What's crazy is that if you had the full picture of that guy, he would be holding Barm's dog in his arms.

No, he'd be holding a smoking staff and a sack full of worms.

They changed Boogeyman's makeup  :( He looks closer to normal with it all one solid color

Yeah, but the black contacts are cool.

Oh good *still doesn't have cable*  :'( Not that there's really anyone worth seeing on ECW anyway.

Punk and Morrison are both excellent and should be future stars.  Burke could have a solid future too.  Beyond that I'd agree though..  Thorn could be a decent mid-carder on Raw or Smackdown if they tone down the vampire stuff though, and I'm not sure but he may not be wearing the fangs anymore, they certainly don't seem to be pushing him as anything more than a big goth guy now...

Wow, gone a bit off topic haven't we.  ;D

Morrison never interested me much as a wrestler; his only draw was that he's way hot. CM Punk doesn't interest me much either. Having Viscera (which is a better name than the one he's using now) and Boogeyman over there helps, but you have to admit it's a floundering brand. The biggest draw of it was that it was a throwback to the older days of ECW, and now Tommy Dreamer is like the only Original left. Sandman is on Raw, Sabu and RVD both were released... and then the other big talent they pushed over there to give it a bit more profile is also gone. Kurt Angle and Big Show have both left the company, and Chris Benoit, who was tapped to pick up the title after Bobby Lashley got drafted to Raw (dumb idea, even if it did allow them to pit him against John Cena), well, we know what happened with Chris Benoit. If they don't get someone over there with not only main event status but also a bit of ECW cred, like, say, Rey Mysterio, that show's going down inside the next year. Or Kane; as much as I like having him on Smackdown, he'd be a great fit for ECW.

Yeah, we wandered off subject, but it's not like much was going on in here anyway.

ECW seems cursed to me.  Whenever they send a big name star there, the star is gone within 6 months.  Plus going over there is like getting a demotion to the big stars.  It means that they arn't good enough to headline Raw or Smackdown.  Look at Morrison.  No way would he even considered as the champ on either of the other two brands.  Like winning the championship in the NIT (the other NCAA basketball tournament).  It's nice, but you still know you're weren't good enough to go the NCAA tournament and you're the champion of the rejects.

It's like once they pulled Paul Heyman out, they didn't know what to do with ECW anymore. And yeah, Morrison as champ is pretty weak, considering he's basically Edge Lite, but everybody knows he was never supposed to be champ anyway.

Its true, this discussion isn't going anywhere... until the next season comes out in the next few weeks. Perhaps if empy will split the wrestling discussion into its own thread?

Nah, no point, this is probably a one-time conversation; any thread derived thereof would fall off the first page in two days time.

So how about that Zachary Quinto? His eyebrows are smexy.

I was a wrestling fan for a brief stint back when there was the WWF and WCW.

Now I am more of a UFC fan myself.

I've tweaked the title to make it clearer that it is UFC/MMA inclusive. :)

Huh, 10 WWE wrestlers suspended for Steroid use.  Any guesses on who they are?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070831/ap_en_tv/steroid_raid_wrestlers_8

Some quotes from other sites to bring it up to date:

From the NY Daily News:

- The WWE was rocked again today, after several of wrestling's top names emerged in the Albany district attorney's probe into a widespread Internet doping scandal.

The wrestling congomerate based in Stamford announced that it will suspend 10 of its biggest stars for violation of its wellness policy.

Top wrestlers Randy Orton, Charles Haas, Jr., Adam "Edge" Copeland, Robert "Booker T" Huffman, Shane (Gregory) Helms, Mike Bucci(Simon Dean), Anthony Carelli (Santino Marella), John "Johnny Nitro" Hennigan (John Morrison), Darren "William Regal" Matthews, Ken "Mr. Kennedy" Anderson and Chavo Guerrero were all identified as clients of Signature Pharmacy in Orlando, the site raided by Albany County and Florida law enforcement agencies in February for distributing steroids and other prescription drugs to clients who had not been examined by doctors. The investigation is part of a probe into illegal Internet drug distribution by Albany D.A. David Soares.

-According to some news reports Batista, Umaga, Funaki and Sylvan Grenier are also named as being clients. Apparently there are to be at least 2 more suspensions on top of the 10 already dished out.

...

A WWE lawyer said on a radio (or TV) interview that the NFL would be releasing a list of names involved in the investigation in the next couple of days.

-According to RajaWWF.com, quoting PWI, the ten wrestlers who are probably the ones suspended are:

Charlie Haas

Chavo Guerrero

Edge

Funaki

Gregory Helms

John Morrison

Mr. Kennedy

Randy Orton (quelle surprise)

Umaga

William Regal

And others who could yet be suspended (if true) are:

Batista

Chris Masters

King Booker

Santino Marella

Simon Dean

A rumour on the site suggested another two wrestler may yet be suspended.

Just to be clear, UFC is an MMA competiton.. UFC is to MMA what WWE is to Pro Wrestling, but there are other wrestling groups besides WWE and other MMA groups besies UFC...
