Hello, I am just starting to read the books as I found my brother owned them all and I was out of reading material. I started with new spring as it had no book number so I thought this was the first book, im on page 194 and found out its the prequel (which I should have noticed earlier as some things I don't understand) should I keep reading the book or stop and read the first?

Stop.  Read The Eye of the World first.  Don't pick New Spring back up until at least after book 5, preferably after book 10, i.e., publication order.  There are some spoilers in the prequel, but mostly, you'll just be a bit lost.  And some of the mystery of tEotW will be lost as well.
