I am looking forward to this spin-off.... love a focus on a bad guy.

Variety is reporting that David Goyer will direct Magneto, the "X-Men" spinoff in development from 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios that centers on the villain played in the original trilogy by Ian McKellen.

After the first three "X-Men" films grossed more than $1 billion worldwide, Fox and Marvel hatched the spinoff program. Magneto will be the second such movie to go into production. First up is Wolverine, a David Benioff-scripted film that will star Hugh Jackman as the steel-clawed mutant; Fox and Marvel will set a director shortly on that pic.

As good as it has the potential to be.. *sigh* I'm really not up for a spin-off. And it's not like those have the greatest track record thus far anyway (Elektra, anyone?)

Wolverine rocks. can't wait to see it. and i think a movie on Magnet's background would be really interesting. see what made him the man he became

Well, we already know his beginnings. What we don't know is point A to Point C. (well we do if you read the comics, but not the movie version!) Like, Xaviers brother the Jugernaut, isn't actually a mutant, thusly the kid with anti-mutant powers shouldn't have affected him. + they didn't even acknowledge they were related, so obviously X-Men as a whole, is a spin off of the comics.)

Hell Magneto could be a movie After x-3, like Wolverine most likely is?

Otherwise a movie of wolverine lost in canada for 30 years could get boring. :P
