Hello everyone-- I'm looking around for a way to get that beautiful WoT game from 1999 on a windows 10 machine. I am positive an emulator for windows (7 or 8?) exists as I have played the game before on one of those two OS, but I sadly have Windows 10 and am not sure if I can get it running here. Does anyone have any leads on this?

  2. Later this month, Tor.com will be kicking off a new column devoted to reading The Wheel of Time, aptly named "Reading the Wheel of Time." He will be looking at it all through a new lens and with fresh perspective. Barrett's first steps through Randland will debut Tuesday, February 20th. To celebrate this, and encourage everyone to read along, Tor.com is giving away free ebook copies of The Eye of the World to Tor's Ebook Club members! The free copies can only be redeemed February 13…

  3. This edition of “Fantasy Review” is for The Obelisk Gate, the second novel in N. K. Jemisin’s The Broken Earth series. This book was also awarded the Hugo for Best Novel in 2017. It’s easy to see why. Synopsis: Reunited with Alabaster, Essun once again becomes the learner. He has plans—and since he is turning into a rock—it’s up to Essun to finish them. They try to make the best of things in their new comm, Castrima, but when the world is breaking down, no place is safe. Not only do they need to contend with a dwindling food supply due to the ash-filled sky, but wild animals mutate during a Season, and their evolved abilities can be devastating. When …

  4. This edition of “Fantasy Review” is for The Fifth Season, by N. K. Jemisin. This story was the winner of the 2016 Hugo for Best Novel. And it was a fantastic read! Slight spoilers follow. Synopsis: The earth is in fluctuation. Father Earth hates the humans who inhabit him, and he is constantly spewing his molten blood to their surface homes. Periods where his anger is most fierce are called Seasons, and ash clouds block out the sky for decades, if not centuries. Essun doesn’t even notice when the Season starts because she is lost in grief over the death of her son. He was murdered by Jija, his father, her husband. Jija disco…

Years ago, at least 15, there was a small fan site on the web titled "Robert Jordan's Room." What made the site memorable was the music. It could be downloaded and saved, but I no longer have a copy. If anyone remembers the site and knows if the music file still exists, please let me know.

  6. Wheel of Time Spoilers is a newish podcast (the first episode aired April 2017), so it might be under the radar for many Wheel of Time fans. The hosts, Seth and Patrick, began with personal stories of how they first started reading the series, then moved onto background information about the world of the Wheel (ie: the Age of Legends, the Breaking), then jumped into a chronological reread/discussion of The Eye of the World. They are currently on The Great Hunt, but the latest episode is a diversion from their norm; they invited Jason Denzel to talk with them. Besides sharing stories about Dragonmount's origins, Jason discusses his fan-turned-friend relations…

  7. Rafe Judkins, the writer and showrunner for a potential Wheel of Time television series sent out a tweet earlier this week showing off his worn copies of the first three novels. Many have speculated that this means Judkins is starting to work on a script for the show. Adam Whitehead sums up the current rights and details of the show on his website, stating : We are all very anxious to see the show find a home, and having a fan at the helm definitely gives me hope! If you want to keep up to date with all the latest information, you can follow Judkins on Twitter. View full news item

Welcome to the Recommended Reading thread! This thread has been designed to answer the age old question of "I've just finish tWoT series, what other series should I pick up now?". So through the recommendations of DM members, we are able to bring to you a complied list of series and stand alone novels which you might enjoy as a fan of the Wheel of Time series. The thread is listed much like your local Library; it is in alphabetical order, and is categorized by the authors last name. The list is also separated into 2 categories; Adult books, where the authors target audience is 18+, and Younge Adult, where the target audience is 18 or younger. Each author's name is…

Hi everybody, for a friend of mine, I'm looking for people who can translate English into... well, whatever language you speak, actually. Norwegian, German, Polish, any other... The goal is to translate a graphic novel series into as many languages as possible, so it can reach a larger audience. I will give you details (and the spreadsheet for the translation) if you would be interested. Thanks in advance!

I have a band. 99% of the people we play for probably have no idea where any of the song ideas come from so I thought I would post a couple of the songs here. There's some direct line theft from the books, just a couple. They aren't mean to be direct correlations but like I said, inspired by. Hope you like them.... Thanks for listening. (They're really loud) https://thetenaflyvipers.bandcamp.com/track/out-of-the-waste https://thetenaflyvipers.bandcamp.com/track/against-the-shadow If you have some please post them here, I'd love to hear it.

If this has a topic somewhere, sorry. I didn't see it. But wow. Seriously. For you Mistborn fans out there (and I know you're there!) Pick it up. Read it. Love it. :D If this is what Brandon produces when he's TAKING A BREAK FROM WRITING, then it's easy to see why I love what he does when he's really going at it. :D

Hi friends. I don’t really do charity runs or challenges but I have a cause that could really use your help. I met my friend Janet about 14 years ago while playing Diablo II with an online community (The Amazon Basin). We became quick friends, but after a short time Janet fell ill. During these many years, I have witnessed Janet endure many hardships regarding both her health and personal life, overcoming obstacle after obstacle with unwavering spirit and determination. However, her health has continued to deteriorate and while she continues to fight, she’s at the point where she desperately needs our help. Janet recently found out that her former employer has changed the…

  17. The Aspect-Emperor Book 4: The Unholy Consult When is the ending not the ending? Thirty years ago, when Scott Bakker first conceived of The Second Apocalypse, he planned to conclude it with the events that, finally, conclude this novel. Some time later he reflected that this might not be the best idea, and drafted a plan for (at least) two further novels to wrap up the saga in a different manner. Having finished The Unholy Consult - the seventh and most revelatory novel in the series to date - it is hard to say if this was a good idea or not. For those who read this series (so far comprising two sub-series, the Prince of Nothing trilogy and the Aspect-Emperor…

  21. Obviously, Jordan pulls alot from realworld religion and mythology for these books. Sometimes it's pretty cool, like how Rand is kind of a Christ figure, and theres alot of talk of rebirth and cycles and things like that. But sometimes I feel like it's a little too on the head if that makes any sense. Like how Rand has to literally "take the sword from the stone". or how tomatos and corn in the old tongue are t'mat and zemai (which is maize rearranged). like they dont even have "english" names, but the old tongue names are so close to realworld names, as if we couldnt tell from the description what it was. But then the cotton in the wise one's blouses gets a cool name…

I know that the typical Tairen is very dark. They are always described as being just a step below the Sea Folk in darkness, have dark hair, and that they rarely have light colored eyes, so I typically think of them as having complexions similar to Indians in the real world. I also know that Suian is from Tear. The thing is, Jordan always is very detailed in his descriptions of people, even people we already know the descriptions of. Id be surprised if there was a book where he didnt describe Rand's appearance. What Im trying to say is that especially with the main characters, our mental image of them is pretty set and accurate. But I dont remember Suian ever being men…

This is a very difficult question to ask, because, firstly, what counts as "Tolkien-like" will be highly subjective, and secondly, the only other Tolkien-like series I have read is WoT, which gives me little to no frame of reference. Nevertheless, I will try my best to ask. What do I mean by "Tolkien-like"? This is a bit subjective, but basically I mean a world which is earth-like but not earth, populated by different races (human and non-human, e.g. elves, trollocs, orcs, dwarves, etc.), technology comparable to that of the middle ages (i.e., bows and arrows, horses and carts, candles and lanterns, etc.), and where magic plays a central role in the plot. Oka…

  28. Hi everyone, My brother loved the WOT series and has already read it twice in the last 3-4 years. His birthday is coming up and I'd like to find him a new fantasy series to start on, in order to buy it for him. My brother is pretty particular about what he likes, so I don't want to get just any fantasy series. Thought it would be helpful to ask other fans what other fantasy series they'd HIGHLY recommend, that would be as good (is that blasphemy?) or REALLY good, for someone who went crazy for WOT. Any recommendations/pointers would be highly appreciated. And he already read the Game of Thrones series, LOTR, His Dark Materials. Thanks in advance! (: Quote MultiQuote…

I know and love this community of fellow WoT readers and fans. However, I am looking for other communities as well and Google just isn't cutting it. I am an avid Lord of the Rings fan (just finished my 20 hour marathon not too long ago) and I want to find a Lord of the Rings community that I can get along with and chat. I am also trying to find some drawings (detailed drawings) for a ring I am going to have custom made based off of one of the Rings of Power. Any recommendations?
