Just watched Waltz With Bashir, which was surprisingly good. It did however make me really want to watch Apocalypse Now again, so I have my #1 weekend movie decided.

Did you see the original or the remake? Saw the original and it was very good.

Original ^^

Also, I liked Waltz with Bashir

ALSO

I saw young frankenstein yesterday, as per the doctor's order, and it was awesome. But that's for another thread.

Also. Rewatched Toy Story, which I haven't seen since I was a kid, and I was surprised (somehow) that it was excellent. 9/10!

I watched DeathProof yesterday and it was just as I expected! Which is whats awesome with Tarantinos movies. You know what you're gonna get. Lots of strange people with long monologues, brutalish murders, awesome soundtrack, womens legs in every other shot, and Rose McGowan. Cant get much better than that! It was of course the usual amount of strange, but thats all good imo.

Saw Memento again, which is always an awesome experience, and it was nice to see the little things now that I knew how it'd play out. 9/10!  Also, saw Hunger, a very good Irish film about the IRA hunger strike some time ago. Very powerful and unflinching. 9/10!

Well lets see, I watched

The Spirit.

Not a bad super-hero movie, but it is HIGHLY CORNY AS HELL. Not that its a bad thing. But seeing Samuel L. Fit the spirit with a toilet and nearly falling on his ass laughing at him.. Well that was just hilarious.

The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Saw this the other day to.

3/5 like empy gave seems to be just about right.

Its not OMFG awesome, but its not horrible either. Its got some nice special effects, the story isn't bad. It just missed something that would have gave it a 4/5 or a 5/5.

I spent the majority of the weekend watching Season 1 of Heroes. It was a lot more fun than a Performance Management paper I had planned to finish!

Saw Marley and Me last weekend.  Good movie.  But, I cried.  And I don't cry at movies. The boyfriend was crying too.  But, the reason for my crying is because I did recently have to put my beloved Aussie down because he had cancer.

Watched Young Frankenstein because I was told to. Funny, nice nods to the story and the original (at least what I think is the original - the one I watched in school). Just more over the top than what I was in the mood for.

Then watched Bedtime Stories. Twice, because we started it before nap time, and didn't want to stop it, then the kids wanted to finish it after nap time. Hilarious, cute and a nice, sweet and funny Adam Sandler that I like. Also, I loved Keri Russell. Just because I do.

Then watched Zack and Miri Make a Porno (the kids were in bed). Irreverent, dirty, filled with sex, boobs and etc. And hilarious. Will be watching it again, less drunk, looking for things that I can quote at work to be subversive without being dirty and shunned.

Doomsday - Mix Resident Evil with elements of Braveheart and lots of Mad Max and you have just envisioned this trainwreck of a movie.  However it wasn't as bad as an Ewe Bolle movie so I give it 1.5 stars out of 5.

Episode 1 of the second series of Ashes to Ashes. Oh, it's great to see DCI Gene Hunt back on the telly!

Diary of the Dead

Probably the worst of the Romano zombie flicks.  It felt thrown together and flat for some reason.  But there were zombies so... yeah.  I gave it 2 out of 5.

Why is it that no one understands anything about zombies when the dead begin to rise again?

I watched the 6 available episodes of The IT Crowd (Netflix streaming), a Brit comedy about the haphazard IT department at a random company. It's quite funny; the second episode gave me a particularly strong set of giggles and outright laughter. 4/5

Best new TV show this season - Castle.  The writers are just wonderful on this show.

I'm loving Castle.  Originally I had planned to watch it because I love Nathan Fillion, but I didn't really have high hopes for it.  But both the murder mysteries and the witty dialogue are way better than I expected.

I thought Changeling was great, too, though I don't know if I could ever watch it again.  But yes, it was a nice change to see Angelina Jolie doing something other than playing a super spy/assassin/gun-toting fighter.

Right now (instead of writing my lit paper ;) ) I'm watching an old favorite - The Three Musketeers..  I haven't seen in it years.  I forgot how funny it is.

Caprica:

BSG fans you will not recognize this straight to DVD movie as part of the BSG universe except for a robot that has a few scenes and that you are in Caprica City.  I found the movie entertaining and somewhat interesting to see how the Cylons came to be, but other than that the movie fell a little flat.  This is no BSG mini series which blew me away.  However I am still interested to see how the Caprica show moves on from this movie which will be basically replace my need for Terminator which Fox is sure to cancel.

I give this a hesitant 3 out of 5.

Ikiru, film by Akira Kurosawa about a man who learns how to live only once he knows he's going to die. Very touching film, good stuff. 8/10

A double bill tonight...

1) The last 3 episodes of Heroes Season 2. Now I am fully up to date!

2) Episode 2 of Ashes to Ashes.

Death at a funeral

Very witty British comedy about a funeral gone horribly awry. Features a gay blackmailing dwarf, the word "gay" several times and Alan Tudyk's naked arse. Good times! 7,5/10
