Would you like a tainted brownie or two? Tell us all about yourself. Are you a new or old wot reader? Do you have any favourite characters? Favourite asha’mans? Is black your favourite colour?

Sorry Niniel to take so long to reply, still learning to navigate the site.
Im a 59yo Life time Fantasy and Sci Fi fan, Australian Male. Started to read the books in the 90s, but no idea what year. So had all the fun of waiting for the next book, got a bit frustrated through the slog, got worried after RJs untimely passing, especially having gone through the same experience in the late 80s when Frank Herbert passed away and left the Dune series incomplete, but Sanderson thankfully done a superb job.
Other Fantasy Authors I’ve loved include, Katherine Kerr(Deverry cycle), Raymond e Feist(Riftwar), David Eddings(Belgariad, Elenium), Tolkien, trying to get into The Way of Kings, but haven’t fallen in love with it yet.
I named myself after the Asha’man, dedicated Morly Hardlin, and yes i know i managed to misspell his last name.

Androl is my fav Asha’man, absolutely loved his moment in the Black Tower of MOM. Huge Mat fan, thought what Rand said about him in MOM was perfect, loved Loail but disappointed he went missing at times, thought his story was underdone at times.

If you're struggling with tWoK might I suggest reading some of his earlier works first? Warbreaker is usually recommended to be read before or in the middle of Stormlight, and it's his second work and a lot shorter.

I agree that Loial didn’t get enough time on page. He is one of my favourite characters. I would have loved more interaction between the randland ogier and the seanchan ogier.

The series written by Katherine Kerr, is that the one where people get reborn in different timelines? It’s been a long time since I read it. I loved it at first but stopped reading it when my favourite characters died.

Yes that sounds like the Deverry cycle, do agree a bit, the original trilogy was superb, after that it went off course a bit. About a 3rd of each book was a flashback over a period of about 400 years.

I have seven books in my bookshelf so I guess that is how far I read it.

Welcome to the Black Tower. (Sets out Brownies.)

Besides Tolkien, Feist was my introduction to fantasy. And so glad I made my way to Jordan.

Yes Feist was an early one for me to, preferred the early books to the later, loved the idea of the Hallway to other worlds and the Dragon Lords.
