NASCAR Week 5: Texas Motor Speedway

Featured Replies

Posted

Hello and welcome to NASCAR week 5! This week, we're at Texas Motor Speedway with Kasey Kahne on the pole and a rookie starting second. Texas is known for long stretches between cautions and fast speeds. It's not a restricter plate, so they all stretch out.

By the way, President Bush is giving the order to start engines via video tape. *grins* Gotta love it when NASCAR's infected everything, all the way to the top. Bush fell in love with NASCAR at the Daytona500 in 2004. Spread the love, Mr. President!

This week's matchups are:

Kyn

#20 TOny Stewart (defending NASCAR champ)

#24 Jeff Gordon (who's never won at Texas)

#48 Jimmy Johnson

vs

Hero

#38 Elliot Sadler

Lor

#16 Greg Biffle (last year's winner)

Bad news for Hero, looks like Vickers has engine problems. He's in the garage, but from the sound of it, he's done for the day.

Bad new for Kyn, Gordon's steadily going backwards. He started 11th, he's now 13th.

Good news for Lor, Biffle's leading already and it putting a good bit of distance between him and the rest of the field. Let's hope his car doesn't fall apart around him again... *crosses her fingers and hopes*

Good news for Kyn, Stewart started 40th, but he's moving up with a bullet. In a dozen laps, he's made his way to 27th!

At the moment, the points are:

Dae- 10 (Kasey on the pole & leading a lap)

Lor-5 (Biffle leading)

Mo- 5 (Mark lead a few laps before giving it to Greg)

Kyle Bush is the lucky dog (got back on the lead lap due to the caution) as half of a spring rubber on the track brings out the 1st caution of the day.

Most of the lead lap cars come in for a second pit stop (6 laps after the last one, *shakes her head*)

someone put Kurt Bush in the @#$(&@#% wall!!!!

OK, caution flag is waiving, Jeff Gordon gets the lucky dog pass and is now on the lead lap again. He's on pit road, a "end of the lead lap" penalty, but he was going to have to do that anyway with his lucky dog pass, so he didn't lose anything.

89 laps down out of 334, 501 miles here at Texas (everything's bigger in Texas, so they add a mile to the Texas track ;) ).

Kurt Bush is black flagged. (*dances around and cheers*) Here's hoping it's blown all to hell. That's what you get for knocking a good driver into the wall. What goes around comes around. Now, he's 41st and 3 laps down. Take that you like skunk. *mutters*

  • Author

Carl Edwards to 4th. Not doing Kyn any good sitting on the bench, though. ;)

Kurt Bush's car is behind the wall. He hasn't been taken out, yet, but here's hoping it's just a matter of time. Sorry, Dae, but he's on my hit list now.

  • Author

Jr's doing better. I'll take. Anything's better than last year. Hey, there, Staffy. :)

Ok, Tony's winning my award for the funniest commercial. I love that last Home Depot commercial. "We could tear it down, rebuild it..." *laughs* the look on Tony's face was PRICELESS!

Alright, we should be coming back to the green in a second, funny how a little tire can create a 10 lap caution, isn't it? ;)

  • Author

Rookie Denny Hamlin just took the lead. I told ya'll to watch that one. He'll be Rookie of the Hear this year unless Yeley has anything to say about it. He just went from last place (where he started thanks to an engine change) to first.

More debris brings the yellow flag out again at lap 160.

Kenseth gets across the line in front of Hamlin, so 5 pts to Twinny. I'll update the line up when they get through pit stops.

I don't get the car-chase thing. We see that on TV here in L.A. all the time, I don't want to watch it for sport.

But, where the heck is Kyn? I miss his Oh-so-succint contributions to the general hilarity!

  • Author

Just 4. This is Texas, not usually as many cautions here as, say, Bristol which looks more like a bumper car derby. LOL

One wreck and three debris cautions. :)

Line up after the restart:

#24 Jeff Gordon -15th

#42 Casey Mears 16th

Lor

#8 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. - 14th

#5 Kyle Bush - 3rd

vs.

Dae

#12 Ryan Newman -24th

#9 Kasey Kahne -14th

#2 Kurt Bush 41st

Twinny

Alright, I like this Lowe's commercial, too.

"I found a great line over by hardware."

*laughs*

Sorry, I love people who pick on themselves. That's all these commercials, too. There's a Subway commercial for Greg Biffle that says "How does Greg Biffle do it, week after week?" Then they show him on a road coarse kicking everyone's butt last year, with a subway sandwich dangling in front of his windshield like a carrot. LOL Love that commercial...

  • Author

McMurray is out at the moment. They're working on it, hopefully he'll be out again and geting some points.

JJ Yeley is in the wall, 5th caution out at lap 190.

  • Author

Dale Jarrett is the lucky dog this caution, he's now back on the lead lap and will start at the tail end of the longest line after the pit stops.

Here's the line-up coming off pit road:

Kyn

#20 Tony Stewart -6th

#24 Jeff Gordon -13th

#48 Jimmy Johnson -24th

vs

Hero

#38 Elliot Sadler -21st

#25 Brian Vickers -43rd (out)

#42 Casey Mears 19th

Lor

#16 Greg Biffle -42nd (out)

#8 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. - 14th

#5 Kyle Bush - 8th

vs.

Dae

#12 Ryan Newman -18th

#9 Kasey Kahne -5th

#2 Kurt Bush 41st (46 Laps down)

Twinny

#45 Kyle Petty 25th

#17 Matt Kenseth 2nd

#55 Michael Waltrip 27th

vs.

Mo

#6 Mark Martin - 7th

#26 Jamie McMurray 40th (24 laps down-still behind the wall)

#29 Kevin Harvick - 4th

Kyle Bush called back into the pits thanks to a little "future debris" hanging off the back quarter panel. :)

  • Author

3 rookies in the top 10 as the green flag drops with 140 laps to go, 22 cars on the lead lap, #22 being Dale Jarrett.

  • Author

2nd Caution is out, Newman in the wall. Sorry Dae, he's packing it up and his crew chief is off the box.

*shakes her head and sighs*

  • Author

Kyle Petty is the lucky dog this caution, in 22nd place, 130 laps to go!
