The bucket list.

i thought it was relly good.  anything with morgan freeman in it cant all be bad.  kinda a tear jerker too.

narnia prince caspian.

ok so i know some (ok a lot) of you probly dident like the first one, and probly dident like the second one any better, but i did.  in fact i thought prince caspian was done a lot better then LWW.  as a fan of the books it was, as always sad to see the plot twisted a little (ok a lot) out of shape and all, but it was pretty much made up for in the battle sceans.  once again WETA has shone why anyone even thinking of doing a fantacy movie HAS to go the them for the spetial efects.  i cant waight for voyage of the dawn tredder.

and yes i watch most my movies now adays on DVD.

you try taking a 14 month old to the theater....

ironcross,  not been to a theater in 12 months

Saw Gran Torino last night and I liked it very much!

I pretty much love Clint Eastwood and everything he does, but yeah I likde it. Lovely cinematography with lights and shadows and good acting and an excellent and tragic story! 8,5/10!

Hmm, it looked depressing when I saw the preview...is it worth watching, story-wise? I'm still debating whether I want to see it or not.

and ironcross, I really wanted to see the bucket list!

As for me, I started watching the first season of Weeds last night because one of my friends was playing it on his laptop. Not gonna lie, if you like dark humor and don't mind some situations that some (OK, most) people would consider inappropriate, then it's a great show. For any of you who don't know, the basic premise of the show is that there's a single suburban mom in a rich neighborhood who is a weed dealer ^^ Between her life and some of the things going on with her friends from various circles, there are some...interesting situations, to say the least ;)

Watch Season 1 of the Weeds.  It is a great show.  Season 2 slips a little.  After that just give up on it as it jumped the shark.  This last season was kind of bad.

Watched Kung Fu Panda last night.  It was cute.  It was occasionally funny.  It was entertaining.  It followed exactly the typical Cartoon formula for an animated movie.  Because of this, I give it 3.5 stars out of 5.

I thought the story in Gran Torino was really good, with pretty good character arcs and whatnot

Also, last night I saw Zack and Miri make a porno which was Kevinsmithtastic, meaning I liked it a lot, which I mostly do his movies. Lots of naughty jokes delivered with quite the pace. Two thumbs up!

Saw Milk last night, which was a really good movie, or so I thought. Marvelous acting all around, especially from Sean Penn (duh) and Emile Hirsch, who was wonderful to watch in every scene.

Also, i saw Max Manus, a new Norwegian film about a WWII war hero and saboteur against the Germans. It was really, really good, though I might just be saying that because of it being so patriotic, but in my eyes this is the best Norwegian made film pretty much ever.

Last movie I saw was

But I'm a cheerleader and Brick.

Brick was excelent, film noir piece in the old detective story style and very stylish as well as gritty. I recommend!

Saw Frost/Nixon yesterday, a film which I enjoyed, sure, but I won't root for it when it comes oscar time. Maybe for acting, Langella did quite brilliantly, but yeah. It wasn't bad though! 7,5/10!

Then I saw George A. Romero's Dawn of the dead, which was hilariously awesome in it's old-timey splattertacular zombiefest. 7,5/10!

Saw Batman, the first one by Tim Burton, and was muchly amused by it. The batman wasn't nearly as dark as Bale's, but I found Nicholson's joker a breath of fresh air. 7/10!

anyone going to see valkirie?  i want to see it and may or may not get a chance too, but ive heard that cruis may have relly over acted. would love to see the opinion of anyone who gose to see it

Well, I saw

Narnia: Prince Douche Bag

The night before last, It was a 'meh' movie to me.

I'm wondering, wtf don't the kids bring an Uzi with them? They could just take out the entire army themselves! :P

The Mummy 3: Jet Li Supersized

Ehh, it was 'okay' but boy, if you thought they butchered history in the first two films?!

The Shows not that great, but I've seen worse (again, sci-fi) If you want to watch something else more, watch it instead, but if you've got nothing better todo, its yoru time, not mine. ;)

The Wire Season 1

After hearing so many good things about this show, I picked up the first disk from netflix, I dunno what I think but its definately not that bad.

(Not sure IF I mentioned this one before or not)

On a related note, After being slightly bored and not having the kind of time to pick up a game (family was visiting) I started watching the anime D.Gray-Man.

And wow, just wow. I haven't been hooked on an anime like that since Great Teacher Onizuka.

Just to put it into perspective, there are currently 3 seasons with a total of 103 episodes.

I watch ALL 103 episodes in under 3 days.

Yea, I don't know How I got any sleep in there. ;)

The anime in and of its self isn't anything special, but it does some things right.

It has twists, some twists you don't see coming.

Other twists that are pretty obvious.

The anime is Dark. Probably one of the darkest I've seen. (Not THE Darkest, but its in the top 10) and by dark, I mean people die. People you actually give a hoot about. And by Give ahoot, I mean people you don't expect in an anime to die, to die. You expect in an action/adventure style anime, that if the main cast is out to 'save' someone, they usually save them more often then not. This, not so much. ;)

Oddly enough the show reminds me a LOT of the anime Innuyasha. (hey, cartoon network used to be my only supply of anime, sue me.)

The soundtrack sounds VERY familiar, and if I dare say, the animes have some commonialities in it. That being the similar formula, and by style I'm talking about demons, magic, action packed, ect. As well as the fact that people have this tendency to 'power up' every 30 or so episodes. :P

However, this is different to, it doesn't follow the formula in the exact same way.

IT has fillers, but the fillers actually AFFECT the main plot! (OMG isn't that insane?!)

The fillers have purpose, they have comedy, they have sadness, anger, ect.

Infact, there was one point in the anime right in the middle of an action packed fight, that the two sides (good guys vs bad guys) started argueing for comedic relief. (It was damned funny to)

But the animes also got many questions left unanswered. Questions that will keep you watching just to know those answers.

Kinda like in the Wheel of Time.

You may not like it anymore (I still love it, I'm just not obsessed with it. ;)) but you can't tell me you wont' read the last book just to know how it all ends.

This is similar. There are boring episodes, there are awesome episodes, but ultimatley you want to know how it ends.

So yea, its definately one of the better anime I've seen.

Definately better then Bleach thats for sure. ;) (And I mean this in the terms that they also share the same formula but at least this anime doesn't throw a f*****g 30 episode filler in the middle of an epic battle!!!)

Oh, and when I went to pay my cable bill today, I had asked the people there why I would need to pay for basic cable, if the digital package has it included... Didn't really get an answer on that, but Apparently I'm now paying about $20 less for Digital/Basic/Internet then I was for just Basic/Internet...

(yea, I'm paying $86 for basic/digital/internet and $106 for basic/internet....)

oh, and somehow I got free HBO/Cinemax/Showtime/Stars, It might be because my building sucks and they just left it 'open' and anyone with a box can get em. I'm not gunna ask 'hey, why do I got hbo?' no piont in risking the loss of HBO dammit!

Of course, this happens AFTER True-Blood, Californication, and Dexter have finished. >_<

I also watched Max Manus. I thought it was pretty good, but I wouldn't say it's the best Norwegian film I've seen. I give it a 7/10.

Best norwegian movie is of course Slipp Jimmy fri, but only because Bröderna Dal was not made as a movie ;D

Had Star Wars Marathon

was bored for the first 6 hours, then commenced to have an awesome time

a shame I only have the remastered whatnots o_o

Still awesome!

Star wars episode I : 6,5/10

II 5/10

III 7,5/10

IV 8/10

V 10/10 (WOOOOOOOO)

VI 9,5/10

Then. Slumdog millionaire, which was just a lovely lovely film, beautifully shot with a nice emotional story and awesome music on top. 9,5/10!

Then, over the course of a weekend on ze mountain, Wall-E, 10/10, because it's awesome and awesome, then iron man, 8/10, which is also, pretty much, awesomely entertaining, and it has the dude in it.

So, I finally finished up The Wire Season 1 a few days ago, Pretty damned good show! I especially liked how they wrapped it all up! I also never expected them 'actually' kill of some characters...

Oh, and Whats his name, 'is it omar?' is kick ass!

I also saw, the Incredible Hulk.

WOW it was 10000% better then the other 'blob' that was the Hulk.

Anyone else notice the orginal Hulk was a guest star in the movie?

Oh what? You didn't cause you suck so much you never even saw the orginal tv show that was awesome and horrible at the same time? Yea, thats right, you suck!

Anyways, I saw one last movie tonight, and its definately a 10/10 in my books, infact I believe it should get some kind of oscar/whatever nomination.

What movie you ask?

Traitor (2008) starring Don Cheadle, Awesome performance imo, it kept me entertained, and guessing through-out the movie. And the ending... I loved it.  ;D

Anyone else notice the orginal Hulk was a guest star in the movie?

He was a security guaaaard!

Anyhoo, saw the wrestler last night, it was fabulous. 10/10. Rourke deserves an oscar for this, and yes I've seen Milk.

Also saw a short film called Sic Shooter from the director of In Bruges, which was quite nice. Filled with cooky Irish dialogue and an interesting story. 8,5/10.

Omar only gets more bad ass as the seasons progress.  Seriously bad ass.

Wow, I have so many movies to review...

The Reader

Something was off about this movie.  I think it could have delivered more of a powerful punch.  I maybe fell into the old trap of expected the top of the line acting and instead got above average acting.  Sure Kate will probably get a best supporting nod for her role as it was good... but I don't think she will win.  It fell a little flat somewhere.  I did like the movie though.  I mean... the first half was Kate Winslett showing off her body... and you can't go wrong there.  But seriously.. the movie had a very European feel to it.  It made it into my top 10 of 2008 but then again 2008 so far had some weak movies.  I highly expect Doubt or Rev Road or Frost/Nixon to knock it out.  Lets go with 3.5 out of 5 empies.

Curious Case of Ben Button

I expected a Forrest Gump type movie.  I forgot that Tom Hanks was not the lead actor I guess.  It was a pretty good movie... well somewhere between pretty good and very good.  I was entertained throughout but was not blown away.  I give it 4 out of 5 empies.

The Incredible Hulk

Like Sinister, I expected something like the first movie.  Edward Norton can act though and Tim Roth is always a good villain.  I was really entertained throughout until we got to the end CGI fight and the movie lost me.  It was still a pretty good movie to watch though.  Lets go with 3.5 out of 5 empies.

Friday Night Lights Season 2

I was scared they were jumped a shark when they had the whole murder thing.  But the acting is great and I constantly gripped by the stories.  It feels like I am watching real life instead of something scripted and I greatly enjoy it.  I already have season 3 DVRed for its premiere on NBC on the 16th.

Seven Pounds

Will Smith and Christmas go together like peas and carrots.  The movie was good.  I felt it could have been edited a little better but overall I was entertained.  3 out of 5 empies.

But seriously.. the movie had a very European feel to it.

Actual story and dialogue instead of car chases and 'splosions? ;D
