The YouTube channel “Unraveling the Pattern” did a shot-by-shot analysis. He lightened up that scene and gave it a little color.

It’s obviously the Emond’s Field 5. But the second from the left is farther back and hard to make out. Could be Min. Could be Lan. Looks like Moggy to me.

I'm wondering if it's actually just the original forsaken.  It seems in this version of the story there are only 8 instead of 13.  Last season, they played with the idea that the forsaken were a shadow version of the main characters in this age.  This plays up the angle that it's all about the choices you make.

so, considering all the complains whenever a girl saves a boy and it's not in the book, I was expecting this role reversal would be met more favorably

  • I don't know if they can pull it off with either the actors or their stunt doubles, but it would be amazing to have that scene done with the same technical quality as the scene with Tigraine in S1.

It’s not.

Hell yeah.  I'll tune in for that even if nothing else.  But the fight choreography has to be there.

Looks like we're starting off with everyone back in Tar Valon, even saw Min all dressed up as her namesake.

Mats duel could be good gun though I doubt it'll be as flashy as the blood snow, if I remember right it didn't last long..

I wonder what other book 3 tower plots we'll get for him..?

  • A proper healing and getting rid of the dagger no one wants him to have.
  • Fever Las Vages and introduction to the dice,
  • Assassination attempt
  • Visiting North Harbour and being denied, poor dude really thought it'd work out too.
  • Meeting Thom and eating all the frigging chicken!
  • Trying to chat up Lanfear.

I think we'll likely get some of those, feels like we'll be in Tar Valon for a couple of episodes.

i wonder if they keep gawyn and galad or if they join them as a single character, as was speculated. the mat fight could work regardless - after all, gawyn went out cold immediately and it was just mat vs galad afterwards.

and i wonder if thom merrilin has come back, or if they ended up cutting him from the story - hopefully not, but they could have been forced to do it for reasons outside of their control

I believe WoT series said that Alexandre Willaume was returning for season 3.  Hopefully in a larger role as I really enjoyed his performance in season 1.

I don't know if Gawyn's actor has been leaked or not so I don't know if they haven't combined him with Galad.  I know that the actor for Galad's CV reports his character as Galad Trakand,.  Whether that is to streamline his character or because maybe they did combine characters I don't know.

But I believe there was a leaked audition scrip with Gawyns name so who knows!

Considering the attention to detail that we've seen so far, there's a good chance they just thought that was Galad's last name.

Still cant believe they did not use Rand walking out of Rhuiedan carrying Moraine as the S3 poster.

Such a better visual plus awesome for the fans to see He who comes with the dawn.

That is literally what the poster is. What are you talking about?

No Rhuiedan

He is walking downhill. So wrong direction

No fog covered city.

No one waiting for him.

Not sure how you think this is showing he who comes with the dawn leaving Rhuiedan

The Visual of the city in the fog with Rand emerging from the sunrise striding to the waiting Aiel leaders is just simply a far more powerful one.

We know from the trailer that Rhuidean is right behind him and that the Aiel are waiting ahead of him.

This stark image of Rand and Moiraine is far more powerful than one loaded up with people and things many viewers do not yet understand.

Rubbish, pause the trailer at the 1 second mark and you can clearly see the massive differences between the shots. There is no way those 2 shots are at the same location.

You can argue that the other shot is better if you want but I will heavily disagree with you and I don't see the problem with giving the book fans an iconic shot to get excited about.

Both shots have mountains in the background, spears on the ground and sun shining from the same direction.

Look at the distance to the sand dunes in the background. No way that the city fits in shot 1.

Look at the ground, one is hard and rocky the other is a desert.

Both shots do not have mountains in the background one has sand dunes.

If the shots are from around the same area, I think Rhuidean is on the left side of Shot 1.

I think shot 1 is located downhill from Shot 2. I could be way off though because the hill looks pretty steep and shot 1 is on even ground. Maybe shot 1 is just some way to either side where it's more even.

I think there are some mountains on the left side of shot 1. Lots of dunes on the rest of it.
