and Harriet McDougal Rigney January 11, 2013 As I was talking with fans as they were waiting to have their books signed, one of them asked me if I was the Loial of the Memory Keepers. I liked it, so I said yes. So consider this Loial’s report of the signing. The Wheel of Time books were front and center as one entered Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Lexington. The barista at Bronte’s Bistro said the managers were worried about running out of everything with the volume of people they were expecting. People began to file in, one or two in cost…

Since Avhienda is going to have 4 babies at once (min's viewing). I have been wondering on how this is to happen since according to the Rhuidean vision, these appear to be 4 different childern (i.e. not identical, all fraternal). Since Rand seems to make everything more fertile around him - apples growing and roses blooming, etc... So since he makes everything more fertile around him, then does he also make Avhienda more fertile as well - hence 4 babies at once?

  22. I sat wondering here the other day and I know this question is pure speculation since nothing about it have been mentioned in the books as far as I know, but is it possible that any of the male channelers Cadsuane brought in and helped deal with gentling could be alive at the time the story of the books are happening? I mean Cadsuane have been in and out of retirement, and while the only one of her victims we have heard any details about lived for ten years, all Jordan have said about it is that they lived for less than a full lifespan so there could be some of them who have lived for twenty or thirty years so I was just speculation if any of them could be alive and if Ca…

I know it's widely agreed on that Moiraine's kesiera is nothing but a pretty blue stone (wich she says herself in Eye of the World), that she sometimes uses as a focal point for eavesdropping. But I have searched and searched on the net and stil haven't found someone properly adress this from The Fires of Heaven, chapter 51. First, on page 794 in my version: "Moiraine glanced at the medallion dismissively. The small blue stone hanging on her forehead seemed to catch the light and glow, though the angles were wrong." And then five pages later: "That blue stone on her forehead was catching the light again." I haven't noticed this before, but I recently d…

I have seen a few posts around the web regarding poor businees practice and the overselling of the WOT specialty leatherbound editions. I would like to have the opportunity to have my story told. My girlfriend preordered the book from Books-A-Million as a Christmas present for me. The transaction was paid for and the book was never delivered. I entered into a public email conversation with a Customer Representative from BAM. The company has completely failed to assist or compensate for their utter lack of order organization or coordination. I have never been treated so poorly by a company before. I gave BAM ample opportunity to make a bad situation better, they …

I picked up AMOL today, and mused for a bit (not for the first time) on how awesome the title is. I think there's a certain talent in coming up with an excellent name for a book, song, movie, anything artistic. A way of taking just a few words, or even a single word, and making it poetic in its context. Of course, a lot of that has to do with just me, what I think about any given title won't necessarily translate to someone else. So for no particular reason at all, here's my impression of the WOT titles: The Eye of the World - 5/10. Not too bad, doesn't evoke anything particular. The Great Hunt - 2/10. Too trite, too obvious. The Dragon Reborn - 7.5/10. Bala…

I just finished up my reread before AMoL, and I noticed the passage where Rhuarc tells Rand about the meegerling. ToM: Chapter 13, location 3911 of the Kindle edition. "'In the Three-fold Land' Rhuarc said, stepping forward, 'there is an animal. The meegerling. It looks much like a rat, but it is far more stupid. If you place it near grain, it will go straight toward it, regardless of the danger. No matter how many times it falls in a trench between itself and the food, it will repeat the same action if you move it back to the start. Aiel children amuse themselves with the game.' He studied Rand. ' I had not thought you would be a meegerling, Rand al'Thor.'" This …

Bittersweet. That word seemed to be the common answer from Team Jordan as they talked about the completion of A Memory of Light. After 23 years since the first publishing of The Eye of the World in 1990, the long journey has come to a completion. Harriet McDougal, widow of the late Robert Jordan, and Brandon Sanderson, who has completed the last three books of the series with the help of notes, were joined by the other two members of Team Jordan, Maria Simons and Alan Romanczuk. While Harriet continued to edit the series as Brandon wrote it, Maria worked on continuity, and Alan worked on the great battles and commanders. The entire team was present for the Q&A and sig…

  29. On Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in Chicago, we were lucky enough to have Brandon, Harriet, and Maria come to visit us, chat, answer questions, and of course sign A Memory of Light. For so many, it was a bittersweet moment, knowing that something we have been a part of for so long is now over. That said, this was an incredibly successful, simply wonderful event, and one in which I am incredibly proud to have taken part. With this signing taking place at the beginning of the tour only the day after release, it made things more interesting in a lot of ways. Of the Memory Keepers, I was only one to have finished the book upon arrival. Some had not yet even started. The…
