Never mind the clips of casually having the Horn out and about as it seemed.

Remember though, Jordan established that there were fake Horns of Valere floating around all the time, so this isn't a huge problem for me. And I can definitely see Mat bragging about it to the ladies.

There is no evidence (that I know of) that that is what this season will be about.

This is the official Amazon summary for Season 3:

Quote

After the events of the second season, when Rand (Josha Stradowski) defeats Ishamael (Fares Fares), the most powerful servant of the Dark One, the threats against the Light are multiplying: The White Tower stands divided, the Black Ajah run free, old enemies return to the Two Rivers, and the remaining Forsaken are in hot pursuit of the Dragon … including Lanfear (Natasha O’Keeffe), whose relationship with Rand will mark a crucial choice between Light and Dark for them both. As the ties to his past begin to unravel, and his corrupted power grows stronger, Rand becomes increasingly unrecognizable to his closest allies, Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and Egwene (Madeleine Madden). These powerful women, who started the series as teacher and student, must now work together to prevent the Dragon from turning to the Dark …no matter the cost.

This is a big reason that I'm reading these scenes the way I am. And it makes more sense than it being about Elayne for another reason: Elayne and Rand aren't going to be together much. Rand will be headed to the Waste, Elayne to Tanchico, so there will be precious little time for them to interact.

On the other hand, Egwene will be learning the Dream with the Wise Ones. We know Lanfear loves T'a'R and manipulates Rand there. We know she looks directly at someone while she's mooching Rand on the rocks. And Rand has an already established relationship with Lanfear

Spoiler

that will extend to the very final scene of the Last Battle (if it goes that far)

Creating the seed that Rand might choose Lanfear out of love would be a really smart choice to make in setting up for the remaining seasons.

Having Rand fall in love with Elayne immediately would be 'book accurate', but would bring more of a Twilight love triangle feel to things. I just don't think that's what they're going for. But I could be wrong.

It seems to me that the trailer is cut strangely. I'll get to that.    First Two Rivers footage is at :36 and it is unclear to me what the perspective is. Initially, it looked like a big gap

Hi everyone, it's been a while.    My main worry for S3 is pacing and how they handle the multiple story threads they are showing. Rand in the Waste, Perrin in the Two Rivers, Mat in Tanchin

All very good points, think you've changed my mind and it is more likely to refer to Lanfear. That Amazon summary is pretty explicit that they're going down the Lanfear and Rand relationship route pretty hard, and also that it's not going to be so obvious in the show that Lanfear is going to choose evil, making Egwene and Rand's behaviour in that scene fit better.

The scene in the final episode of s2 where Elayne heals Rand and he wakes up to see her had me believing that he would fall for Elayne pretty soon but perhaps that goes on the backburner for a while, particularly if they are not in the same places for a while as you suggest.

Wow. Yeah, I had not seen that summary. You may have convinced me too. They could go for a Kyle Ren vs Ray type of thing (I’m gonna turn you to the light! I’m gonna turn you to the dark-side!” Type of thing)

I don’t like it if that’s where they’re going… but … my loins are girded and expectations low. Just hoping for good TV (which upon a rewatch, S2 was pretty good Tv - even if, from a book fan perspective I was really scratching my head!)

yes, that's a fair point - I suppose my main issue is the breaking of the fourth wall and that entire shtick really, it feels very unnatural to me and a bit cheesy

It wasn't the smoothest execution, for sure.
