I'm going through A Knife of Dreams, and recently passed a Faile chapter, where she witness a conversation between Therava and Sevanna. Therava said something that confused me. "Couladin is the Car'a'carn. Rand al'Thor is a creation of Aes Sedai." and it sounded she believes that.

 

I mean, she is a true Wise One. She knows all the prophecies, born from the blood, raised elsewhere and all of that. Was she lying her ass to Sevanna, or did she actually believe that? Because it makes no sense to me. 

she probably believed it, or close enough. i don't think she'd have gone rogue with the shaido otherwise.

rand appeared in the waste with 2 aes sedai (as far as the aiel knew). aes sedai have strange knowledge, so assuming that rand was instructed by aes sedai was not a stretch.

as for couladin, maybe she assumes he lied to everyone to avoid spreading the secret of rhuidean. or maybe she had doubts on couladin too, but just couldn't follow rand.

We all find it hard to face the truth.

Sometimes the truth is more palatable than lying to ourselves about reality. Other times, hiding from the truth is easier.
