Arguments for Thom vs. Jaskier 

 

(Be respectful/keep it civil please. This is all for good fun.) How do they compare? Which on screen iteration is better so far?

It is a smidge early for the comparison.

 

That and Jaskier had a longer screen time sofar and a banger of a song.

 

Though the Owen speech has raised our Thom a bit at this point. Still behind but not as far as before lol.

Thom is more interesting and feels more .....  real?

Jaskier is amusing but he feels like an actor playing a role to me.

 

Maybe the difference is that I'd watch a show built around Thom's character whereas I don't see there is enough there to even conceive of a show for Jaskier.

 

Jaskier is young and full of life. Thom is cynical and full of warnings.

 

It's like a lvl 5 Bard vs a lvl 20 who's seen some things.

I like Toss a Coin to Your Witcher, but that line about an “elf on a shelf” kinda torpedoed the song for me. It was such a bad line…haha.

He probably saw my 4e Druid. Flying into battle on top of a bear shooting lasers with its eyes weaving within three tornados spawned by elemental giants.

Now, I'm picturing the Thom show as an 80's TV show with a bit of Roadhouse, Smokey and the Bandit, Hardcastle and McCormick, and a few other shows/movies from that era mixed in.  ?

If I hadn't read the books, I'd probably say Jaskier at this point. We haven't had much time to get too emotionally invested in Thom.

Fair assessment. We may have to update this at end of the season. I hope Thom shreds in Cairhien/ I hope they don’t cut that haha. 

Strictly by musical chops, I much prefer Jaskier.  I really hope Thom can sing better than what they displayed so far.  Toss a coin to your witcher was also a viral song, so hard to beat.

Yes. Both. There is no battle. You don't pick between The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. You accept both are amazing.

I haven't seen The Witcher, but I think Thom should have started his set with Hero of Canton

 

 

From what we have SEEN so far... Jaskier blows Thom so far out of the water it isnt even a contest. Hopefully that changes but at this point, Thom's one song was like something out of a bad karaoke night.

Alas I do not believe there is such a thing as a bad karaoke night.   In any case everyone knows that karaoke does not involve playing an instrument  - if you said bad open mic night, then that would be more understandable, even if not everyone would agree since music taste is subjective.

 Well, his instrument playing was almost as bad as his singing. He just strummed a few chords here and there. But, yeah I get your point.. bad open mic night, no cover.

Toss a coin to your witcher has much better covers.  When someone covers does a Thom cover better than this witcher cover, let me know.

Jaskier is ... more annoying than Thom.

 

But Thom can sing. No doubt about that. Jaskier sounds young of course, but I love that you can hear Thom's age and feelings. Or at least I can.

 

Don't make me choose. Maybe they can duet?

Also "Toss a Coin to your Witcher" being a viral song does not mean that the bard singing it is the better bard.

 

They just get a better song.

 

Not an argument for Thom or anything - just that the BEST versions of TaCtyW have been youtube covers ?
