Talk!

 

Yesterday we had a community dinner and study at my synagogue. 

 

This morning we got up and went to an SCA event with a feast, Arts & Sciences & games.

 

Thinking of some Persian garb at the moment. I like pants.

Persian garb is fun! Yesterday I taught a class at a local canton's marshallate themed classes event. (Mine was on cool things fighters could do with their heraldry that look awesome and help with 'branding' yourself/getting consistently recognized. ? As I am not much of a martial combatant). It was a very fun little event though. 

That sounds like fun, both of you. 

 

I'm just spending my summer enjoying my new job, but not being out in the field in this heat and the heat to come. I'm also enjoying the break from school and getting cleaning/reorganizing done so I can make room to share my space with my boyfriend. We want him to move in here, but I have no room at present. 20 years of collecting things adds up. Goodwill is liking me these days.

If that skill is 'collecting information in one place to share with people' than yes. ? Thankfully people were willing to provide physical examples of things they have done with their heraldry (garb, painted shields, banners, etc.) because I am not good at making 'all' the things. Just some of the things!

Two weekends now, I've been painting and caulking and scrubbing the kitchen.

well it's the first day of shorts and a tank top. 101 last i checked

We're having a brutal week of 108 degrees. Sadly, it will get worse before it gets better. 

We are finally drying out here! I say, looking at the expectation of more thunderstorms and severe weather on Saturday. But we've had almost a whole week of beautiful sunshine and unusually cool weather (for June). This week our highs are gonna top out at 91. 

At least most of the flooding is going down and folks are getting to repair damage. 

I've been working on house projects. This week, I touched up the stain on 'alllll' of the wooden cabinets in my kitchen, and the doors and trim in the hallway. Now I'm working on the stairs. (I love my cats, but I do wish they'd just walk down them rather than launch off the sides). 

Hot. Hot. Hot.

Weird. Here in north Texas, I don't think we've hit 95 F yet, and we've usually broken 100 degrees by this time.

 

My weather app says to expect rain every day for the next five days.

 

Weird.

I’m working on organizing. Leaving on vacation on Tuesday and will be back Sunday.

 

 

We had a nice Father’s Day. Anyone else?

I did. Got a call from my son. Got breakfast tacos. Got a nap.

Father's Day is hard for me. But I did get some nice comforting hugs at church when I teared up.

We did. ? It was a nice and mellow evening. We ordered in Chinese Food (because getting into a restaurant in our town on Father's Day is a nightmare and no fun for anyone), and watched Iron Man. Our son wasn't old enough to watch it when it came out and so came into the MCU about half-way through, but Iron Man was his favorite character by the end. So it was an easy everyone-likes-it family choice.

After my wife and I saw the latest Avengers, she came up with the idea of watching all eighteen-or-so MCU movies in order. We just finished Iron Man 3.

 

Captain America is my favorite, personally, because I admire his character in the first movie. It saddened me a bit to see him become an insurgent, but I suppose it was inevitable given his moral code versus Fury's pragmatism.
