Man! When I think about the changes in technology just since the late 1970's. Cars. Medicine. Electronics. Drugs (legal ones, I mean). Some of it I have sort of kept up with a little. I still quite often learn of something new that just seems wonderous to me. I'll take the easy example to start this topic and leave you the harder ones. Computers. I have a teaching minor in Computer Science (no I'm not a teacher...today is my 28th anniversary as a factory rat). I completed that minor in 1990 or 1991 maybe? I don't mean to be rude, but why is it considered sexist for a man to value the safety of females over that of men. I will admit there are exceptions to every situation, but 9 times out of 10 a man is physically stronger and more capable of defending themselves than a woman. It seems silly that we view this as a matter of social value or merit, when it is in fact simply a representation of only one difference between the sexes. For thousands of years, men have cared for and protected their mothers, sisters, wives and daughters. Every man worth the air he breaths would lay his life down without thought for a woman in need. Didnt quite know where to post this, so figure Ill just post it here. This is the only thing I consider "finished" in my novel out of 6 chapters. The prologue. I know thats kind of sad, but for some reason Im never quite satisfied that I couldnt improve my work more. Well, just wanna know what you guys think. I wouldnt have even continued trying to write without the encouragement of my friends and battle buddies while I was in the Army after my initial two chapters were passed around and read by about 40 of my boyos heh. anyone else been having problems with virgin broadband recently? its been slow since virgin bought ntl, and for the past week its been slower than dial up half the time, and not working at all the rest of the time :-[ reading through internet stuff and magazines, most people on virgin are having the same problems, or worse

So I get back to my office Monday morning, check my email, and in the Spam folder is this: It's a line from the WoT prologue where Ishy shows "Bors" and other disguised Darkfriends the images of the three ta'veren. I was quite amused. ;D

As the help desk forum is locked now days, thought I'd ask this here to see if anyone can help me out. I know there's an RSS feed link for the news posted to the site, but it's not what I'm looking for. I want to know if there's a way I can pull the RSS feed onto another .php page I'm setting up to use as the default homepage for my browser. Just making my own little portal page that sill have the local weather and things like that. Thought it'd be fun to have WoT news as well. Any ideas?

Sorry to post this here, but for some reason I can't make a post in the Help Desk section. I'm noticing a distinct lack of previous and next buttons to traverse pages on these new forums. Is there some preference setting that I need to change so I can see the buttons. I appreciate being able to jump directly to a desired page by clicking on the number, but when I want to browse an entire post from beginning to end, I prefer a simple "next" button.

Ok... I am soooooooooo wanting to read some more WoT... I have read all 11 books and the prologue and it just doesnt seem like enough you know? I am now reading another book that is quite good, and I am very interested in it and all... but at the same time, I just want to read more about Rand and Perrin and Mat and so on... What exactly is the process for having one’s “ears boxed?”
