  1. It has been a long time in coming but the trial is finally over and it is now your turn to decide the fate of Care Namere. She has murdered nine people with in the confines of Tar Valon and the White Tower itself. She is a distrubed woman as was clearly demonstarted through out the trial. But the closing statements will put forward for you the options that are available. The majority vote will be the result of the trial to continue in one weeks time. The full trial Please take a moment and vote, this will be a blind vote until the week has ended. - You the Jury

The subject really says it all. David Carradine, the star of "Kung Fu" and "Kill Bill" was found today in the wardrobe of his hotel room, a noose around his neck. Take what you will from this, but being a former martial artist myself it is my strong belief that David didnt kill himself. Anyway, figured I would break the news, here is a link to the story. http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/06/04/david-carradine-dies/?hpw As so many have said today, good bye grasshopper.

Recently, a certain Canadian and near-Canadian alerted me to the fact that some of you are horribly mangling my SN. So, here goes: Kivam = Kee-vam (with the "am" reading just like the word "am") I also answer to "Keev", "Kiv" (pronounced the same), "oh Lord of teh Awesome", and "hey, you!" Thanks -me ;D

  5. For June, I am giving you the chance to pick your favourite songs and why you love them! And as a result, I'm giving you the power to run things this month. TUNE OR NO TUNE As a result, for the following weeks, I will be happy to allow others to pick songs for "Tune or No Tune": - Monday 8th June 2009 - Monday 15th June 2009 - Monday 22nd June 2009 - Monday 29th June 2009 If you want to do a "Tune or No Tune", copy the format I use at DM. (link to a model thread). It needs a brief summary (I'm happy to post a generic one for those interested to use), as well as a bit about the song and why you give it the vote of Tune. Also provide a YouTube clip, a…

So I've been thinking over the last few days about how I want to say this. The idea itself is surprisingly easy to contemplate. In fact, I'm quite looking forward to it. That doesn't make it easy to say. This summer, I will be retiring from all my positions at Dragonmount. Empy has been asked, and has accepted the position of Community Admin from Jason. I believe he has selected his replacement as Org Admin, but I won't comment on that here, since I'm not sure if she's accepted yet. Once the Admins are in place, the search for the next WT Org Leader will begin. I encourage any WT member to apply for it. I can probably think of a dozen or so of you that would do an a…

I have come across your forums in the past and have thought about asking you, but never really brought it up before. Do most of you peeps here play or have played the Wheel of Time MUD? I believe the late Robert Jordan himself sanctioned it as an official wheel of time gamme, and it is GREAT fun. Also, its freeEEEEE! check it out at http://wotmud.org It's full of roleplay, magic, and exciting battles against darkfriends, shadowspawn, and even the seanchan. All controlled by real life players. If you want to play and stuff, most people are really friendly about helping out new people, and if you want you can send me a tell my two main characters go by "Leo…

Hello fellow WOT fans, I'm doing a charity event to raise money for MDA. They are doing a "lockup" where they pick us up from work with police escort to "throw us in jail". We have to raise "bail" in order to avoid the lockup. It has been set at 800 dollars. All you have to do is click here. ( https://www.joinmda.org/2009independencelu/naeann_2002 ) to make a secure, online donation before 6/24/2009. Your donation will help families living in my community and help me make my bail. Thanks in advance for your help. Don't hesitate to email or pm me with any questions. If I reach my goal I get personally escorted back to work in a limo!! Your…

I just wanted to come on here and give Sanderson kudos. I read the first Mistborn book in an effort to 'test out' Sanderson's writing to get a feel for how AMoL would turn out. I was quite pleased to find that Mistborn: The Final Empire was a really really good book. Then I got the next one and read it and it was really good as well. Then when the third one finally hit shelves, I bought it and I must say it blew the other two out of the water. It wrapped the entire trilogy up beautifully. Everything tied in together like threads of a beautiful tapestry. What a masterful work of art. Anyone who hasn't read the Mistborn trilogy, I'd definitely suggest reading …

I am recently Re-reading EoTW and i came accross at the end of chapeter 7 when Rand askes moiraine for help with his sick dad. He says "i'll pay any price in my power if you help him. Anything." and Moiraine says "We wil speak of prices later, rand, if at all" so i dont remember if she asked him to do something in repayment for her help with his father. And if not then if/when she returns what may she ask for?

I am in specific need of HTML help. I will be brutally honest with you, it's going to be boring work but it is very necessary work. We are converting are beloved book section (http://www.dragonmount.com/Books) from static pages to a CMS, so I need someone to take our pages, clean up the code and make sure the image links will work right in the new system so that when we are ready to add it to the site it's pretty much copy and paste. I have not got the exact parameters needed yet for the image links but as soon as I do I have tons of work and tons of files that need to be edited. If you'd like to help out please send me an email to matalina@gmail.com with …

Of late, I have been trying to give each month a music theme. March saw Classical Music, while April saw Terrible Music as voted by the general public. This month we are switching to the Eurovision Song Contest. Background Information For those of you who don't know (mainly those outside Europe), we Europeans have a musical contest during the month of May. It has been running for some 50+ years, and has expanded considerably over the last decade or so due to the inclusion of Eastern Europe. Each country that decides to participate that year sends a group with a song. It has gotten so large that we know have to have Semi-Finals in order to determine which countries …

  15. When I read Nights of Villjamur a few weeks back, I noted that the book was being marketed as the author's debut. However, I had noticed Mark Newton's name on another book in my local Waterstones. Some research quickly revealed that Nights is actually the author's second novel. The first, The Reef, was published last year by small UK publisher Pendragon. Having enjoyed Nights, I decided to give it a whirl. In the city of Escha, a scientist named Manolin is trapped in a difficult marriage with a demanding and paranoid wife. When his mentor and friend Santiago DeBrelt suggests an ocean trip to investigate distressing news from a scientist on the island of Arya, Manolin…

  16. Are we allowed to discuss philosophies about unpeacefull things here? Or is this like a pacifists forum? Oh, and discuss some of you favorite philosophies. heres one of mine: No where in any bible does it say that your soul and you concious self are the same thing. What is your concious self? its the part of yourself that experiences things. It says I am sitting down reading this guys rambling post on dragonmount. What are the implications of this. One is that you do not experience reality through your soul. So if you die, it might feel like the end. Ceasing to exist. You might feel like aetheists were right all along. Your soul could go to heaven, hell, or…

  18. In the year 2000, an academic named Pierce Ratcliff is putting together a fresh history of Ash, a 15th Century female mercenary captain whom mainstream history has largely ignored, but whose exploits have been of interest to a small number of historians. In preparing this new history, Radcliffe undertakes a fresh translation of the original historical texts. As he translates each chapter and sends it to his editor, they discuss the intriguing historical oddities within each chapter: references to the 'Green Christ', the 'Visigoth Empire' and 'Carthage', which of course had been destroyed many centuries before that time. But as the translations continue, very strange thing…

I wonder if anybody here watched the first semi-final of Eurovision song contest yesterday. Any opinions on it? As for the show itself, it was excellent. Russia's Channel one did their best. The fire bird was awesome. Though I'm really sick and tired of its host Andrey Malakhov. Couldn't they have chosen anybody else? On the other hand, the people whose task was to comment the show as it was aired for Belarus didn't let us hear much of what Andrey Malakhov was saying. As for the participants, Most of the songs on Eurovision are meh. Imho, the most interesting part of Eurovision is when the points are announced. I might have liked some of the performances better…

  25. Al-Rassan was the stronghold of the western Asharite faith until Ammar ibn Khairan killed the last khalif, splintering the land into feuding city-states. In the north the Jaddite kingdom of Esperana similarly splintered into three smaller nations, each harbouring a desire to conquer the others and unify the entire peninsular in the worship of the sun-god. King Ramiro of Valledo appears to be the most likely to succeed, due to the skills of his infamous general Rodrigo Belmonte and his elite company of soldiers. Political intrigue and expediency soon see both Rodrigo and Ammar exiled to Ragosa, the beautiful Asharite city by the lake, where their destinies become entwined …

I hope you take some time to check them out and hopefully get involved. "It's A Knockout" has started and will run for about 2 weeks from Wednesday 15th April 2009 as DMers and Banders determine their worst song from the 16 horrors I have nominated. Each day, a knock-out tie goes up with links to YouTube and the songs as the worst song takes its steps towards the Grand Final. All you need to do is listen and post your vote. It's that simple! 30. Note: there is an informal 'embargo', at the author's request, on reviews giving away the central 'twist' to this novel before it is released. This makes it one of the toughest reviews I've had to write. On the eastern edge of Europe lies the city of Beszel. A young American archaeology student is murdered and Inspector Tyador Borlu of the Extreme Crimes Squad is called in to investigate. At first the case appears to have been a cross-border violation between Beszel and its close neighbour of Ul Qoma, with whom it shares frosty relations, necessitating the calling in of the far better-equipped 'Breach' department to deal with the matter. When it is revealed that the …
