  • Huh. It’s almost like a couple people bitching on a single forum aren’t representative of millions of fans around the world. I had no idea! ??‍♀️

  • Ok maybe let’s look at this another way, what if Rafe is right, what if Brandon and Harriet did tell Rafe that RJ really wanted to change some things in the early books? It wouldn’t be the first time

  • So I don’t think that last statement is *wrong*. But the details the show has chosen to emphasize are different than what we as readers emphasize when we read. Rather than trying to recreate everythin

According to Jon from WotUp he has a source that seems to indicate that

Spoiler

Faile may show up in season 2 despite what Marcus and Rafe indicated at Comic Con last year.

As with all non confirmed rumors please take it with a grain of salt.

Given that Jon is one of the most well-connected and well-respected members of the WoT fandom community and has a fairly impeccable track record of correctly sourcing spoilers and BtS info, there's not really any reason not to trust what he's saying.

Given that Jon said Faile may show up, he didn't really say anything.  Maybe so or maybe no...

Even in his video, he said take it with a grain of salt. (1:20).

Imagine being trusted so much that even when you say to take what you say with a grain of salt you are trusted beyond a shadow of a doubt hehe

I wasn't aware that Jon himself had said to take his latest scoop with a grain of salt. 😀

Interview Marcus Rutherford

https://www.leftlion.co.uk/read/2023/february/marcus-rutherford

Highlights of the interview

  • a time jump between seasons

  • the main characters less naive, more jaded and dark

  • a big jump in writing and visual effects this season (don't know if it was the interviewer or Marcus who said that)

I suspect the time jump will allow for Nynaeve and Egwene to start in Tar'Valon, maybe Rand in Cairhien?

As long as he didn't mention portal stones...

more dark? I agree with sanderson, they are pushing too hard on the "dark" stuff.

still no news on when it could come out? last we knew it was end of 2022-beginning of 2023, and obviously none of them materialized. so i'm now hoping we'll get a trailer any day

Current thought is possibly June as Amazon has an opening in their broadcast line up.  But this is just speculation at this point.

WoT is pretty dark when you visualize it. We'll see if they go overboard too soon. I'm hoping for an early summer release.

They brought in the sexy parts faster than the books.  Not surprised the darkness hits early too.

I'm guessing 3rd quarter of this year (July - Sept).

Dang.  Closing in on two years.  Fine for movies, but a long stretch for TV.

Maybe Rand has time to learn how to use a sword?

Considering that he barely knew how to use a sword until book 2 it should line up well.

Sounds like the character development will be done off screen.

That interview does not give me a lot of hope that the 2nd season is going to be a improvement.

Perhaps so.

But what will Nynaeve and Egwene learn in this time?  They already can destroy trolloc armies and heal better than fully trained Sisters.  Maybe they learn to pass a ball of light back and forth or clean stains from clothing...

Well considering neither of them actually did the weaves for destroying the Trolloc army, I'd say they still have a bit to learn.

Interesting how you can take a few simple statements and immediately assume the worst.

Or take a few simple statements and assume the best.  We can be hopeful or pessimistic, but in the end only the final product will tell if the decisions were executed well.  Personally, whichever works for me.  We're just entertaining ourselves with guesses until S2 is released.

There is very little reason to assume much of anything, postive or negative, based on what was said in the interview.

"There is a time jump".  Well there are 2 time jumps in the 2nd book and 1 in the third so this isn't surprising news.  It will be interesting to see how long they will have the time jump be what what will happen in that time.

"Characters will be less naive and more jaded/Dark"  That describes both Perrin and Rand's journey in the next two books. We'll see how they adapt it.
