A Wii Rant

Featured Replies

One of the features of the annual Game Developers Conference being held this week in San Francisco is the "Game Publisher's Rant," a chance for gaming professionals to let it all hang out about their personal gripes and issues with the industry.

By far the show-stopper this year: Spore developer Chris Hecker. Here's how Hecker started his talk entitled "Fear of a Wii Planet":

"The Wii is a piece of sh*t!"" Hecker said. He went on to compare Nintendo's console to two GameCubes stuck together with duct tape. He stated the system is "severely underpowered," graphically and under the hood. According to Hecker, the Wii doesn't have the power to process things like complicated AI.

"It's not clear to me that Nintendo gives a s*** about games as an art form," Hecker continued, saying the company only cares about making "fun' games. He closed off the show by calling on Nintendo to take games seriously as an art form and to make a console that "doesn't suck arse."

Geez, Chris, tell us how you really feel.
