Paramount Pictures has revealed the "Mark 1" armor from Marvel Studios' Iron Man, directed by Jon Favreau and coming to theaters on May 2, 2008. The comic book adaptation stars Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges, Shaun Toub and Leslie Bibb.

Your link is broken, but I saw it yesterday on SHH!, and it looks wicked. An awesome interp of the original armor.

The new suit....

Yeah I am sure it will be.

If I had to guesss, we won't see the new suit until the end of the film. I bet this movie moves like Batman Begins and is all about the making of Iron Man...

No, I am sure it will be about how he becomes Iron Man, creating the suit and battling some personal demons as well as the most popular villian to Iron Man.

According to this excerpt, I would redact my last statement and say he will wear the suit more often:

'Robert was very bullish on wearing the suit whenever possible,'' says Favreau of his star, who bulked up for the role. ''Now I don't know if he's such a fan of that idea.''

Oh that suit is very much real, my friends. Stan Winston's people built it and Robert Downey Jr. is wearing it RIGHT NOW. Even if the movie turns out to be a complete flaming wreck, Favreau gets major geek points for nailing the visual.

this is a comic book movie that did grab my attention. if for nothing else, like you said reyler, for the visuals. that suit is as perfect as you can get really, for a reproduction. interested to see what they do with this.

and while i never would have pictured robert downey jr. as a super hero, if he's gonna be one, iron man would be it.

so who is the villain? rumor circulating was that the Mandarin was going to be the villain.

Actually I thought that is what I heard. I will get right on that...

From Comic-con 06:

Talking about the feel of the armor, Favreau stated, "There is a sort of Robocop-like quality this character could have; I like the weight and mass and power," adding that this Iron Man would never be about martial arts "Power Rangers" moves, and instead all about heavy metal and heavy weapons.

Favreau described the storyline as a combination of James Bond and a Tom Clancy novel, deeply embroiled in the geopolitical issues of our time. Since he sees the project as a number of films, he has opted to incorporate the "demon in a bottle" alcoholism storyline in future films after the character has been introduced and developed.

Finally, Favreau revealed that the villain that Iron Man will face in the film is the Mandarin. He also hinted that he might reprise his Daredevil role of lawyer Foggy Nelson for this film. The movie will be the first released by the newly-formed Marvel Studios, and it is set to hit theaters in May, 2008. Stay tuned to IGN FilmForce for more updates on this and other Marvel films.

Meh. I never really got into comic books. So while I do enjoy a good superhero movie, I must admit that I've never been able to get psyched up about them prior to seeing it (as I did for LotR and as I am doing now for Transformers).

Still, Robert Downey, Jr., as a superhero certainly sounds entertaining.
