Has anyone played this?

Monster Hunter: World released on PC earlier last month, and I have been eyeing it. Never played any of the prior Monster Hunter games, so I fear I might get bored of it and thus waste $60.

Exactly what happened to my friend.

He saw the E3 trailer and got hyped, bought the game when it came out, played for like 2 weeks (or less?) and dropped it.

My rec is unless you already know you like MH or you want to make it the only game you play for awhile, don't get it.

The he thing that made me really enjoy Peter Jackson’s LOTR was that despite the departures from the books the story was told in the same tone as the novels and so it still felt like LOTR Same went for Game of Thrones, the books had a darker tone and thus so did the show so it felt like the same world and the same story. WOT by contrast just does not have the same tone as the books. It feels like they are trying to tell the story of WOT in the tone of GOT and it just feels off
