Olympics (specifically hockey, but anything goes?)

So I didn't realize this was a thing until I tuned into the US game this morning and found that, for the first time since 1994, I didn't recognize any of the players. How was the team selected? Top college hockey players who got wavers from their schools? That's great, and I love college hockey (more open and relatable game), but, this is a fail.

I want to cheer for the Canadian super-team vs the world, mainly because it's the only time in pop culture that Canadians have an uber-image. I want to Oveckin and his friends from the KHL play former NHL teammates; I want to see Sweden darkhouse into the finals with impeckable passing and Lindquist between the pipes. I want to see the US team try so hard, and maybe inspire more people to play and fight for ratings and relivance for the NHL.

If the NHL wants to increase viewership, the Olympics provides free advertising; want to keep watching this amazing players? Tune into your local station and watch hockey!

Sorry, that was a rant.

I grew up in places where it snowed once every few decades, so football was my sport. Wish I could relate on the hockey :(

Today I watched the Men’s Aerials skiing finals. What an absolutely insane sport, seriously. It’s like the vault in gymnastics but instead you’re strapped to skis and getting launched off a half pipe instead of a spring board. Ridiculous.
