And lest we forget, property is actually considered to be better than free men and women of lower classes.

In any case mat has been raised to the blood (i think)... or at least property.  The fact the he is involved w/tuon gives him incredible authority.  But more importantly,  tuon received prophecy during her voyage over and part of that involved loving a man who remembered hawkwing.  I think a person who directly remembers conversations or whatever w/the great hawkwing has enough in his pocket for political leverage--not to mention his taverenistic pull at luck.  The very likelyhood that a farmboy foreigner could be declared emperor sounds like excellent odds if mat is the one rolling the dice.

the prophesy was tuon would marry the man who knew hawkwings face. having blown the horn, matt meets this criteria.

Mat's own meeting with Hawkwing after sounding the Horn is likely the more important of the two.  That particular memory, the first Hawkwing memory Mat every had, is his very own.  The other memories belong to different people and thus are not truly Mat's.
