sorry. CG = Computer Game.

the thing i love about starcraft is there are so many levels to it. some like the story line. some like the art. some like the gameplay-style. & some like the online community. & some like to play casually & some seriously.

it's a classic. come on.

I love the starcraft universe. I still play the game from time to time. Usually I set myself up a game to play terrans vs 7 Zerg

If you haven't done so, read Liberty's Crusade. It is a good book that includes the plot from the game which I thought was nicely done.

is Liberty's Crusade the one about the reporter following all the major chars in the game? good book, i actually own it :P

Certainly an essential PC game, up there with Half-Life, Far Cry, Company of Heroes, Freespace 2 and the Total War series. The final level of Brood War still makes me weep in frustration at how hard it is.

Mercifully, there has been some movement on the StarCraft 2 front recently. After nearly a decade of saying, "Yeah, we'll do it one day," and working on that dubious FPS StarCraft game that got cancelled, one of Blizzard's reps recently said he hopes it won't be ten years without a StarCraft game, meaning they want to do something before May 2008. Given that a Blizzard game typically takes 3-4 years to develop, I'm guessing he means that StarCraft 2 will be announced before May 2008, and will come out in 2010-2012 or thereabouts. I think that they've probably shied away from doing a sequel because the original is so damn perfect.

i heard about that as well ^ & i believe there's still heavy speculation about the future of StarCraft: Ghost. (meaning people seemed to think the comment might refer to Ghost being rekindled.) the trailors for that are still accessible on YouTube. i was so distraught when i learned it was cancelled because the trailor made me laugh & still does.

but Blizzard needs to return to the StarCraft universe & will. whatever mess they end up making or not, it's money in the bank because people will want to check it out. the hype is still there, i think. & they're doing the right thing shying away from the sequel anyways.

as for the game play itself, i don't think it's particularly challenging to work through the game's storyline. most of the challenge comes because the enemy forces are made so expansive. that final BW campaign amused me, i must say. i kept laughing because they kept attacking me. (er, don't ask why. i think i just like seeing creeps spawn) my brother is a skilled player; i'm more into the storyline & universe, but i keep in touch with the strategy side of things through him. the AI is amazing, but you really do need to start 7 vs. 1 after a while. or flip to battle.net.

I would love to see a Starcraft 2 or even a World of Starcraft.

And Yes Liberty's Crusade is the book of the reporter following the main characters.

even a World of Starcraft.

*laughs* ... nice. i would reply they already used this card & say i'd be annoyed if they released that - but i'd take it still.

that youtube vid for Ghost rocks :D would be cool to see a starcraft movie like that

and yeah, i think many people would love for there to be a starcraft 2

Starcraft spawned the phrase "Zerg Rush" or "Zergling Rush" in everyday text, what has Supreme Commander given society today? :P

Not to mention "The Twelve Days of Christmas (StarCraft Style)"

*begins to sing*

"and a bra-and ne-ew SCVVVVVVVVVVVVV!"

Ready for Duty, Sir!

lolol Nah, I was just playin. SupCom and Starcraft can't really be compared to each other simply because they're from different time periods, and they're really two completely different genres of RTS's. I just think it's funny because there are TONS of trollers on various forums saying crap like "Stracraft > SupCom. End of discussion kthxbai" and things of the sort. :P

Ready for Duty' date=' Sir![/quote']

i thought it was "reporting for duty, sir!" but i could be wrong. nicely done.

& chris - there's always people like this. it's a good thing DM brings them all to shame & there's no one so silly here! *hides her alternate membership to another forum where she's made the exact post chris quoted from*

Starcraft? I play on B.Net U.S. East quite regularly, account name is Barf02, give me a shout if you see me on there.

i will be certain to do that, in the form of one of those die-hard SVC rushes that create so much desctruction. you watch your outposts carefully. i track pretty silent until i wanna be heard.

we will have to do a Seanchan Starcraft night.

also it may be reporting for duty. I need to play again.

you do at that.

& we should create our own DM channel ;) do the group thing & go nuts. unfortunately i believe in only playing with good players. (i'm kidding; don't all attack me at once.)

BGH? you have to clarify; the popular maps change every week.

i actually don't know. i was on mostly during the whole LOTR craze. which was quite a while back, it seems like.

LOTR? Battle for Middle Earth?
