Division: Children of the Light

Physical Description:

Thurin is 5'8 weighs 200 pounds with dark brown hair. He has fierce light green eyes. He was a merchant before becoming a Child so he is not in the best of physical shape. More interested in bookwork and writing than weaponry, but will take up a weapon if he thinks it will further his goal. More of a babyish face untouched and scratch-less, but he doesn't obsess over his physical appearance. Not necessarily but one could get away with calling him a little chubby.

Place of Birth/Raising:

Amadicia for both

Age: 25

History:

Thurin was thrilled; he had just come back to his hometown after a year of traveling around Amadicia, selling and buying goods. His dark brown hair swayed as he lightened his step, his green eyes glistened in the sunlight, they seemed to reflect on his happiness. He mentally berated himself for missing his sister's wedding, but he couldn't be happier. After all, he had just found out that he was to be an uncle, and what could make a man happier? One thing he noticed was all of the women turning away from him, some raising a handkerchief to their eyes. One did not turn and Thurin saw pure pity shining in her eyes. She turned away and he found himself wondering why the people he knew from his childhood would be avoiding him. He heard her turn to another woman and whisper, "Do you think… will be angry… not there… hunting… couldn't get to him sooner…?" When Thurin tried to listen closer, they noticed that he was there and cut off immediately, giving him the "you had better not have been listening to us" look. It only set him off a trifle though, after all, he had a new brother to meet. After careful questioning and a few pitied looks and odd men coming up to them and offering forced appologies, Thurin extracted that his sister was now married to a Lugay and at their farm. After being directed to the right road, Thurin inferred that it would take him until sunset to arrive at the farm.

He set off on the road, and found himself wondering what the man would be like, after all, he had cut the ties with his village and had not seen the people in a few years. A good man for his parents to marry Mara to him, he must be. His good mood was infectious, and every stranger he met on the road smiled and tipped their hat at him in a return gesture. Well, there was one odd old man who stared at him for a while before running off, odd indeed. Oh, now Thurin remembered him, that was the old man who always stared at strangers as if they were evil. Thurin sighed, it was too bad the old man was odd, most people would simply ignore his suspicions, but there were always some who listened. Thurin remembered being attacked once by a suspicious man, his guards, who were waiting with his goods back in the village, set them strait, but Thurin did not know what he would have done without them. After that experience, he started learning how to use knives to fight.

It was near dusk and Thurin had finally arrived at the Lugay farm. A huge smile split across his face when he saw the farm itself, it was a tidy thing, but signs of neglect shown around it. Thurin walked over to the farmhouse and opened the door. Thurin saw Mara washing a few dishes, and walked over to her. She looked over all fine, but looking closer Thurin saw her cheeks were red and tear-stained. "Mara…" Therin said cautiously. Mara jumped up and when she saw him, she settled down. "Oh Therin, I wasn't expecting you, I would have had the house better prepared if I had known you were coming." She looked haggard and the words only confirmed it. He tilted her chin upwards and forced him to look into his eyes. "Mara what's wrong?" She looked considering for a while and then spoke. "It's Noy, my husband, he went out to do the farm work a few weeks ago, and he never returned, we think that he…" she broke out into tears, "… died." Tears were running down her face and anger started welling up inside of Thurin, he disappeared, no body. Thurin was not a fool, the man just took what he wanted from Mara and then ran away under the pretence of dying. His entire concept of Noy changed, Mara had made a huge mistake, and Noy was going to pay for it with his life.

Thurin knew that Mara would not be able to handle it, so he lied. "Oh, Mara, I'm so sorry," She simply sobbed against his chest, there was nothing he could do. "I would offer help but I need to keep up the trade," he wove his hand in a helpless gesture. "It's alright, I understand. I am doing well enough on my own, and I have Noy's parents to help around the house, you can go, it's alright." After spending time with her, he set off in the dead of night to return to the village. He would find answers, and he would make Noy pay for what he did to Mara. After Thurin had arrived, he rented a room at the only Inn in the town. Once he woke up from a bad night's sleep, Thurin got started right away on his revenge. He asked everyone he saw questions. Questions about everything, if anything happened the day of the disappearance, all the questions he could think of. The only thing everyone agreed on was that on the day Noy disappeared, strange men in black coats started cornering men and asking them strange questions. Nobody could understand and neither could Thurin. Thurin went back the Inn and let his thoughts mull around in his head. Strange men, that obviously meant outlanders. Thurin had gone outside Amadicia a few times in his travels. He tried to think of the men who wore black coats.

Suddenly it hit him, when he traveled to Tarabon, he had encountered men searching for other men who could channel, and they wore black coats! It all fit now, Noy ran off to channel the tainted One Power for the false Dragon. Thurin considered his options; he was not strong enough to face a group of tainted men alone. He came across two groups of people who dealt with Noy's types: the Tar Valon witches, and… yes, Thurin would go to the Fortress of the Light and swear into the ranks of the Children of the Light. Thurin set off for Amador the next morning with a thirst for vengeance.

poor Noy'd better run
