Aimless needs a new name. Why? Because I shameless stole that name from another, funnier site. Thats fine on a temp site, but I'd rather have something original here. So since you are all much, much smarter than I am, I leave it to you, dear members, to devise the new name.

 

The philosophy behind Aimless Rambling is this: Every forum has a tension between those members who want directed, focused discussion, and those who want to post for the sheer joy of posting. Its not quality that counts for them, just the pleasure of seeing their name pop up on a forum. I make no moral judgements, because I too experience that joy. I also experience the annoyance of being absent from a forum for a few hours and finding it completely overrun by incomprehensible (to me) silliness. So to attempt to relieve this tension, we have a board set aside for those who want to post until their fingers bleed and for mods to throw threads that started off with lots of promise, but denigernated into drivel (Debates and Discussions, I'm looking at you).

 

Sooo... Any ideas?

Well, I've set up several boards that have had a forum like this. Just to keep the spamming from running over to other forums. :)

 

Possible Names:

 

Spammers Anonymous (I love this one...)

Creativity Corner

Writers Escape

The Game House (play of words off of the Game of Houses)

Sa Souvraya Niende ("Lost in my mind" Old Tongue)

 

I can probably come up with more, but these are just the ones that I got off the top of my head. :D

May I remind you that we lost our mod-status on the temp-boards when they got hacked.

 

And we haven't recieved mod-rights here yet, so atm it's not our responsibility...

I hated it even before the old site went down. Too many people shrieking, not enough actual debate. I don't blame you guys, I blame the shriekers. There's only so many times you can tell people to shut up before you wear out. =)

Spam In a Can. Edible, yet poisonously disgusting. Or fun. Poison and fun get jumbled up a lot....

I was avoiding the word spam a little because you said you borrowed the other name and was looking for something more original, but anything with the word "spam" in it would be perfect for the group of spamming miscreants we have... hehehehe... mischief.gif

At risk of being cajoled for using the word spam in the title I offer this:

How about:

 

"Where Brains Go to Die"? *grins* Or maybe "Threads," instead? Alternately, what about "The Boards that Time Forgot"? "Attack of the Killer Threads"? "Rambles from Planet Randland"?

It doesn't exist yet. I do believe that they're looking for a new name before they put it up. It would be a bit of a hastle to chage the name after it's up. I know that one from experience. :D

What about Dragon Dribble?

We're looking to rename it, and find a gaggle of moderators for it. PLEASE, don't fill this thread with "I wanna be a moderator."
