Just wondering... Has enyone named a child after a character in the series?

Someone once posted a topic to try and find a good WoT name for his dog.

After being forced to kayak and swim in a certain lake on a frigid, rainy, windy day, I renamed it Lake Semmirhage.

I've named numerous MMORPG characters after WOT characters...but I don't really think there's any name in the books I would consider saddling a child with.

 

Rand isn't bad and neither is Perrin, most are too cumbersome though. I have a pet peeve with people who give their children really erm...different names. It bugs me that people don't seem to take time to consider that their child has to live with this name. :P

The obvious name is Mat

How about MArtin (Illianer king)

I really like the name Daighan even though she's not the best person.

Well, I named my children decades ago, and I never had a daughter, but I LOVE the name Aviendha. It's pretty, and so cool to say Av vee end da. Just cool.

i always liked the name Zarine. sounds nice, za reen

I like the name Serafelle.

I also like Bain and Aviendha from the women and I like Perrin from the men.

I'm only in the third book and already there are too many names to choose from!

I like Morgase too,but it's not for this world...

 

And then there's the translation for two names that I like but could never use:

In Dutch ''Min'' means ''less'' and some other things in that sense

And ''Rand'' means ''ledge''...that would be strange... :(

The most obvious is "Elayne". Plenty of people are named Elayne. I can't say I've named my kids after anybody... I'm 15... I don't even have a boyfriend.. ^^

Now,that I think about it,my real name sounds like it belongs in WoT..But i would not choose it.

uhmmmm i don't really have children, maybe because I'm just 16 :P

i did name my dog perrin, probably would have suited better if he was a log haired breed, it was mainly yhe whole wolves conection that made me chose it

My dog's name is Dingo... ^^

Haha, other than Elayne and Mat...I wouldn't torture my kid with a name like Nyneave...

I have just started reading about Berelain and I was instantly crazy about that name! Also,I identified with her after reading only one scene with her...

So I did a test on WoTmania.com and guess what? I'm Berelain!!!

I have thought about it actually. I love a good many of the names throughout the books. I love unusal names, I only wish my name were as cool as some of the names in the series. I would have to say that Aviendha is probably one of my favorites for a girl, and for a boy... either Perrin or Mazrim.

Beautiful name, as are many names in fantasy...but imagine the poor kid trying to learn to spell that?!

I named a WoW character after the Aiel Chief Dhearic... I would probably have no problem naming a child Dhearic or Aviendha, some of the others would give me pause though. Egwene for example, Tenobia, Else... and so on

As a matter of fact I have seriously thought about naming my child (if its a girl) Aviendha. Its my favorite name in the series, as for the male names I like Rand but wouldn't name my son that.

Wow. I was suprised to see two pages of responses to this question. Until I read them, I thought that they'd all be people who'd given their kids WoT names. Turns out, I'm the only one. My husband and I didn't want to go too over-the-top, though. Our youngest son's middle name is Therin.

What a cool middle name! I never thought of using fantasy names as middle names...great idea!!
